I won the category Celebrities K-M this morning. Here is the issue with it. I had previously won Celebrities K-L and I was now playing as a champion. When I looked to see how it was listed, it said Celebrities K-L. I thought it would be neat as some have done to win all of the letters in a category such as Celebrities, Comics, etc. My set included questions from M such as ones on Marilyn Monroe. Am I to be denied my alphabet?

I think this is a simple case of the editors changing the name of the category at some point in the past. It is the same category and counts as one victory as far as the system is concerned.

I thought it weird that it was called K-M, but yet credited me as a winner of K-L and the other winners as K-M winners. I guess M will have to stay away and I can be content being one of the lucky glitch champions.

Just played who's the expert in 1980's music

Got the same question 4 times

2. Who sang 'Don't you want me'?
7. First up, who sang the following lyrics - "You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar when I met you"?
8. "Don't You Want Me": You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, when I met you.
11. What song begins with: "You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar When I met you"?

What a pity I didn't know the other 11.

Wow, incredible... what are the odds of that? 4 different questions... of the same question... and you get them all.

Plugging 'Who sang "Don't You Want Me"?' into the single question screening search gives no matches!
Same result when input into 'Ask Fun Trivia'!
Searching the Encyclopedia Fun Trivia drew blanks for the song title and for The Human League.
Using the Quizzes Title search engine for Don't You Want Me and The Human League also resulted in no direct matches.
Those four (or more?) Qs must be well hidden in old quizzes on some related topic.

Because the single question screening looks only at other single questions. Who's the Expert questions all come from quizzes.

Which is why I looked in other places too. And I looked in Music for a category but the questions may have been from quizzes under other cover topics.
Notice that "(or more?)" I posted? My intent was to report the results of trying to find if there were more questions of the same item to be found and found they cannot be, not even the ones we know are in there somewhere.
I believe a few times I have clicked the (play this quiz) button on Who's the Expert answers and been told the question, answers and I/I were from a Question Quest single submission. I think therefore that they are being quizbot assembled from both sources but limited on the Singles to ones approved by Terry for difficulty.
Also, I claim the rights to write (writes to right, or left to write?) the question in QQ as a reply to a QQ writing Daily Challenge. But make an offer and I might sell those rights. smile

They can be found. :s

I'm very very confident, considering the popularity of the song, that there are more in there.

In fact, this quiz (http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Music/UK-Xmas-Number-1s-Of-The-80s-142474.html) brings up the song in a different way

That doesn't make sense; the single questions do not get subcategorized and that is what WTE relies on.

As GG said, this wouldn't really matter; in the case of WTE, there is no way to pull single questions. For every other game, yes. For WTE, no.

This has no bearing on any of our games though...

That wouldn't work unless the quiz had the name of the song or the band in the title; the WTE topic was '1980s Music', so all you needed to do was go there. We have no Human League quizzes and none specifically about that one song.

Yes the song/similar question most certainly appears in more than just those four quizzes Kyle linked to. I've used it in at least one quiz of my own (I did use a different verse of the song though - "I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, that much is true")

Is there any reason why the new question game doesn't search ALL the questions?

From the sound of it you could submit a single question on "Don't You Want Me?" tomorrow and it would tell you there was no similar questions when it's not a New Question at all - in fact it's probably been done to death.

I thought the idea of the game was to get new and different questions into the question pool?

The New Question search is imperfect; you could ask any question in so many ways and it would never be able to consider all the options. There are so many slants and angles you could take, so many different lyrics in the song, and so many stats and figures you could ask about that not only would the system not find them all, but if it did it'd only show the first five entries.

This step in question writing is there to ensure you're doing your best not to duplicate.

I have just had a quiz put on line , based on my experience here. "Pass Over"

Hello - I played in the 6am Ancient history quiz this morning and won my division but was not awarded a victory. I competed in the div 111-200 level. I have the screen print for last hours winners and it read "*MHENSON400 was last hours winner*". When I look at the recent winners screen it combined the 41-110 level with the 111-200 level for a division 41-200. I have never seen this before. Can someone please explain what happened.

Thank you - Mark
