I've just come back to say I see, when one checks on it, that there is no Quiz of the Hour right now. I'm to check back later. (Maybe that had something to do with why I couldn't get back on FT this morning..."page not available".

ALSO, this thread stops at page 70. That is 9/25/12. I can't seem to get it to go past this page with the page numbers or arrows. I can only get it to go past here by typing a message.

I know there's got to be another way. Help. I'm such a dummy about these things.

Thank you,

Lee

Yes, I think it's because the site was down.
Here is a link where you can check if there is a quiz of the hour available (currently shows as 'none available')

It's showing again now, as the site clock has ticked past the reset time of six minutes past the hour. This is quite a magical mystery tour.

Rossian,

How did you get to this page?

As I said earlier, my pages read to 70. And nothing I do will make it go more so, EXCEPT type a message on after the last one on page 70 which is 9/2012.

I feel so dumb, but I've clicked on the 70, the little arrow type thing next to it, the black mark next to that and I can get no farther than 9/2012 messages unless I write a message.

Thanks for the knowledge!

Lee

Lee - I can't help you, as I get straight to this page. All I can suggest is that rebooting your computer or clearing the cache might help.

Thank you. I can reboot but I have no idea how to "clear my cache".

What page does it say we're on right now? I can always put that page number in and guess from then on...

Again, my thanks,

Lee

These are the instructions for internet explorer (on vista, but should be similar on windows 7 and 8):
From your start menu (on your PC), select 'Control Panel', from there choose 'Internet Options'.
Then, under 'Browsing History' click on 'Delete' and select everything you wish to delete (I usually tick all the boxes) and then 'Delete'.
If you're on Mozilla Firfox:
Click on 'History' on the toolbar, then select 'Clear recent History' (tick all) and then 'Clear Now'

I hope that it wasn't me - my Internet went down so I went and watched Top Gun and it was back when the film was over.

Lee,
Different browsers seem to break up the pages according to their own rules and I think a couple allow the user to define the page size (# of posts per page) so there wouldn't be a correct answer to the question of "What page are we on?".
But all should have a little legend in the lower right corner under the last entry saying Page__ of__ <1 2...82 82 84 (according to my legend)
If yours says page 70 of 70 then you possibly are viewing about 30 posts per page.

mehaul, it seems, from reading the above posts, that Lee's problem is not having a different number of pages than others, but that she can't advance to her most recent page, regardless of what the actual page "number" is. She's unable to advance through the pages past her page 70, which contains posts from a year ago. It really doesn't have anything to do with how many posts per page her settings are set to...

so there wouldn't be a correct answer to the question of "What page are we on?"

That's why she included the date of the recent post available to her. It seems clear from her replies that she expects the most recent page number to be higher than 70, since she is stuck on 70 except if she types a message, re:

Mehaul is saying that different browsers and different computers will number the pages differently (depending on how many posts per page can be displayed). So when Lee asks what number any of us can see, it may not be very helpful to know.

My 'page 70' has posts ranging from Feb 2013 to March 2013 -- clearly a different numbering system than Lee's. This post is on page ... wait..

How weird, it says this is page 70 when I log in, but it says this is page 84 when I am logged out.

Chavs, there are 2087 posts here. Default settings show 25 posts per page, so when you log out, there are 84 pages. You have this on page 70: so you have 30 displayed per page.

In contrast, I'm only on page 42. I show 50 per page. smile

Which is why all our numbered pages are different. So when wanting someone to find a post, it's easier to use post number rather than page number. smile

It's hard to see how posts from 9/25/2012 could look like they're on page 70 though.

I think there is also an option that nests threads together so there may be 50 posts per page but several threads are on those pages. It all depends on how you set up your browser to interact with UBB. Just another way that the question of "What page are we on?" cannot easily be answered.
Lee could use the Forums topic page and subcategory /title entry to get to the pages. The list on the left side with the topic title has the pages listed below them. Lee should be able to see the current latest pages, IAW that browser's settings, and link to the last page by clicking there.

Just a thought but I've had this Medium challenge a few times recently:

"Find five quizzes, online for over a month, that have fewer than 50 ratings. Play and rate them."

This is getting increasingly difficult presumably because of the challenges - its still doable but I think it is now a lot harder than a lot of the difficult challenges.

Just a thought that maybe this should now be a difficult challenge or keep it medium but have less to find or a higher number than 50.

Midget, I don't really see a problem with this challenge - you may need to go a bit more into niche categories to find them, but there are plenty of these quizzes.

The way I do this challenge is to go through my FT friends and teammates' quiz lists and see if any of their quizzes match the requirements. There are always several that fit that I can play. I have one of my own that's been on for over a year with only 16 ratings. I have 11 other quizzes with fewer than 50 ratings as well. Quizzes that fit your particular Medium Challenge are everywhere. I'm sure you can find some you would like to play. Shameless plug here, but my quizzes http://www.funtrivia.com/quizdetails.cfm?quiz=362856 , and http://www.funtrivia.com/quizdetails.cfm?quiz=363328 both currently fit, and are not as niche as my other quizzes, if you're still looking for quizzes, that is. And they're both from the Race 2, another good place to look for quizzes (http://www.funtrivia.com/bb.cfm?action=details&qnid=28014&boardid=2222222)

I can find them but my point is that you need to look longer now than you used to thus the challenge is becoming more difficult. At some point it will become extremely difficult!

But there are new quizzes constantly being added to the pool of available quizzes for that challenge...

Everyday quizzes with fewer than 50 ratings reach the one-month-online mark and are available as qualifying quizzes for the challenge. They're not just going to run out...

The Video Games section is loaded with quizzes that would fit your challenge. There are quizzes all the way back from 2011 in there that still haven't been ranked.

Kyle - the chances of my scoring high enough to be able to rate are best described as 'slim to none'...
