I'm curious if it would be permissible and/or welcomed of the mods and FT members to set-up a Google Hangout (a general one, at least) for FunTrivia. Groups could opt to have their own Google Hangouts concealed within their team message boards if they choose.

It's a free service offered by Google allowing you groups of voice/video chat. I recently participated in one that included members from all over the US (and a token Australian). It was very entertaining.

Some of us have played for years and it would be really interesting to put faces/voices to usernames.

Obviously, participation would be optional.

Thoughts?

Is this Google Hangout a sort of private chat group? There is of course no point in setting up a group that would be open for non-members.

One of the benefits of this site is anonymity and privacy. Google Hangouts would defeat that.

Some of our more prolific members around the world hold meet-ups-- we've had some in AUS and Canada. Others speak on Facebook.

Sure, if people want to create a group for fans of the site, go for it. We wouldn't endorse it or support it officially, of course, but if there are some people who'd like to meet up and interact on google, for for it.

Correct, it's based on your Gmail.com username. So if that happens to be something fictional (as it should be), you can stay anonymous.

It would be entirely voluntary. Participate if you want, or don't.

I agree with Kyle. I have met many FunTrivia people both in Canada and in Australia and have made some very good friends in the process.

Well, here goes. This is a Google community that I created from FunTrivia. From here, those that are interested with a Gmail/Google+ account can join the FunTrivia community. From here, we can schedule and launch a Google hangout video chat.
