In the beginning God created day and night. He created day for footy matches, going to the beach and barbies. He created night for going prawning, sleeping and barbies. God saw that it was good. Evening came and morning came and it was the Second Day.

On the Second Day God created water - for surfing, swimming and barbies on the beach. God saw that it was good. Evening came and morning came and it was the Third Day.

On the Third Day God created the Earth to bring forth plants - to provide tobacco, malt and yeast for beer and wood for barbies. God saw that it was good. Evening came and morning came and it was the Fourth Day.

On the Fourth Day God created animals and crustaceans and chops, sausages, steak and prawns for barbies. God saw that it was good.

Evening came and morning came and it was the Fifth Day.

On the Fifth! ! Day God created a bloke - to go to the footy, enjoy the beach, drink the beer and eat the meat and prawns at barbies. God saw that it was good.

Evening came and morning came it was the Sixth Day.

On the Sixth Day God saw that this bloke was lonely and needed someone to go to the footy, surf, drink beer, eat and stand around the barbie with, so God created Mates, and God saw that they were good blokes.

God saw that it was good.

Evening came and morning came and it was the Seventh Day.

On the Seventh Day God saw that the blokes were tired and needed a rest. So God created Sheilas - to clean the house, bear children, wash,
cook and clean the barbie.

Evening came and it was the end of the Seventh Day.

God sighed, looked around at the twinkling barbie fires, heard the hiss of opening beer cans and the raucous laughter of all the Blokes and Sheilas, smelled the aroma of grilled chops and sizzling prawns, and God saw that it was not just good, it was better than that, it was bloody great!!!!

IT WAS AUSTRALIA!!

shocked
So that's another country I'm really not suited to. My world tour is getting shorter by the month.

Texans say Texas is God's Country, so...

"Houston, we may have a problem!"

I've done the bearing children bit, but I'm blowed if I'm going to be housecleaning and washing stuff in Paradise. Not even for my own personal clone of Hugh Jackson.
Everyone knows that Yorkshire is God's Own Country.

Unfortunately, you are all mistaken... It is a fact that God's country is Dorset! I live in Devon but am here on missionary work!

Corrective Note:
How can God have a country when She's dead? Might this better have been worded "God's former place of residence."? This covers the eventuality that She is still alive but may one day not be. We have to watch the time stamping.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but New Zealand is more likely than most to be the aforesaid "God's former place of residence". Supporting evidence; no snakes, only one very shy poisonous spider (although the odd Red Back has been found visiting from Australia), no scorpions, no dangerous mammals (except in zoos), no dangerous reptiles, a small population, a temperate climate, a good sporting culture, The All Blacks, good musicians, good actors, good film makers, low levels of corruption, a well functioning democracy just to name a few. P.S. This is not a secret, so come over and have a look, because we also have a great tourism industry. P.P.S. New Zealand is also very close to Australia possibly causing their confusion.

You didn't mention the honey
I find that rather divine.
Even so, God's country is still Cornwall.
