Where are the Instaquizzes? Are they still around somewhere?
It is very possible that I can't see for looking, but I can't find them anywhere confused

The Instaquiz and Instaquiz scores are listed at the bottom of the "Games" drop-down menu.

That dropdown menu is very long, and the last four or five items don't show up on my screen - you have to manoeuvre a bit to get there. Maybe one of the reasons I rarely play them, and only use them to try and adjust my points total to a precise target.

Aha! I never use that particular drop down so it never occurred to me to look there. Thanks all.
There did used to be a link direct from the home page once upon a time didn't there? Or am I going mad?

You are correct that there used to be a link directly from the home page.
{As to whether you are going mad... I don't have the necessary psychiatric qualifications to answer that crazy}

Instaquizzes are on the extinction list and will likely end sometime soon. The game is simply too old and buggy to keep running.

NOooooo I haven't got the 6789 and whatever the other score precision badgelet is yet!
Will there be some other way to tweak one's score to an exact figure?

Row, there are enough ways already. You just have to apply them in the correct order smile

And as a reminder mentioned in threads before, if you experience unscrollable drop downs that are dropped below the bottom of your screen, set the zoom factor on your browser to a level below 100% momentarily. This brings those things into view. Then you can reset the zoom to 100%.

I'm with Rowena on this one. If I spent a lot of time thinking about it, I could probably plan how to hit the given target, but I couldn't have gotten either badgelet without the Instaquiz. Getting rid of it won't bother me, but it would be nice to have some way of increasing your score by tiny increments.

Rowena, it seems you'll have to hurry.

Don't forget the Three Keys if you don't already have it.

Using the instaquizzes to get the final points isn't even the optimum strategy for the precision badges.

Here's a hint: Deal with the last digit first, way before worrying about the others.

No no, I'm with Row... to get precise points, I like to get close, then use the insta-quizzes to whittle my way down to what I need.

It's easier that way than to work on the last digit first. :P

I forgot about that one Jan! That just makes my wail of Noooooo even more desperate laugh
I have no idea how to even think about "fiddling" my score so precisely without the instaquiz. That itself has given me so much trouble I've never managed it successfully (as shown by my lack of the badgelets!) let alone figuring out some other way to do it...

This is how I did it, for both of them. I got the last number with hourlies and such (a bit of luck, but mostly planning when I got about half way), and then got the big points.

So that means another badge that future players can no longer achieve, the Just A Minute Badge? I guess I'll have to get lucky soon then. Also that means the Country badge is out too, I suppose? I know there are always new badges being added which is great, but it's kind of downer that those badges will no longer be able to be won simply because a game is being retired.
I've played the Instaquiz many times to try for those badges & also to tweak points (it was very helpful getting my Three Keys badge) & I've never encountered any bugs or problems. Just wondering if was possible to reconsider or put it to a vote a least.

Personally, I found the "Quick Quiz" much more useful than the "Instaquiz" for that final "tweaking" for the precision and "3 Keys" badges. The ability to answer one question at a time was crucial! But of course everyone has their own system that works for them.

Oh no I'll be gutted if/when the Instaquiz goes.

The point precision badges are in my sights but I've had bigger fish to fry so far.

Please don't take the Instaquiz away!

I only recently rediscovered it. I thought it was buggy, but then I realized the problem was with my configuration (I have a custombizable script-blocker and flash-blocker).

I also had to figure out that you have to double-click to get an answer through! (Silly me.)

They are really fun, and much more enjoyable than the Quick Quizzes becasue the questions repeat WAY too much.

BTW, so does the Monster Quiz, which claims not to. frown

Really, maybe you are further in the Monster than I am, but I haven't noticed repeat questions. Sometimes there are questions that are similar, but not exactly the same, as far as I've found. Have others come across repeats in the Monster?

Sue

My belief was that each question has a record number assigned to it in the dataBase and that the Quizbot that assembles the monster quiz has built in commands not to repeat numbers. As Sue said, many questions from different authors come out almost exactly the same (but the I/I should be different).

(That'll be $20, Sue. Same payment method as the other times of backing you up?)

Maybe gracious1 means that the questions in the Monster Quiz have been seen elsewhere on the site. I don't know that I've had a question come up again in that particular quiz, although I'd be hard pushed to remember, but I have seen many of the questions previously.

Oh, maybe you are right. Maybe I have seen the questions in another game. That would explain the deja vu. I thought I read in another thread, though, that Terry had pared down the Monster question database a lot (but now I cannot find this thread). But, as you say, the questions could have appeared in other games.

This has got to be it because every question in the Monster does come from another quiz on the FT site. Plus, those questions are sometimes used in the hourlies, GC, etc. So none of the questions in the Monster are exclusive to the Monster, but none of them are repeated within the Monster, if that makes sense...

Sue: I'm pretty tough for an old buzzard, but I'd still find out in advance (it's called hedging your bet lol) how much mehaul weighs before you attempt to toss him (giggles).

Sorry Sue, I can't chance not having the income. Looks like I'll be needing to buy a lot of challenges here soon. In the mail it is then (Western Union doesn't come this far East)?
