Do the games take some time to appear or is it just mad at me?

I have played 17 new questions and none were registered as having been completed. I also completed thye medium challenge and it was also not recorded. I like the daily challenges and think it will be a good game when ironed out.

No challenge of the same type and difficulty level will repeat two days in a row. If you receive it day 1 and swap it out, it can arrive day 2, but that doesn't sound like what you are describing.

Have had other people miss Obscurity too, so I've added a list of all games to the challenge.

One of my teammates, davidcgraham has this challenge:

However, he doesn't have gold membership. Can he get a new one in its place?

Thanks for the response. I assumed all quizzes were "player quizzes", including the ones listed as FTQuizBot. (since they are all submitted by players). Given the correct understanding, the challenge is complete. Thanks

I inititally had an issue with the Buzzy Bee challenge because the challenge description says, "Scavenger hunts begin completely randomly throughout the week. Keep an eye out on the Buzz for new hunts". I didn't realize that they run and regenerate pretty constantly (multiple times a day), which completely eliminates my concern that there would be no game available on certain days.

Terry, I didn't bank the new questions as you suggested and now that I know you have to do that, will do so in the future. Never played that quiz before. I wonder do you have any hints as to what I am doing wrong with the part of the challenge that requires me to complete two new quizzes posted today, which I did do? I am sorry if I am being thick here.

You need to do quizzes that were actually added today. Since the FT day is right now just under 12 hours old, you have just two options at the moment - the Venus quiz and the one on Canadian Celebrities. All other quizzes listed under "New" were added yesterday.

Edit: Seems the mixes don't count for this one - you need actual player quizzes (where the author is not FTQuizBot)

OK seems a little confusing but I will look for the ones that aren't mixes and that have been added new. I went to the Buzz to look for new quizzes but I must have missed these. Thanks.

Toward the top of the home page, just under the large 'FunTrivia' logo, is a section with several tabs. The first is for 'New' Quizzes, and clearly specifies when they came on line

May I suggest that the line "Play 2 new quizzes that are added to FunTrivia today, scoring at least 50% in each." be edited to state that player-generated quizzes (as opposed to quizbot)are required? That would save at least my confusion. "Postcards", thank you for directions but that is where I had been to find the two quizzes that I had completed but didnt realize that most didn't count as new quizzes.

If nothing else, the new challenge will certainly lead to more understanding of the 'ins and outs' of the site. Some of the queries have been somewhat 'interesting'.

Surdoux, I was actually surprised last night when I took a few moments to read through some of the chat board threads that relate to challenges (normal challenges).

I guess when you add stuff incrementally over a 10 year period you end up with a lot of stuff. I was amazed at the variety and the depth that we've got content-wise. A new player starting today on FT has at least 10 years of stuff to do AS IS, with no additional content or games added. That's pretty remarkable.

It is a remarkable site Terry, and is a credit to you and your team. Particularly as you all continually improve and extend the site without relying on a 'it will do as it is' mentality that could so easily have been taken. If I had a hat, I'd doff it.

First off, I have been using this site for almost a year now, and love funtrivia. Secondly, other than the global challenges, these Daily Challenges are the most exciting thing to do every day here. That being said, I registered for the forums for the exclusive purpose of my suggestion. Yesterday, my Difficult challenge was to score a score of 560 on Easy or Hard Hourly quizzes, specifically in the General category. I found out about the challenge at 7 AM funtrivia time, and checked to see if there had been a general category for either Easy or Hard already that day. I found out that the Hard had last had that category expiring at midnight, thereby not being eligible for yesterday, and that the Easy had been at 1 AM. The entire rest of the day, NEITHER Easy or Hard had a single General category. This to me seems extremely unreasonable and arbitrary. A couple of things as I see them.

1) Random is random, and sometimes a particular category may take a while to show up.
2) Not every challenge is supposed to be doable on a given day, frustrating as this may be.
3) If you were a gold member you would be able to change a challenge once a day and eliminate some of these.

However, making a challenge dependent upon a score, that was literally only available once, out of 48 possible slots is very biased. This would prohibit people in multiple time zones (India vs. US for instance) from having an equal chance in a day by making it inevitably during someone's sleep cycle. Even if you have to cycle through all the possible categories in a given day, can we at least offset different difficulties by more than a few hours? For instance, set the category rotation for Easy, Medium and Hard to be offset by 8 hours, thereby allowing for the possibility of completing challenges like this at least once every 8 hours.

I know that I am complaining about a single occurance, of what ultimately boils down to pure bad luck. But, by going with category offset times, you would greatly reduce the odds of bad luck happening across similar challenges. Yes, the challenge was tagged as a difficult one, but having to camp funtrivia's site every single hour for a chance of completing a challenge was a bit over the top. This goes back to your (Terry's) comment earlier of a challenge targeting a single quiz being a bit too harsh. In that case, you were referring to having to win a category (the Word Wizard Champions division was the example) targeting too narrow a goal. By allowing for more variation of the categories, my offset idea or something similar, you would eliminate this from happening again.

I appreciate all the great things the mods do for and on this site, and really like it. The Daily Challenge is a very good thing, and most of my other complaints about it are very very minor, and probably personal preference more than anything else. Please take my idea or something similar into consideration. Thanks.

Actually bushidox, Wesley brought up that precise concern in testing and we decided to let it go and see how it worked out. So it's known that it might be an issue.

We could probably throw a 2nd (maybe even 3rd) category in there if need be to decrease the chance significantly of having bad luck.
