I had a odd occurrence today for my "easy" challenge. It was to play a quiz by author Islingtonian and score 5 right. Only problem is that I get "user unknown" when I search for either quizzes by that author or search for that name. Guess I'll have to use my trade option for this one!

I have a problem with challenges that are about doing crosswords. I have received
two challenges to complete a crossword - hard daily challenge.
Both times I wasn't whisked away when it was complete (correctly) and even clicking
on the crossword didn't help. So I didn't get credit, and I wasted a lot of time.
Can you help me?

A member of our team had that problem as well, ghosttowner.

It seems to me that if you search from the search bar on the homepage, you cannot find the person. But if you search from your profile page, it will come up. Very strange. Something is definitely buggy about it, I believe.

What is the precise error message you get when you search for him?

What is the precise URL of the page that displays that message?

Thx

If I recall it's missing .html at the end of the URL from the challenge page.

Did you see my question about the crossword challenge above?
Is there an answer for it?
I should have earned two hard challenges on those glitches, but didn't.

From my experience with the crosswords if you are told to do them in hard mode they have to be completely correct to be 'whisked away' so perhaps a letter or two wasn't correct on yours, even if you thought it was complete. On the other hand if it's done in easy mode then you wouldn't have any red incorrect letters left in the squares.

One of my Medium Challenges for today was:

"Play any three average, tough, or difficult 10-question player quizzes in a row, achieving scores of at least 7 on each. You may play quizzes that you have not played in at least 30 days for this challenge."

It has given me credit for a quiz I took that was rated Impossible (I did score enough for it to count). I'm curious if this is an error as the challenge only specifies 3 options for difficulties, or if the challenge should be reworded to something like "play any three 10-question player quizzes in a row, with a difficulty of average or harder". I know that the ranges were expanded in the rare case that while playing the quiz, the difficulty changes, but Impossible seems beyond the reach of that, considering there's also the Very Difficult rating before you get to it.

Edit: I also just noticed that it has counted a quiz with an Easy difficulty rating. So there is definitely something wrong with the challenge, unless the Easy rating is right on the border.

I just swapped out a challenge that I knew I couldn't complete by midnight. In its place I got the "Who's The Expert" challenge. I have not, however, been assigned an opponent. It is shortly after 8pm FT time. Does this mean I will not get credit for the challenge?

If you're never assigned an opponent, you'll be credited with the win.

Here's an idea about the GM swap. Several weeks have gone by where I didn't need to use the swap, or chose not to in case I needed it on the last day. But there it was at the end of the week, sadly unused. Could the unused swap credit be used on the last day for an extra random challenge? That's not double-dipping is it? Has this been mentioned before?

I don't think that's been mentioned before, and I think it's a good idea. Either that, or allow swaps to be banked.

I had to score 282 on an Impossible quiz for the easy challenge today. I scored 971 and it still says incomplete. Thank you.

Ilona, I don't see that score. The challenge asks for a game in the Global Challenge, Impossible! set which doesn't show you in the top players (where a 971 would place you). Have you instead played a round of the Obscure game? That one would not count.

The correct game link is http://www.funtrivia.com/minigame/index.cfm?cat=14137

I am definitely in favor of letting swaps be banked!

My difficult challenge is to successfully play 6 Quizzes of the Hour.
I have played two, "New York Buildings" and "Roman History, Part III", and scored 8/10 on both but only received credit for one. The answer page (after Submit) for both quizzes said that I had completed a Quiz of the Hour.

The challenge doesn't say which one was counted. When I looked again at the scores it shows the second one was recorded at 5:08 am (FT time) so it's possible that one wasn't counted because it was completed after the changeover. But since the quiz was started while it was a QOTR and the page with the answers reflected that, I believe it should also be counted.

That happened to me once in testing. You have to complete it during the hour that it is QOTH or technically it is not the QOTH anymore, another quiz is, and you won't receive challenge credit. I suggest that if it takes you as long at it seems to (at least 8 minutes as you say) to complete the QOTH quizzes, that you play them earlier on in the hour to give yourself ample time to get them submitted.

It happened again today. Fo my hard challenge, I did the crossword (correctly) and nothing happened. I have
told you of this problem before and I wish someone who knows would answer.

Is it my computer? Cookies? What?

If this cannot be solved, please don't give me any more crosswords for a
challenge, especially the hard challenge.

I appreciate any help on this problem.

Have you tried clicking on a black square or three? That works for me sometimes.

Are you certain you were totally correct? Did you go into easy mode to check if all the answers were correct? I've looked at crosswords that won't convert until I was cross-eyed and not seen a mistake. Then I've clicked onto Easy mode and there was my error in glowing red, staring me in the face. Doh! smile If it's been correct, then I have no ideas for you, sorry. confused

If she checks with Easy Mode, she will no longer get credit for doing it in Hard.

To clarify, the Quiz of the Hour changes at six minutes past the hour, so the player took no more than two minutes to play if it shows completion at eight minutes past.

I noticed this timing myself, just now, when the same thing happened to me, going for the same Daily Challenge smile

Thank you, tizzabelle, I didn't know you could check the answers that way. And I was so sure..., but I'll try it
next time.
I like your name, is it related to the Tizza... line of

Whenever I get a crossword challenge, it has been stated to do it in Hard Mode. From the rules under the crossword window If you click "easy mode" for even a little while, the quiz is marked as being taken in easy mode.
That would include 'checking the answers'. Unless your challenge is different than mine, you can't check or you lose the challenge because you used 'easy'. That's the way I understand it anyway.

Difficult Crossword Challenges require that you use Hard Mode, but there exist Crossword challenges that allow either mode, Easy Challenges for sure, and I'm 90% positive the same goes for the Medium Challenge version as well.
