Good to know aedan57, thank you. Edit to George95: I encounter the same blank page following your directions. Finding another way to the page I think you want, I found following the "try here" in the Challenges page for Fun Facts: http://www.funtrivia.com/theworld.cfmYou might want to bookmark it (do people still do that or is it all favorites now?) add it to your FT favorites bar if you're a gold member or, if not, take up the space on your browser favorites list to store the address.

Is there any way to know how many one has completed of the 72 fun facts? It's hard enough doing that many and I certainly don't want to do any more than I have to.
Also if a fact is rejected as false, invalid or whatever, is this communicated to the poster?

I kept a record of my countries as I went, so only had to refer to my spreadsheet to see how many I had. I am not aware of any place on the site where you can quickly see it. If you are only beginning the chase, I suggest keeping a record for yourself. Even if you have posted some, it might be worth the time it takes to go back and set up your records. If you are near the end, that would be a massive task, so my choice would be to submit until I thought I was very close, then submit one fact every second day (to make sure that any delay in awarding the badge has been accounted for - I recall waiting about a day between when I submitted my final fact and when the badge arrived, as it is one with fixed times for distribution). When it appears, you are done.

Thanks Looney (if I can call you that!)
I am close to the end but not exactly sure how close. Just trying to get another badge in before I go on holiday.

There is no notification if a fact is removed. The onus is on you to check that it isn't a duplicate and is correct, also that it is not a 'stupid' fact like Texas is bigger than Ireland. One fact per post only too, it is annoying when a person posts several facts in their post, it means there are less facts for another person to post without duplication. In Gwent you posted... Newport in Gwent is one of Britain's newest cities, having been granted city status in 2002. It is home to the Newport Gwent Dragons Rugby Union team and, in 2010, hosted the Ryder Cup golf competition. That is three facts, only one is required, now no one else can post the other two facts.

Sue
Thanks for pointing that out. I take your point that it is three facts. The reason I expanded it I guess was that the first fact alone felt a bit thin, especially given it was about Newport and not specifically Gwent. Also not really that much "fun". As you have pointed out the onus is on me to check that I am not duplicating anything and I am merely following what I have seen plenty of other people do - ie fleshing it out a bit. Still, should be easier for me from here on in.
If you want to delete my Gwent post then do. I don't want to disadvantage others.

Muzzyhill3,
I took the same tack you did when I got the badge (which was a while ago and before the last great clean-up exercise). I read religiously what was on each board, and then I chose some famous people who hadn't yet been mentioned who had been born in the place or lived there for a significant period of their lives. I suppose that by posting more than one name, I was posting more than one fact, but at the time, I felt I was making it more fun for the people who would read the facts. What Sue says is true, and it leaves fewer facts for others to post after you, so I see the point, but sometimes giving just a slim piece of information seems not much fun at all.
Sue

In some browsers the question of which place page you have been to can be told by looking at the COLOR of the place name (link color gets changed if their route has been followed). In my IE, names change from blue to red if I've been to that page before. A downside is that resets can turn everything blue again. If there were any question now about where you'd been, I'd start a LIST of those listed places that are a different color. Then you can verify one or two. When going to a new place, you should be reading all the facts there so if you see you've already been there, update the list if you have, or add a fact and update your list.
That is an update by addition method. You can also update by deletion. Copy the place page to a separate document. As you go to a place, delete it off your overall list. Pick a next spot, find out a valid fact, post it, and delete from the list copy. Repeat. Here you need to know the start count of countries on the page. Then as you progress, do the math to calculate how many you've deleted. A little busier method would be to cut/paste (rather than just delete) the place to a lower section of the page and then add your fact to it so eventually you'll have a complete copy of the facts you added and they'd be there to count (or even number as you go).
