This is an extremely zoomed-in piece of the DVD cover of a famous movie. Can you identify it?

Are they American flags on the left and right?

My question is: could it be an album cover versus a CD cover? At least that way we have some idea of how old it is.

Edited to add: Ooops! I was thinking music not movie. Sorry.

The backside of "Forest Gump"'s left shoulder is close to it when viewed at 400%.

Some of the wrinkles in the pressure suit arms, especially the third from the left, look like it too.

The stripey section also seem like slats in a panel so I looked at "The Graduate" where the slats in the door behind him look like those in your image, but the black space in the middle doesn't fit right.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Graduate

The Right Stuff pressure suits look the best so far.

This is a real poser because the cover art usually changes from edition to edition. Are BlueRay covers to be included or just DVDs? A criterion edition, a director's cut and a first issue cover may all be slightly different. Also, please assure us the image is from the cover and not the back panel.

Not it's I looked at:
The Longest Day
The Dirty Dozen
Meet Me in St. Louis
The Wizard of OZ
Citizen Kane
The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming
Fail-Safe
Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
Cleopatra
Stripes
Private Benjamin
Sgt. Bilko
Casablanca
The Maltese Falcon
The Music Man
West Side Story
South Pacific
The Sound of Music
Flower Drum Song

It is from the cover. By the way, you can usually get a look at all the different covers by searching for "[movie title] DVD cover" (sans quotes) on Google Images.

daBomb619.
Is this a contest you are in or is it a challenge you are presenting to us on your own? I ask along the lines of when or if we might find out the answer. Do you already know what the answer is? If so, at some point will we be offered clues?

It is a contest I'm in, and no, I don't know the answer. The answers usually come up after a month or so.

Well, the contest closed. Here's the answer.

I guess they weren't American flags.

Besides not being part of 'Old Glory', it also doesn't seem to be an extreme close-up but a direct view of the central portion of the cover. Thanks for revealing the answer.

Famous movie? I've never heard of it. The only name in the movie that's familiar to me is Sela Ward.

I had wondered if it might be a tie, though. Harry Potter and gang had on ties like that. http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1029675264/tt0295297
