I tried the Ten in a Day badge today and ended up with 2 challenges which are not decided until midnight [FT time] and I am therefore effectively blocked from buying further challenges - stalemate - any ideas?
sooz888 As a Gold Member, do you still have that switch a challenge perk? I think you can switch one out if you do, unless it's an Epic, or challenge involving a partner. Otherwise, hate to say this, but, tough luck. Try again some other time. :s

Depending on how early (as in how many challenges you have) you got the challenge, it may not take long to regain the necessary credits. That is an advantage of being quickly (rather than lately) inelgible to get the minibadge.

That is an advantage of being quickly (rather than lately) ineligible to get the minibadge. However, you cannot make a purchase with two incomplete challenges, so if you have two that don't finish until the end of the day, and can't use your Gold Member perk to swap one of them, you have run out of luck.

I just want to clarify that I mean suppose you buy a challenge and that causes the number of "doesn't end until midnight" challenges to increase to 2. You also don't have your Gold Member swap. All you did was spend 9 credits, and to try again, all you have to do is regain those 9 credits. If that 2nd "doesn't end until midnight" challenge was Challenge #7, then you would have spent 54 credits (9+12+15+18), and you would have to spend more time gaining back those 54 credits.

According to the FAQ page for Daily Challenges, "You can have only one unsolved challenge (failed or still in progress) in your list when you buy a challenge." This means that, no matter how many credits you have available, you cannot make any more purchases if there are still two incomplete ones that won't finish until the end of the day. You have run into a brick wall, and been extremely unlucky.

Yes, but I think what Buddy is saying is that if you get your second midnight challenge earlier, then you will have spent fewer credits in the attempt, and thus will have more available for the next attempt.

Ah, I see. You're dead in the water that day, but won't have to wait long for your next attempt. And if you had waited until you had an ample cushion, you might even be able to try it the next day.

You've found a box of old photographs. Score at least 7 answers correct in 4 of the following photo quizzes. But...Two of them aren't old! I saw them go online not long ago!

My Easy challenge was to find a quiz of 20 questions and score at least half right. I know our team did a 25 question quiz two years ago and so retook that one. The challenge page didn't credit me with a completion. I could find no applicable blurb in the FAQs to explain why not. It leaves me with two(+) questions: 1) Doesn't a 25 question Quiz satisfy the requirement of a 20 q quiz or does it have to be a quiz with exactly 20 and that is why I wasn't credited? Or, 2) Since it was a team quiz, was I blocked somehow for it counting in the challenges even though my name's not in the title? Does the FAQ need to be updated to address the relevance of Team created quizzes? Can authors use their own quizzes to satisfy challenges?

or does it have to be a quiz with exactly 20 Unless you scored below half, this is the only reason your challenge would not count. The challenge said to find a 20 question quiz and you didn't-- you took a 25 question quiz. Does the FAQ need to be updated to address the relevance of Team created quizzes? No. There is absolutely no difference.

No difference from self-authored or from quizzes from other authors? I asked whether team quizzes fall into self or other and the reply is no difference? Does that mean they can be counted as both or neither?
On the first one, I thought 15 Qs were good in some cases that asked to get at least 7 correct answers but that most are done using the most prevalent 10Q quizzes. I seem to recall a 15 among a list of 10s in one of my previous challenges. That is what led me to believe a quiz having more Qs than called for was acceptable.
Put another way: Had our Team quiz been of 20 Q length and I'd gotten them all correct, the challenge would have been satisfied?

No difference from self autrhored or from quizzes from other authors? I never responded to your question about self-authored quizzes. No-- you will not receive credit for your own quizzes. You asked about team quizzes-- it being a team quiz has no bearing on whether or not you can complete a challenge with it. It is still a quiz. Even if you wrote one question in it or five or nine or however many, you can still play it and it will count provided, as I already said, you are not the author. I seem to recall a 15 among a list of 10s in one of my previous challenges. It probably wasn't asking for the same thing as this challenge-- there are many different variations; some will give you quizzes to play and some will not. Had our Team quiz been of 20 Q length and I'd gotten them all correct, the challenge would have been satisfied? As long as you weren't the author.

And, from your last query, authors cannot use their own quizzes to satisfy challenges. A team quiz led by someone else is fine, a team quiz led by themselves is registered as their own, and doesn't count.

This was one of my challenges today: Today you will be playing I'm the Expert! against another player. Whoever holds the highest score today in a single Who's the Expert hourly game at midnight will win this challenge. Only your first 4 plays of this game today will be considered for this challenge, so pick your attempts wisely! I've played two Expert games and scored quite well in both, but for some reason neither have shown up. I did play them "today" as in "today in FT standard time", so that's not problem. However, I did play them both before checking my daily challenges, so would that have caused this?

That challenge only counts plays after the challenge is issued. Is this a new development? When I tested it, it counted plays from before the challenge was issued...

I think when we tested it, it did count old scores. Then it was changed to make it more fair, so players wouldn't have submitted four terrible scores randomly, get assigned the challenge, and wish they could pick and choose which ones to play. So it was not like that when we tested, but was changed fairly soon after going online. :P

My Medium challenge says: Play the Easy Game and score 10/10 within 35.0 seconds. Not beaten yet. Incomplete
But I have succeeded; Piece of Cake shows 10 correct in 32.99 sec.
It looks like the challenge should be complete.
I played another game a couple of hours later and scored 10/10 in 28.5 sec. This time I was awarded the medium challenge. No idea why it didn't work earlier.

Thanks to Mariamir for that, but sadly, I'd already used my 'perk' and switched off the Difficult Challenge on the Crystal Ball. I knew from experience that my chances of winning that today were slim to none... at least it would have kept some hope alive. I'll save it next time.... maybe I was just unlucky?
sooz This is why when I decided to do my quest for the 10 in a Day i chose a day just after I'd had Crystal Ball. Strategy in when to go for the badge plays a big part in winning it, making sure the challenges that you are bad appear in the day or two beforehand lessens the probability they'll pop up and destroy your challenge.

That does bring up something interesting. My difficult challenge (or rather my bought difficult challenge) was to score at least 1428 points in today's The Daily Game - using the TIMED mode. If I was to get exactly 1428 points, would that count? I would assume yes, but I just want to make sure.

It's the equivalent of the "greater than or equal to" in math.
