I've won the Buzzy Bee three times, once for the badge a while ago, once because it was category I liked, and then today for my challenge. I play the quizzes backward through the topic in question, so lowest rated to highest. I figure I improve my chances that way, since if the quiz was at the beginning (ie. the highest rated) someone would already have won it...does that make sense?

Lucky you! I did the Buzzy Bee yesterday and played 34 to get there. :P At least I didn't have to play all 104, I guess! Congratulations on the Daily Adventurer!

I had previously actually won the badge a few months ago, but there was more pressure this time to get 'challenge' points, so I'm relieved it's done, but this is what makes these games the challenge they're meant to be.

Congrats! What I like best about the Buzzy Bee is that it takes people to so many categories and subcategories they wouldn't normally play...and some they've probably never heard of! Glad I didn't screw you out of your own challenge points with my win earlier today If I had, that would have made me sad

How about a category safari? Score 7 or higher in a quiz in 8 different categories. You may retake quizzes you have not played within the last 30 days.

Should this say "player-authored quiz"? I tried one of the "bot" quizzes and didn't get credit.

I looked on the front page under the NEW tab, as well as the page that that the hyperlink in the puzzle brings you to. I was continuously refreshing both of those pages with no success. At least have the page that is linked to the puzzle update in real time to give the player the chance at that challenge. Thank you.

bigyaz, on the top line of the home page between Games and Team is Other. There is a drop down menu there and the first thing you'll see is The Buzz.
The other option is on the home page. Try the What's Up link to the right of the New link. Hope that helps.

Was that 114 after you had completed your starting three challenges? The FAQ could be clarified to say you should have 114 credits before completing those three.

I must admit, I think that happened to me too, in the first week (the hyperlinked page not showing the new quiz promptly enough) because I was watching like a hawk and only saw a quiz when it was too late to play.

I put it down to a glitch or me getting the wrong end of the stick or cached pages or something, but the next time I had that challenge I thought it was slow to update again -- I eventually flicked between all 3 of the suggested places just so I wouldn't miss it. That worked.

(30 minutes might be better, I don't know. Might make it easier on the nerves!! Definitely not unwinnable though - I've won it twice.)

I wonder about something in regards to the Buzzy Bee challenge. I've had that challenge twice now (and failed it too). Each time I noticed that the Buzzy Bee was found quite quickly, probably due to the fact that several people will have this challenge (on one of the days at least four people on my team had that particular challenge). Does it not make it more difficult for people (new posters) who simply want to earn that badge (without a challenge requiring them to do so)? The competition seems to be more fierce now, considering the fact that most people used to win that badge and then not play that anymore.

What's wrong with a little competition in earning the badge? It's always been a race anyway, and luck if you get it or not. It requires that you both find the quiz and get the required score in HTML mode. If someone plays the wrong mode or doesn't get the required score on the magic quiz, other people still have a chance. It's also possible that someone just stumbles across the magic quiz in regular play, not even knowing the quiz is the current magic quiz for the Hunt. It's supposed to be a challenge anyway, it's not a gimme. It's not impossible to win with all the competition out there either. Tekka played a Hunt that had already been live for over an hour yesterday and won it. The Hunt I won yesterday had been on for a while, too.

There is nothing wrong with a little competition and this has never been an easy badge to win. And it should not have to be. But I just simply wondered if isn't getting harder than it used to be for a poster to win the badge. Not sure whether that is a desired effect of the Challenges. I am not necessarily suggesting a fix here, just bringing it to attention to see how others feel about this. It is something that occurred to me, while playing this challenge.

It's harder than before the challenges started, yes. But not harder day-by-day, as the number of people getting that challenge is approximately constant day-to-day. So it's as hard now as it ever will be. It will also likely get easier over time as new challenges are added and it gets issued less frequently.

I play completely randomly. The ones I've played will be purple, so I can still keep track between quizzes I've played before and those I haven't... :P I figure everyone else goes forward or backwards, so dare to be different. :P

For those looking for quizzes in their first fifteen minutes - the "new quizzes" update on the home page only shows quizzes that are past that time. Click on "buzz" for new quizzes - for me it shows up on the home page right next to my mailbox, up top.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before ... apologies if so ... and it's probably more of a 'damn and blast' than a glitch per se ...

My difficult challenge today is to score higher than a nominated opponent in one Who's the Expert? game, with a maximum of four games each.

In my second game I messed up with a stupid error, and knew I could have done better. So I deployed my 'mulligan' perk for the week, avoided mistakes ... and did better.

I HOPED as a 'mulligan' perk that it wouldn't count as my third game, but would just replace the score for my second game. Of course it didn't.

Is that an intention within the game's design, or something that wasn't foreseen? Should it be changed, or not?

That's probably the issue then because as far as I can recall the hyperlink in the Daily Challenge brings you to here; sounds like it's more appropriate if it sends you the Buzz/What's Up page?

That happened twice to me when I used my Milligan. Someone had warned me about it before I used it in the challenge, so I knew it worked that way. This was brought up several pages back but nothing was said about it by Terry the last time, so it's good you brought it back up, I think It will bring it up to his attention again when he next reads this thread.

In my Medium and Difficult challenges today neither has a hyperlink to Mind Melt or Daily Game as needed, and they always have before. Does that classify as a bug? My Easy challenge was hyperlinked.

Is there a danger of some of the challenges diluting some of the features of the site? In my opinion, the standard of some of the questions in Ask Funtrivia seems to be declining.

I was just thinking the same. There have been several lately that have come in as sets...I didn't know there was one that required you to ask a question until I got it last week. I haven't seen it ask for more than one to be posted though. The one I saw a couple times in testing, that I think is a much better challenge relating to that part of the site, is one which asks you to answer a question or to provide more information to a previously answered question.

That one is still in there; I've gotten both. I do agree with dippo, though. I've also noticed that more responses are citing to sources, but not providing a link (e.g., "According to Wikipedia, . . ."). I don't know if that's because the challenges are directing more people to Ask FT who aren't as familiar with the guidelines, but it's something I noticed.

And the questions are becoming far easier...

The use of this aspect of the site is to get answers to questions you cannot find on your own. When I had those tasks, I found it difficult to find a question I would genuinely like an answer for, but could not find through my own research. I would imagine I am one of the few who actually take the time to find a question they WANT answered, AND cannot find the info on their own.

I agree that it should be removed. Or given only to players who will actually use it for what it is.

It is amazing how difficult it is to come up with questions like that. As someone who is going for the "AskFT Researcher" badge, though, it is nice to have some of the questions that I don't have spend hours doing searches for. I've only asked a few questions in that part of site, because like you said, I want to ask questions that are in the spirit of that part of this site, and it is soooo hard to come up with good questions.

I'm stockpiling questions.

Just wondering why in both of my nemesis games in the difficult area, I was given the same player? Is this player the only one that I will be competing against? Or is there a rotation?
