Jazz pianist and composer Dave Brubeck has died this morning, the day before his 92nd bithday. He was known for his groundbreaking rhythmic approach to jazz, exemplified by his smash hit album "Time Out". (The album's biggest hit "Take Five" was composed by the band's saxophonist Paul Desmond)

I was saddened to hear this. He was an alumni of the same school as my father and we were great fans.

I loved Paul Desmond as well. I grew up trying to play Brubeck's piano music to no avail.
