I was reading through an older thread about the Fun Facts Badge, since it is my next big goal to achieve that badge, and someone mentioned in that thread that there existed another thread which explains what makes a good question. There was no link provided in that thread "http://www.funtrivia.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/813975/1" to the post about what makes a good question. I've looked through 30+ pages of threads dating back into 2009, but have found no such thread. If anyone knows where this thread is, could they please link it, or bring it up to the front of the list?

The only real requirements are that it not be a repeated fact, that it be a fact about the place, and that it be of some interest. While the boards accept all posts, and they are duly tallied, we recently had a large review in which duplicates and non-facts were deleted. At least a few people lost their badges as a result, so it is worth taking the time to be original. "It rains a lot in Seattle" or "It doesn't rain much in Phoenix" would probably be culled.

I noticed that a lot of threads got deleted, probably because it was taking up too much space or slowing down server speed (I miss them!). However, you don't need that thread as looney_tunes has provided an appropriate response to your question.

Are the fun facts checked for accuracy? I wonder because I've recently browsed through the facts from my own country (Belgium) and I've noticed some mistakes. Is there a way to send correction notes about the fun facts?

Posting here should alert a moderator that some checking is needed again. It would probably help if you identified the specific posts.

Send me the fact numbers and the name of the members posting the fact by PM and I can delete them. It would be helpful if you back up your challenges. Obviously if someone put that Paris is the capital of Belgium that is pretty obviously wrong but others might not be so obvious to an administrator from antother country.

kaddarsgirl, bear in mind that it is a fact you need, not a question. When you find a fact please then read those already posted to ensure that it isn't already there.

For anyone else reading this, can I ask that you restrict yourself to just one fact per page, not a list of them. If you post a list you are making it harder for those coming after you which isn't fair.

I'll do that. I was hesitant to write out the errors in my earlier post because it's not my goal to publicly criticize people. It's not that there are blatant mistakes, just some inaccuracies or facts that are ambiguous.
