<A href="http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Humanities/Obscure-Musical-Theatre-243771.html">Play Quiz: Obscure Musical Theatre now!</a>

I can play others, thought I should report the apparent bug in system, as I read we were asked to do.
I'm also hesitant to play others as getting 9 right isn't always easy in unfamiliar topics and if the score won't be counted it's time I'd rather use playing the hourly games.

Thanks. I've checked the quiz (which I had also played long ago, for Mission Impossible), playing it twice (once in HTML and once in game mode). In both cases, my score was registered, but only the HTML one seems to show in the play history.

Since the play and scoring is unrelated to the challenge (the challenge only looks at the scores you played today), it can't have an impact whether the quiz was for the challenge or not.

Pretty much the only thing I could imagine is that your browser erroneously cached the quiz results page and never actually submitted the quiz since none of your plays shows in the history at all. Terry can probably have a look at it to see if the server logs even contain a submit from you, but the problem is not related to the challenge.

If you're going to juggle some codes for things like that, here's an idea that I just worked out. I converted a complicated numerical code into a simple letter code. If you could plug the code listed below into the system, I would really appreciate it.

One bug I've come across three times already is when you're asked to play PoC under a certain time. All three times, when I've gone to check out my challenges for the first time that day, I have already had a 10 better than the time given, but it doesn't accept the earlier scores from that day. I have to see the challenge page before I can beat the score needed. In the other challenges, all previous scores were counted. I think it's been 18.0 or better in all three instances. It just may be a particular challenged which needs a small tweak. It's not by design to require a first look before having to achieve the required time, is it? It's not exactly clear to me.

I've just played the quiz "'H' is for Hard" and scored 9 correct answers, but I haven't got the credit for my easy challenge to "Play a quiz whose title begins with the letter H and score at least 3 correct." I thought the quotation marks weren't counted.

I confess I haven't read through all comments in this thread, [and this is not strictly a bug, I'm sure] but I do wonder if I might be the player with the highest number of Daily Challenges completed [370] never to have been offered a single Epic!

Wow, that does sound quite unusual (although very unlikely to be a bug). How many would you guess that you have bought?

I second Adam's WOW - I feel for you!
I thought I had it bad, I've completed 385 challenges of which were 4 Epics. But if you read back, even Wesley hasn't received 1 single Epic since the challenge started.

It depends on how many we're bought, though. One could eventually have 10,000 completed, but if they haven't bought any, it's not too unusual. wink I wish I kept track of how many I've bought. :P

I buy a challenge every day that 'funds' allow. I try never to buy more than two a day, as they become increasingly expensive. I have certainly eked credits out to buy as many as possible, though - almost one a day since the Daily Challenges began, I would say...

I do the same, Sooz. I have 394 under my belt and 2 of them were epics - both very early on in the game, and within days of each other I think, and the same challenge believe it or not! Since then, not a hint of an epic. But that's what random means and it doesn't bother me ....but if I'd never had one I would be very frustrated by now.

I hope you get one very, very soon! smile

And you, Wes!

I just found out my medium challenge today is PoC in 22 or less. I've already achieved that today, but it's not acknowledged. There's a definite PoC daily challenge bug or difference from how the other daily challenges are scored.

If I remember right, this particular stage type was changed to non-retroactive based on player feedback - a bunch of folks were not very happy to buy a challenge, get a difficult one and have it immediately solved from a game they play rather often. (Of course the same was then applied to the medium)

I don't see why anyone would want it non-retroactive. You already completed the requirements; everything else stays the same except the time of day someone gets the challenge. Maybe they think it's too easy? I'd think people would be talking about too difficult challenges instead of too easy challenges.

Actually I did misremember it - the challenge that was changed to non-retroactive wasn't the PoC one but an Epic (whose first winner had met the requirements before the buy and thus had a rather non-epic Epic: "You win".)

Another reason for this one to be non-retro comes to mind however in that a retro scoring could never be 100% exact: The challenge asks for a score of X seconds or better with X being an integer. However, if you had a game on the cusp, this would not be able to be determined retroactively. If your target is 18.0 seconds, a past 982 game could be a hit or a miss (With 17.51 to 18.00 it's a hit, but with 18.01 to 18.50 it would be a failed one).

Since it would be rather weird to have this one score backwards if you played 17.5 or better, but not if you were between 17.51 and 18.0 (it would not know whether your score was good since only points are stored beyond the current and last hour), I guess it's more consistent to always do it "forward only". I agree however that the challenge should indicate it.

I've completed 433 (which is literally 99% of all of them that I've ever gotten) and I've only ever gotten 1 epic, about a month ago. I'm really looking forward to epics being more common.

I don't know if this is true for all, but I generally never get Epics on my first buy. I only get them in multiple buy situations, so maybe that is a factor?

I don't think so. Both Epics that I got this week were my first buy of the day.

Yes, that particular piece of cake challenge is not retroactive because we don't store the times accurately enough in the "previous game" data.

Not sure if this has been covered before.

My medium challenge today is to score 2848 points in 3 different categories, using quiz game mode. I have achieved this in 2 of the categories without problems. However, my cumulative score in the 3rd is stuck on 2353, even though I have played several additional quizzes which should have taken me over the target score.

Cal, I can see three possible reasons for the "stuck" situation that happen rather frequently (the first being the most common one by far):

- You have followed a linked subcategory (one not shown by a folder icon but an arrow) that isn't in the main category you actually wanted to play. (Take a look for example at http://www.funtrivia.com/ql.cfm?cat=3674 - that's For Children / Harry Potter. If you now however click on "Harry Potter Movies", you'd be in Movies and the quizzes would no longer count for a challenge requiring you to play FC quizzes.
- You have accidentally replayed quizzes that you have already taken in the last 30 days
- You are not loading the summary page at the end of the quiz. When you get the end screen in the Flash, you're not yet scored - you must click the "My Results" button and get the page that follows (I've myself fallen victim to that one a few times).

Please check that you've not accodentally done any of these three - most problems of this kind are caused by one of them.

If this doesn't explain it, feel free to post again.

Thanks Wes. That explains it. Unfortunately, the link I clicked took me out of the Literature main category, into the For Kids category. Not Harry Potter, but Chronicles of Narnia!

I will have to look for another Lit sub category where I can answer questions.

Carol

I have 336 challenges completed and 3 Epics (and one of those is just a double flag one). I have never gotten one on the first buy, and the even on the day that I bought 11 challenges (going for my 10 badge) I got zero epics!

I'm pretty sure the epics I've won were on the first buy.

And about a month apart; October 10, November 14, December 14. :P

GRRRR

I just wasted all of my 9 points to get another failed challenge - I played the game earlier today and did not score enough points.

I HATE it when that happens.

I think we all do, but it isn't really a bug, so shouldn't be reported here.
