Well, it came a bit late, but I got my 4th epic (almost once a month still).

Unfortunately, it was the green epic, and, even though I scored a bit higher than normal, I failed the challenge before it even began.

I'm almost teary eyed, my first failed epic. I earned it in testing, I should get the flag anyway. :P

Odd place to post it, Terry... The badge thread is elsewhere. :P

But that one is awesome and exciting!

Commiserations Salami. I always tend to buy my challenges before I do the dailies etc, that way I don't get unexpected surprises.

My first challenges to get enough credits involved dailies. :P I also figure, I always do my best, so I'm not going to get any more points with the epic already given. wink

Squeaky bum time on the double green Epic flag today won it by just 14 points. Phew! That was close.

Hello smile

I think there's a hiccup in the third level of the Daily Challenge today.

It says "Play the Easy Game and score 10/10 within 24.0 seconds".

I got that on the previous game - 19 seconds or something - and actually won that hour's play - but it's say "Not beaten yet".

I think the wording may be incomplete for what we have to do OR it's not registering completion?

Over to you smile

Creedy, did you play that one before getting the challenge? This is one of the few games that does not work retroactively (because the storage of past plays is not accurate enough to determine sub-second differences)

Another reason for this one to be non-retro comes to mind however in that a retro scoring could never be 100% exact: The challenge asks for a score of X seconds or better with X being an integer. However, if you had a game on the cusp, this would not be able to be determined retroactively. If your target is 18.0 seconds, a past 982 game could be a hit or a miss (With 17.51 to 18.00 it's a hit, but with 18.01 to 18.50 it would be a failed one).

Since it would be rather weird to have this one score backwards if you played 17.5 or better, but not if you were between 17.51 and 18.0 (it would not know whether your score was good since only points are stored beyond the current and last hour), I guess it's more consistent to always do it "forward only". I agree however that the challenge should indicate it.

This is from a couple of pages back. Terry has also confirmed, about three posts later, that the timings are not saved accurately enough for it to be retrospective.

Edit - to add that Wes responded while I was copying this over.

I just reported a hiccup in the third level of the Daily Challenge for today - but my entry has also got the hiccups and disappeared altogether.

Onwards and upwards.

The wording said "Play the Easy Game and score 10/10 within 24.0 seconds".

I did that and won the previous hour's game with a time of approximately 19 seconds, but it's saying "This is incomplete".

Is there a problem with the wording of what we had to do OR perhaps with the game registering that the terms had been met?

Over to you, Terry smile

Wesley, do you think the FAQ should be updated to add that the easy hourly game (POC) is an exception to the system accepting scores from games and quizzes played before accessing the challenge? The issue seems to come up repeatedly in the forums.

Here's my Difficult challenge today:
Quote:
Ready to take a tour of our categories? Score at least 10 questions correct in any quiz in 16 different categories (Animals, Brain Teasers, Geography, etc). You may replay quizzes not taken in the past 30 days.

Does this mean I need to get 10 questions correct in one quiz per category? Or does this mean I can accumulate a total of 10 questions per category?

I ask because, seriously, if it is the former, this seems unrealistic!

10 per quiz. But who says they all have to be 10-question quizzes?

It is, after all, a Difficult Challenge. I recommend looking for 15-question (or even more) quizzes rated easy - there are a lot of them running around. These challenges really force players to explore what is available here in the more-than-100,000 quizzes currently online.

Just curious, not sure if this has been covered... for the challenges that give you a list of quizzes and say "Play 8 of these quizzes scoring at least 5 correct" or whatever, is there some kind of 'goodness' threshold in selecting the listed quizzes? I think I've seen Terry explain before that it selects ones that have been played a great number of times therefore being pretty popular, but does the rank have anything to do with it? I got one today in a challenge that was seriously a bad quiz. There was no interesting info whatsoever and had several errors in it.

I've got a little problem.
For my challenge today, I'm asked (again) to add 2 more questions to the question pool (which I usually don't mind).
This is the second time this week, and I still had another 2 waiting to be checked (all of these questions were added due to the daily challenges), so I now have 4 questions waiting to be checked and it won't let me add another 2, hence I'm unable to complete the challenge if not at least one of the waiting questions either gets approved or declined.
Please help!

(I've already added 1 new question this morning, so there are now 5 questions waiting to be checked, and it won't let me add my 2nd question to complete the challenge.)

I wouldn't say that it's fine - even if you can now complete the challenge, that situation can't be that unlikely and it will still be a problem.

If Terry can code it so that you won't get the challenge if you have 3+ questions in the queue, that would be great. If he can't, maybe the challenge should be removed altogether.

Yes, that'd actually be a good idea Adam.
I think usually you wouldn't get this challenge twice in 1 week, but I swapped one of my challenges this week, and I received the 'add 2 new questions' instead (and also had the same challenge last week).

The alternative would of course be to let you submit past the 5 limit while you have an unsolved copy of the challenge.

This seems the best solution for me. I like having that Daily Challenge as an impetus to work on Single Questions. smile

My difficult challenge today is "Twin" but at 11.30pm here with me about to go to bed I still have no twin assigned so it is impossible for me to complete this challenge.
