I am paired with another player for the "Who's the Expert" challenge today. I see that they have 3 scores posted already, but two of them are for the same quiz. How is that possible? Were they somehow able to repeat the quiz after seeing the correct answers the first time?

I've used the perk during that challenge myself and remember both scores counted for it. I would think that's what happened there.

Yes, it is exactly as Adam said. I used my perk. Wasted it too since my second try was worse. It was a quiz in the same category, but the questions were different.

Gotcha! Thanks for clarifying! Didn't think of that!

It is a bit confusing since on the Who's the Expert board, the first quiz score gets replaced by the second whereas on the Challenge it shows just as if it is another game in the next hour and a different category.

Medium Challenge today:

Play 14 quizzes in sub-category Mixed 5 Q. Difficult and score at least 7 correct in each. You may retake quizzes you have not played within the last 30 days.

Getting 7 correct answers in a 5 question quiz definitely seems more of a difficult challenge than a medium one grin

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but my Medium challenge today required me to play a crossword that I had written. I know we don't get our own quizzes, but should this restriction not also apply to crosswords?

Not so much a bug but an annoying fact.

Those of us that have been on the site a long time have played a great deal of quizzes so when we get one of the "play 19 of these quizzes" etc chances are you've already played a whole heap of them so get no points for spending ages playing to meet the challenge.

Newer players or people who don't bother playing authored quizzes boost their point value (quite significantly) by fulfilling these requirements.

I know this is a fact of the game and lots of people are affected by it but was just wondering the possibility of actually being able to get points for quizzes we have to replay to meet these challenges.

I think one of the badge challenges allowed this.

Do you mean regular players can still get credit for those challenge quizzes even beyond the first 100?

Currently, we don't.

My challenge today:

Play a new player-authored quiz within 20 minutes after it goes online. A perfect score or at most one question wrong will complete this challenge. Note that mixed generated quizzes do not count -- just regular player created quizzes.

7:23 Quiz "Restaurant Spelling Bee" (Tizzabelle) has been added in Spelling Bee and will appear in the New Quiz list shortly. As a buzz special, you can play it right now to attempt to be the first player to score 100% and complete the Early Bird challenge! (editor LadyCaitriona).

According to the scores, I scored as follows:

Mar 20 14, 7:43 AM deaconblues63 10 / 10

Did I need to finish in 19 minutes and 59 seconds or under?

Hopefully, I'll get other chances today, but I thought I might ask for some clarification about how the timing on this works.

Thank you.

As far as I know, the timestamps are only by the minute, so you need to finish before the 20th minute after posting begins. If the quiz makes it online at 7:23:59 (worst possible case), you'd have to finish it in 19 minutes (by 7:42:59) to get credit.

Sorry about the close miss.

Thank you. That's exactly what I was trying to ask.

I appreciate the sympathy on the close miss as well.

My medium challenge today is:

Play 5 quizzes in sub-category Plays and score at least 6 correct in each. You may retake quizzes you have not played within the last 30 days.

So far, I have played two quizzes (Shakespeare Headlines! and Shakespeare By Body Count), which I hadn't played before. I got the points from playing, but the Daily Challenge page still shows:

So far: 0 quizzes.

Can someone please fix this? Otherwise it won't make sense to continue with this challenge.

Cheers,
Malama.

Shakespeare has his own sub category, as have many of the other authors listed. You need to make sure that you have stayed in the Plays sub category to receive the credit.

It happens often - I've done it myself, which is why I knew what to check as soon as I read your post. You can be in Literature, find a quiz only to discover it's in For Children, and I'm sure there are many other examples.

Why is it that every time I use my perk to substitute a challenge for another, that same challenge comes back the day after? Happened again today. Yesterday I had the challenge to ask a question in the Ask Funtrivia section, I changed it for another. This morning it turned up again. Isn't the whole point of the perk that I am able to get rid of that particular challenge for a while? Is that something that can be built into the system (the substituted challenge does not come up for at least a week/month or so)?

It's just bad luck. A particular challenge cannot be given two days in a row, but when you exchange a challenge, it's as if you've never been given it, so it's back in the possible choices for the next day.

With over 30 challenges per difficulty level, you shouldn't see an instant return too often, but it can't be completely avoided.

I've noticed there are a whole 12 people viewing this link at the moment. So that makes a good segue or Segway, if you are motoring your way through all your daily challenges smile

Two of my daily challenges today involve playing quizzes that have been placed online within the last 20 minutes and the other one is to play two newly created quizzes created that day.

Luckily, tomorrow is Sunday, so I may be able to complete one of these, maybe both. I'm sorry guys, but I'm pretty much over the American bias we seem to get on funtrivia. I'm married to an American so obviously I think they are pretty nice people, but how the hell is an Australian who plays through your "night" expected to get anywhere?

Hope for one of the Australian editors to find something they can put online. So far this morning I have sent two quizzes back for more work, but hope to have more success shortly. Of course, it's still pretty early morning, so that 20 minute window could still be a problem.

I had the challenge "play a quiz within 20 minutes" twice last week. I know that one was on a Friday evening. 6 Hours, no new quizzes. That night my other challenge was win a buzzy bee. 6 hours. No listing of a buzzy bee. Luck of the draw I assume. Not bias. que sera sera.

What a coincidence. An Aussie editor just put a quiz online. Hope you like knitting. smile

I got my challenges without having to complete the knitting quiz. I would have been tied up in knots with that one!

If anyone wants any knitting done so they don't freeze during the winter, orders are being taken here. However, you will die from hypothermia. It'll have something to do with the gigantic holes I'll have left in the knitted garment, and they won't just be the armpit thingees smile
