But I think rossian's point is apt. Given that most players aren't playing on the site 20+ hours a day, or even 8 hours a day, it's not the person who starts earlier, but the person who finishes later who has the advantage.

I think the current implementation of breaking the tie randomly is fine. If I knew we were tied and my opponent had stopped scoring for the day (because maybe they are in a time zone when they are likely asleep), I would always answer a quick question to break the tie anyway. Why take a 50% shot when you can make it 100% with a few seconds of effort?

There are four choices for an outcome in the event of a tie:
1- Neither Player A nor Player B wins
2- Both Player A and Player B are awarded a win
3- Player A wins for some reason that made him(er) designated as A
4- Player B wins for some reason that made him(er) designated as B

I think equal perormance should rule out options 3 and 4, leaving the choice to award to either both of them or neither of them. Whichever way is decided should be the most fair to both players and including both on the same side of the outcome would seem to be that fair decision.

Edit:
Since this (the Daily Challenge) isn't an interplayer competition, is there really a need to have a tie broken?

Of course ties can sometimes need resolving. The Nemesis challenge compares the total scores of two players, the Expert challenge compares the best result in a row of four expert games between two players. So these two challenges, even being personal goals, need rules to see who is to prevail.

Hi.

I propose in the expert matchup end if a player complete the four attemps without beat the best-score's Nemesis.

I play with Daikenro, use my four attemps and I don't beat the best score of Dainkenro. It's nice close the challenge with any try the 10 in a day.

I just finished the 10 in a day challenge and "bought" another challenge with 33 points in search of an Epic challenge. The points were taken off but no challenge appeared!

I see 11 completed and 1 incomplete in your list as should be expected with this number, so I guess you bought a challenge whose requirements you had already met prior to buying which was instantly marked as complete - nothing left to do on that one!

Both players completing the challenge upon a non-zero tie makes the most sense to me. It's a little more complicated in hourly games because of the way is processed, but challenges are relatively easy to fix tie-wise.

I'll eventually change it.

p.s. the reason that crystal ball only gives one winner was to prevent the problem of a word like "xylophone" giving a badge to 500 people in a single hour. I THINK it awards the win to the player guessing first, although I may be wrong.

It's almost midnight, and so time is of the essence. Hope someone sees this in time.
My challenge to is take quizzes in 16 different categories and score at least 9.
I got 10/10 on a Geography quiz, but it is not showing up in the Daily Challenges. frown Why?? From what I can see, I complied with the Challenge!

Did you have to play it in Quiz game mode or HTML Quiz mode, or was that not specified? I got caught out on that; played five in the wrong mode! smile

You play the quiz in the last 30 days(including quiz of hour??), maybe this it's the reason.

Yeah, I am sure Crystal Ball is awarded randomly if the word is chosen more than once. I've won when not being first, and lost with my guess being first. It was decided to be random so players who could not play at :00 could still win if they guess at :44. smile

I took the Geography quiz well before 11:50.

Also, it did not specify Quiz Mode, and it even said that I didn't have to limit myself to 10-question quizzes, IIRC.

I stopped taking quizzes after I found the fault because there wasn't time for me to complete the challenge.

However, I would like to know what went wrong so it doesn't happen to someone else (or to me again).

I had earlier taken another Geography quiz and scored a 4/10, which did show up as "not meeting requirements", but that shouldn't have prevented me from taking another Geography quiz.

Since you told me you took the Bus Ride as your Geography quiz, it may have been that you accidentally hit on the handful of quizzes in the Bus rotation that aren't actually Geography. The Bus Ride only requires the quiz to be about the country, but not necessarily in the geographic way. Without knowing what the country was, however, I can't crosscheck that.

But the thing is, the Bus Ride quiz didn't show up AT ALL in the Daily Challenge, in any category. I remember because I immediately checked the list after the I took the quiz, and I noted that the list had not changed. All the other quizzes I took, they were listed as I played them. I can't recall the name of the quiz, or even the country (isn't that funny?) but it was a Photo Quiz.

UPDATE: Got the quizzes --

1/17/12: Marshall Islands
"The Marshall Islands"
http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Geography/The-Marshall-Islands-315173.html)

11/18/12: Azerbaijan "
Man, It's a Manat!"
http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/World/Man-Its-a-Manat-340111.html

So, you were right, Wes, the quiz was a World quiz! Ha! Is it possible to find out if it showed up in the running list? If it did, then sorry to have wasted time...

Hopefully not giving anything away here. Could someone with the yellow Epic mini tell me what the small numbers are? I don't want to give any more information for those who don't know, so if you know, or need me to elaborate, please PM! I don't think it's too important, but I'm very curious!

From other threads, I remember Crystal Ball winners are chosen randomly to avoid closing the game after just a few minutes, when the first correct guess has been made.

Hi folks,
I have purchased some challenges today in an effort to earn 10 in a day, (second attempt) but two of them do not seem to have given me credit for earlier plays.

They are;

Play the Easy Game and score 10/10 within 35.0 seconds.

Yet earlier today I recorded the following score:
Hourly: Easy Game Animals Nov/19/12 3:23 PM 10 / 10 970 97 80 13 / 65

This was within the requirements and the FAQ states the system will take earlier plays into account.

I also was allocated the expert challenge best of 4 tries and had already played twice previously today with the following results but they to seem to have been ignored:

Hourly: Who's the Expert? Dog Breeds Nov/19/12 5:05 PM 14 / 15 1305 131 45 18 / 33
Hourly: Who's the Expert? Australia Nov/19/12 4:03 PM 13 / 15 1202 120 20 32 / 40

Did I misunderstand something?

For the expert one, Terry has explicitly stated that previous plays would not count to make the challenge not appear as an instant loss (in case you have already played 4 games in weak categories just for fun and/or practice).

As to the Easy Game one, Terry will have to answer this. [c:2369,u:195163]
