Thanks Mike. I think hawks have those sort of eyes. All of them seem to have that disconcerting stare when they look at you. Probably trying to work out if we're food or not.

This is Penelope Witchepoo. She was given to me by my grandmother when I was a little girl. I was so offended because my sister got a Raggedy Ann and I just knew Grandmother hated me to give me such an ugly doll. Now she's a treasured part of my childhood and has a place of honor among my doll collection.

She's got loads of character! (Raggedy-Ann..pfft..that's for sissys.)



The first snowdrop appeared...

Beautiful Chavs, I love snowdrops. They make you believe Spring will come. I noticed this morning mine are breaking ground so hopefully will be photographable in a couple of days (weather permitting)

A view of Llanciach Fawr Manor in South Wales, unfortunately we were not allowed to take photos inside. The guides were dressed up as they would have been centuries ago and spoke as they would have back then.

It was a few minutes of hail and then just standard rain, the clouds seem to go blackest for hail, presumably as the ice absorbs more light than vapour.

The other night hubby and I went to Alice Cooperstown, a sports bar/restaurant owned by rocker Alice Cooper in downtown Phoenix. The place features rock-n-roll and baseball memorabilia as well as having pretty good food. The name Cooperstown is a play on the word Cooperstown, New York where the National Baseball Hall of Fame is located. This display was across from our table and I thought of Ren, of course.

The flower opened up on Tuesday but closed again pretty sharpish - too much rain and wind. They'd be handy little weathermen if it wasn't for the fact that to see them you have to stand in the weather so you already know it.

I know we are only supposed to post photos we have taken ourselves, but Maynooth took this one and asked me to post it especially for Ren.

I think we do have the same sort of snowdrop Chavs - just the good old common or garden variety. I think they are the prettiest though. Just a nice simple old fashioned flower.

Still on the subject about childhood toys, this antique sugar bin (stands 12 inches tall) was my dad and his brother's toy box when they were children. I use it now to hold my needlework.
