Welcome wwe84, chogobad, szabs and Plugger, who is making a tipping competition debut, to the competition.
The number of the week was 24, as 3 of the winning teams tallied that number for their victories, only Houston, who held off Cincinnati by a score of 19-13, won with a differnt number. Without Ponder at quarterback the Vikings became more one dimensional and the Packers smothered them 24-10. Ray Lewis enjoyed every minute of his last game at Ravens stadium as his team stimied rookie sensation Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts 24-9, and the Seahawks showed their grit and Beast Mode once again as they beat a hobbled RGIII and the Redskins in a chippy game that was much closer than the final of 24-14 would suggest.
16 of us tipped at least 3 of the 4 games this weekend, but the kudos go to gtho, Howie, paper_aero and srini who tipped all 4 games and start the compeition off tied for the lead.

It was all about home cooking once again. Some like myself find this home dominance a little boring, but in the end what matters is the best team wins. The mythology of Ray Lewis grows as the mythology of Peyton Manning takes a hit with the shocking upset of the #1 seeded Denver Broncos by the tenacious Baltimore Ravens. The San Francisco quarterback controversy was quelled as their new shining star led the team, mostly with his legs, to a victory over the always respected Green Bay Packers. The freezing of the kicker with a last second time out was a poorly chosen tactic by Seattle head coach Pete Carroll as the Falcons kicker at first missed a late field goal, but was able to rekick it due to a time out just before the ball was snapped, and he made the second kick turning a loss into a win for Atlanta. The Texans put up a better fight then in the regular season in their second trip to Foxboro, but the Patriots played a better game, even after Houston scored 10 late first half points.
Dg_dave, Plugger & Sypher are the only tippers with both Conference Champions remaining. Plugger was also the only one to pick all 4 games and the only one to pick the Baltimore upset of Denver. Bx, Howie and ozzz were the only ones disappointed by the New England victory over the Texans.
Paper_aero pulls into the lead by himself with 27 points, just ahead of srini. The big movers were the perfect Plugger, moving from 20th to 5th, regular season champion dg_dave going from 15th to 5th and defending champion Sypher moving from 7th to 4th.

As the Browns the franchise currently known as the Baltimore Ravens lost the 1965 championship, the year before the first Super Bowl. They also lost the 1951, 1953, 1954 & 1957 ones. The Browns name stayed in Cleveland per the NFL...so they were "on hiatus" for three seasons. The Ravens were an expansion team. See here and here.

If we learned anything this past weekend it was this, you have to score in the second half if you want to win a game, which both losing teams couldn't do after leading at halftime, and the lucky number of points to score was 28, which both winning teams scored. Both road teams won, the 49ers pounding Frank Gore down the throat of the tenacious Falcons defense was eventually too much and earned them a 28-24 win. The ferocious Ravens defense kept Tom Brady off balance and Joe Flacco might get some of that credit he has been looking for after slicing up the Patriots defense.
Themonarch was the only tipper to get both games right, Bx was the only other tipper to join him in getting the Ravens pick correct and 5 tippers were shut out of points.
None of us got the advance pick of the Ravens correct and only 7 of us got the point for San Francisco.
Srini, Plugger and LeoDaVinci can get maximum bonus points if San Francisco wins the Super Bowl.
