Terry, this indeed seems to be a scoring bug. [c:1180,u:547573] shows incomplete in spite of yesterday's set 30 clearly showing her in first with 1750. I didn't find a second record of her playing in any division (which was my first suspicion - the game for some reason letting her play twice)

Grace - did you possibly play the 1472 the day before yesterday (which would imply that the game accidentally found a record from the wrong day)? Did you play very late (after 11:50 PM) or early (before 12:10 AM) on either day?

Yes, I did play the game and got that score the day before. I remember now. And I played it late; I don't know exactly what time but I was rushing to finish all my daily games before midnight.

Guess that's the reason then - your score accidentally got assigned to a post-midnight time so the database found it. Terry should take a look to see if this has any likelihood of repeating or whether this is a "can happen once in several years" problem.

I've completed one of my three challenges today, scored too few correct on my intermediate quiz, and have a Buzzy Bee quiz as my difficult challenge. Since the present Buzzy Bee quiz is in Foreign films, and despite playing several, I am well aware I don't have enough knowledge to win this, I wanted to buy a challenge. Not allowed since I don't have two complete. Could it not be changed to two challenges unplayed rather than incomplete? That way, if you play your challenges but lose, and have enough points to buy a challenge, you can do that and not waste a whole day.

Actually, buying extra challenges has two requirements, both of which are implied challenges on their own:

- You need the credits to buy them which means you need to have passed challenges in the past.
- You also need to have no more than one incomplete or failed, so you need to complete (usually) two challenges before you can buy more.

Both of these work together to make it more difficult and costly to buy multiple challenges on one day. This is intentional - we want people to be able to buy more when on a winning streak than when on a losing one. Think of it as an extra incentive to do well in your initial set - if you want to buy on a day, you first need to qualify, so that easy or medium suddenly becomes more interesting!

(Also, you may still have a chance to win the Bee. It's rare these days that one lasts more than 4-6 hours. With the challenges, the incentive is always there to grab it and someone will inevitably do so, making sure that a new category comes up.)

Thanks, Wes

I understand the logic of making it more increasing the difficulty (and cost) of buying more challenges as you proceed through a day, but it is frustrating not to be to even buy one. I try to not buy more than one a day, unless I'm trying to get an Epic.

Buying always only one per day is the best efficiency in terms of credits, but if that's your goal, you can also afford to occasionally miss one. You'll average just over 8 credits a day even if you always complete all challenges, so an occasional day of not being able to buy won't hurt your overall rate - it just prevents you from going broke smile

Got the Epic Quizzer last night. Managed to complete two of the categories, animals and world. I look now it says I am short on points in those two.

Can it be you accidentally followed a link for two of the quizzes you played instead of staying in the category? You are showing scores in the 700s in two other categories and a 95 in Sci/Tech which might show that you did play something, thinking it was in Animals or World, but which actually belonged to an different place.

No. I had two green check marks when I logged off. I kept thinking to myself that I had 2/12 done. This morning I had no green check marks.

Another possibility for points (and checkmarks) going away is if some of the points were from the Quizbot mixes. I've seen that happen to me in the past. Those scores only count if the ENTIRE challenge is completed while the quiz is still there.

Hi

In the Daily Challenge today - Level three - I'm playing against another person for the highest score out of 4 "Who's the Expert" game. (I bought an extra challenge for this)

It hasn't registered my score for the previous one I played. It was "Quotes" I think.

Thanks.

If you played "Quotes" before you were given the challenge, or before your competitor was named, then that game won't be counted for the challenge. Only games played after the competitor has been named will count.

Could this be what happened?

Update: It's now awarding them, so either way it doesn't matter. I have hours yet to play another three.

Lol, I'm an entire computer help service all by myself. Report the problem, wait till it sorts itself out, then notify myself that it's fixed.

My Easy challenge today said: Play a mixed quiz (as listed on the homepage under Newest Mixed Quizzes) and score xxx points. Click the PLAY link (not HTML) for credit.

Not 'at least' or 'more than xxx' or 'exactly xxx' like the wording in most of the other similar challenges. I wasn't sure, so I scored higher to see whether I would have to try it again, and play it like the 990 challenge. Adding 'more than' might be a clearer message.

From the FAQ:

Quote:
Challenges that specify numbers to be achieved (such as playing X quizzes or scoring Y points) can be solved by any number at least equal to the target unless the challenge text specifically and clearly asks for an exact match.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt to put "more than", but it's already specified if you look in the right place.

My Difficult challenges today (I bought one) were:

Score a Word Wizard Gold Member Game word of exactly 7 letters.

Score at least 7/10 in all four International Hourly games in the same hour.

In keeping with these and many others, a qualifier is included. It saves going to the FAQ each time for clarification. imho

I agree with SS - the challenges should be worded unambiguously, and I believe Terry intended to change any where there was an element of doubt.

Is there any "difficulty filter" on the "Editor's Choice" quizzes that are selected for the Daily Challenge? Today, my "Easy" challenge was to get 5 or more right on one of two EC quizzes. One of them was rated "Very Difficult" and I got one right; the other was rated "Difficult" and I got four right. So I failed the challenge.

My point is that, because the quizzes were both so difficult, it wasn't an easy challenge at all. Doing 20 easier quizzes is easier than one very difficult one!

One of my Teammates sent me this query.
To save her typing it out again here is her problem.

I hope someone can help her.

clueless-

I'm not sure if you are the right person to be contacting but I have tried to report this issue & haven't had any success.
My problem is: every time I have to complete a crossword in the Difficult daily challenge...I complete the crossword to my satisfaction (not using the easy mode) & proceed to press several places inside the crossword.
It fails to acknowledge that I have completed it correctly. I click many many times in different places.
Not having any choice but to give up, I have looked at the easy mode which indicates that I have had no errors prior.
This has happened every time I have been given the crossword task in the Difficult mode, hence I don't get any points...frustrating.
I have completed crosswords before in the medium mode (no problems).
I have Vista not sure if that's part of this glitch.
I hope that this all makes some sense to you.

I had a small question about the Daily Challenges and started reading the FAQ. I got the answer to my question and kept reading because it was so enjoyable. That FAQ is just beautifully written - clear, engaging, with a sense of humor that doesn't take away from the serious answers. So to the writer, kudos and thank you!

I received this when I bought a challenge:
"Today you will be playing I'm the Expert! against another player. Whoever holds the highest score today in a single Who's the Expert hourly game at midnight will win this challenge. Only your first 4 plays of this game today will be considered for this challenge, so pick your attempts wisely! Your opponent for the day is unassigned right now. Please try back later when more players are given this challenge so we can pair you up.
No opponent assigned yet. Note: This challenge is not yet active. Playing Expert Games before your opponent is assigned will not count." Incomplete

How long does it take to have an opponent assigned?

The longest I've had to wait for an opponent for either the twin, nemesis, or expert challenge is a couple of minutes.

One time I had to wait a couple of hours, I think. But usually it's only a matter of minutes, as you say.

Actually, now that I think about it, it was more than a couple of hours, it was nearly the whole day. But then in the evening an opponent was assigned. I was surprised that it happened so late in the day.

Here is my Medium Difficulty DailynChallenge:

Play 5 quizzes containing 3 letter P's in each of their titles. Score at least 5 correct in each. Each quiz must be in a different sub-category, and must not have been played by you within the last 30 days!

Here are the quizzes I played:

Malapropisms - The Pineapple of Word Quizzes 10/10.
Pineapple Express 13/15.
Incomplete

Why is it still incomplete? Can there be no more than three "P"s in the title?

You've only played two quizzes... You must play 5. Also, they must be in different sub-categories. smile
