I've had a really pretty group of antirrinhums this year. I'm going to leave them in and see if they survive winter, they do sometimes if it isn't too harsh.

This is what I was doing at night in the middle of nowhere. It was pitch dark and couldn't see anything but the camera points a red laser at the target and then can see the sign at least but nothing round it. The pole had been painted grey but almost worn off and there was another stripe and a bit under this but wasn't prepared to mess around to get it after driving 30 miles or so at midnight. There would or should have been a red triangle on top of it but there is no bracket with nothing screwed onto it which is the usual condition when one's come off.

Another statue (there may be a few of these though I cannot remember how many I photographed....), this time we are outside Baker Street Station and I doubt this gentleman needs an introduction.

Even if the antirrinhums don't survive the winter you could get self-seeded for next year.

At the ghost town, this was the inside of the church. I just had to get a shot of the wagon wheel chandeliers.

When I went out to take the dog for his AM walk this morning it was -1 C outside. Imagine my surprise when I looked up and saw 4 balloons overhead. Here is one of them. It must have really been cold at altitude.

David: WoW! I've never gotten night photos as nice as the last two you've posted. What camera did you buy? (sorry if you posted that info already - if you did, I wasn't paying attention, as usual)

DepGary: I've been up in a balloon more than a few times. Early morning and late afternoon are the best times no matter what the season (mid afternoon produces thermals that don't suit a "pleasant ride" for the paying public lol). Also, warm air rises due to some scientific principle I don't really understand (amongst a billion other things lol), so it was quite likely warmer up there than on the ground. We haven't had a killing frost yet here (any day now they say) but I AM surprised that you had colder temps than we did today !!!

I've been up in a balloon myself, but only once. I have a vivid imagination and all I kept worrying about was the bottom of the basket being strong enough to hold us without giving way. Other than that, it was so beautiful and peaceful up there.

CmdrK, I see your roads aren't any better than the ones down here...that's a heck of a pot hole beyond that sign.

Another thing I saw at the ghost town...not to worry though, it was behind glass. But living in the desert in the country as I do, I have to be alert for these things all the time.

Before 2004 there was quite a nice modern university campus here, one day they decided they'd prefer the money and sold it off for a huge estate. Previously Wall Hall campus in Aldenham.

No a statue to be seen here but be prepared for one next time or maybe the time after. Instead here we have a view of the lake at Regent's Park, London.

It's quite interesting from my viewpoint as a Brit to see what images you are coming up with, Howie - what people actually see when they come here as opposed to what the tourist board thinks they will see. So far it's parks, statues, and water!

ClaraSue, technically that pothole isn't in the roadway so until they break an axle in one of the town highway dept. trucks it won't get fixed.

I agree with Flopsy. It is interesting to see what people from other countries do go and see and take photos of. Now according to the tourist board it should be all architecture and museums.

Couple of months ago I put on a photo of my newly pricked out seedlings - well here they are after growing on a bit all ready to plant out in a few days time when the weather improves.

After very little sleep over a couple of days I pretty much just walked around Hyde Park and Regent's Park after I flew in from Toronto. I needed to walk and walk to try and keep me awake until night and get the legs moving. I was only in London for a couple of days so did not actually visit anything other than walking past places. There could very well be other things appearing soonish. If I go back to the 2005 visit there would be castles, etc from a part of England and Wales as well.

ClaraSue, is that a rattlesnake?

Yes, that's a rattlesnake. I was at the Rattlesnake Museum and had to check out which kinds of snakes we have in our area. There are 13 different species of Rattlers in Arizona and I think it was 5 of those are prevalent in the area where I live. Luckily, I haven't seen any in or near my yard.

Wow, that's scary. We only have adders as a poisonous snake here and although you do get a few people bitten each year it is quite rare, and hardly ever fatal.

Great photos everyone! Am I the only one here who actually likes snakes? I guess that might be because I don't have to put up with them much... The only animals I can't stand are some bugs, like cockroaches, snails or earthworms. *Shudders*

One more photo of a rattler and that's it. Hopefully I'll only see these behind glass and not in my yard.

Actually I don't mind snakes. I will always handle them at a show or something like that, those aren't usually venemous though!

That's a great photo ClaraSue.If you ever see one in your yard I suggest you don't stop to take a photo of it!
