If you have static electricity in your clothes and you have access to a wired coat hanged, rub it up and down your clothes and good bye static.

If your zipper is hard to zip up, rub a little bit of the lead of a pencil on it and bingo the zipper will fly (no pun intended)

More "static" advice.

If your skirt starts clinging to your hose, use a little bit of hand lotion on your legs. Has saved me from embarrassment many a time at work!

JoJo.....Great tip. I hate the smell of that spray they put out for static cling. I'll definitely use this tip (on the cat, too....poor thing keeps getting shocks when I pet her).

Another tip for the zipper----rub bar soap on it and it'll slide easily.

Also, bar soap (or a piece of canning wax) when applied up and down the side runners of windows makes them open and close easily. (especially useful in older homes)

Great tips!!!

Soak your candles in warm salt water and won't drip.

(BagLady, you might want to read the Windows 98 thread, I put it there with you in mind regarding backups & there is more to come.)

To avoid tearing up when cutting onions, light a candle in front of you and the fumes will disappear.

A dryer sheet works for static too. If you're already dressed and your skirt is clingy, just rub a sheet over your slip or pantyhose.

That silly putty post reminded me of the dough art we used to do and it was so simple.

1 cup flour
1 cup salt
1 cup water

Mix togeter, shape,dry and paint.

Help, I can't remember if we put it in oven or not.

Wint-o-green Lifesavers: If you crunch down hard on a Wint-o-green Lifesaver in the dark, your friends will see blue sparks jumping around in your mouth. (Note: they *MUST* be Wint-o-green Lifesavers).

Want to serve your kids a fish aquarium, supplied with little fish in it? No, I am not crazy, just fill a glass bowl with blueberry jello and add a couple of candy fish in it and presto you have a fish aquarium. You kids will love it. It would also be fun to serve at a party.

I'm glad that you liked it Sandalwood. You can also take cranberry applesauce and cook it on a plate in the microwave at 3 minute intervals. Keep checking it until it is flat and has a gooey consistancy. Just roll them up and presto you have made your own fruit rollups. And you did it for only pennies.

If your cats, or dogs, are prone to static, take a fabric softener sheet and rub them with it. My cats love the attention that they get when I'm rubbing them down.

I'm packing my bags right now Sandalwood. Can I bring the bunny and the mice with me? LOL We could start our own petting zoo!

Here's another fun science trick: If you bake a cake and you can't get the cake out of the pan, turn the pan upside down and place your hand underneath it. Place you iron (with the steam turned on) and iron the top of the pan. Yep, you heard me right, iron the top of the pan and the heat will start to loosen the cake. Keep doing this for a couple of minutes and you should feel the cake start to drop into you hand. Who knew?

Have algae growing in your bird bath? Drop a few copper coins into the bath -- it will help minimize if not eliminate algae growth.

Ethel for an outie you could tape the penny on with a bandaid.

INVISIBLE WRITING

Ingredients
- 1 Tablet of laxative
- 1 tb Rubbing alcohol
- Cotton balls
- Household ammonia

Instructions
Mash the laxative tablet into the tablespoon of alcohol. Be sure the tablet is entirely dissolved. Write a message on the paper with paintbrush dipped into the solution. As the solution dries, the writing will disappear. To develop the message: dampen the cotton ball with liquid ammonia & dab it on the page. The writing will reappear.
