I grew up in a tourist heaven; Stonehenge was only a few miles up the road and visitors always wanted to go there. When I was a teenager we had a German exchange student staying with us for a while and we took her to Stonehenge. "Why," she gasped, "it's nothing but a pile of old rubble."

There are the lazy days of Summer and then there are the lazy days of Autumn. I was sitting on a dam to take this picture, the river isn't this wide. It was a beautiful day and I hated to leave.

I don't think I've added this country lane near Radlett but rather easy to lose track after so many similar.

Howie, CmdrK and Sat, those are great photos. Each one looks so peaceful and make me want to visit there.

Zorba, that is a neat looking temple. I'm glad you said it was the Monkey God, because that's what it looks like and I didn't want to appear rude.

OK, one more photo from the ghost town. I don't know what kind of truck this is, but I'd sure like to own it.

I like the contrast in this shot between the dark clouds on the left, then the red sunset clouds and then blue sky. Unfortunately my camera just could not get in focus with the shots I took of the clouds that day, so it is a bit blurry.

Dan it doesn't stop it being most beautiful! Lovely.

ClaraSue, that might be an International truck. I think they made firetrucks in the 1940s and 1950s.

Satguru, your new camera is very impressive. The optics appear to be really good. Any problems using the viewer in bright sunlight?

My little dam pond shot is from well within the town limits of Loudon, New Hampshire. Obviously, Loudon is not a large metropolis.

Yesterday, hubby and I spent the day in Las Vegas, Nevada and this is the Eiffel Tower replica outside of the Paris Casino/Hotel.

So far as long as I don't have the sun too direct it's behaved itself, the other one shut down when it was sunny if the sun wasn't right behind it. I'm working my way through the functions gradually (not so easy without instructions on paper and a diagram on the screen like the flight deck of a 747 but seem to have avoided the problems I was having when I started so far.

Another photo, another statue....this time we have Nelson's Column at Trafalgar Square so at a more touristy place. Last time I was there I could not get as good a photo as there were lots and lots of people. This time it was the day before something was happening (cannot remember what) but they were going to close some streets to traffic and The Mall was lined with Union Jack flags. At first I thought I was being welcomed to London but then I realised there would have been New Zealand flags....lol

You seem to have got great weather in London, Howie. Nice photo, Christinap, it would've fit the Blue theme thread too. ClaraSue, for a minute I thought the truck photo was taken on a 'Cars' set.

ClaraSue, they're a local Indian variety called Bedgi.

This is the Barge Inn at Battlesbridge, about 2 miles from us. The whole site is an old granary and various other buildings which is now a big antiques centre. The Inn is popular with tourists in summer and does a very nice lunch or evening meal.

The "Barge Inn"? The American version of that would be the "Dew Drop Inn".

At my house, I have a little sign that says "do drop in" : )
Of course, I don't mean EVERYbody, so I have another one that says "no soliciting" lol

Everybody should know who this guy is. He had the suit and a breathing machine of some sort that made him sound right, but he lacked the height.

I posted this photo in Wimbledon Park on the Ordnance Survey site as usual, and just won photo of the week from 5854 in total.
