x Timmy Hill will make his first appearance in the #32 for ozzz this week. Mark Martin is back in the #55 this week for George.

Greg Biffle and Brad Keselowski's teams found data stream issues after practice and because they had to correct it had to start from the back of the field. Joe Gibbs Racing was showing off early with their 3 drivers running 1-2-3, with Matt Kenseth in the lead, followed by Denny Hamlin and then Kyle Busch. Early on Denny Hamlin & Joey Logano played nice with each other running in the top 5. Timmy Hill started spilling oil on the track on lap 32, of 200, and leader Kyle Busch and Clint Bowyer couldn't avoid driving through it, which left them dealing with that. Lap 68 started the green flag stops, with Dale Earnhardt Jr. being the first on pit row and Tony Stewart last on lap 75. Drivers splitters were chipping and cracking as they bounced off the surface. Lap 103 had Matt Kenseth with a flat and Lap 106 was Joe Nemecheck with a flat tire. Dale Jr. had a bad pit stop on the Nemecheck caution and went from 3rd to 18th. With 15 laps to go Clint Bowyer had engine trouble. Now lets move to the final restart which had Joey Logano leading the 2nd line and blocking Tony Stewart up and down the track. Stewart then went from 4th to 20th in 2 laps. Kevin Harvick also slipped from the top 5 to closer to 20th. On the last lap it was Joey Logano in the lead with Denny Hamlin coming strong, turn 1 Logano holding on they are scraping paint, turn 2 Hamlin pressuring to be even more paint scraping, turn 3 has Hamlin a nose ahead while in the turn, at which point Joey Logano goes up the track after Hamlin left him room and wrecks Hamlin and sends himself into the top wall, while Denny Hamlin had a bad head on crash with an infield barrier. While they were wrecking Kyle Busch slid right past for the win. Denny Hamlin had to be taken in an ambulance off the track then airlifted to a hospital as he was having trouble breathing which turned out to be a compact fracture in his back. Tony Stewart followed Logano onto pit road, cut him off after he was stopped and got in his face and threw a punch, which led to Logano's team holding Tony back, letting young Joey throw a water bottle at Tony. Tony has had choice words for Joey Logano, for his attitude while driving and on social media. After the race the comments were expletive ridden and intense even after he calmed down later. It didnt help Logano that while Hamlin was being taken away in the ambulance he commented on air in reference to the wreck with Hamlin following last weeks issues so thats what he gets. Hamlin is OK but his status for the next race is unknown and no disciplinary action is being taken by NASCAR against any drivers for this weeks occurrences.

The HoF went to Sypher with a 117 Busch and Dale Jr. finished 1-2 for him, Ozz is still being weighed down by whoever is in the #32 and Danica Patrick who is improving this year, but still not racing for the wins yet, usually sitting a lap or behind, learning and keeping her car out of the garage.

All the top 6 changed positions this week, positions 1 and 2 flip flopped, as did 3 and 4, while 5 and 6 also switched spots with each other.

Next race is next in two Sunday's in Martinsville.

x Ken Schrader was in the 32, Mark Martin was in Denny Hamlin's 11 and Brian Vickers was in Mark Martins 55.

Martinsville is a bruising short track which leaves cars with a lot of cosmetic damage. Ryan Newman drew a 3 lap penalty for stopping on the track for a flat tire rather than going to pit row, forcing a caution to come out. Martin Truex Jr. can't find the technique that led him into the Chase last year and continues to struggle this year, coming in 40th. Tony Stewart faded late for the 2nd race in a row. Kurt Busch who has been fighting mightily to get into race winning form, possibly make the Chase and rebuild his tarnished image took a hit as flames poured out of his hood with 43 laps to go. Everyone was impressed with Danica's 1st go at Martinsville as she grinded her way to a 12th place finish with a late surge. Jimmie Johnson got the win leading 356 of the 500 laps, Clint Bowyer got a much needed 2nd place finish and Jeff Gordon a needed 3rd place finish.

Brian Vickers drew the ire of Kevin Harvick at the end of the race, and Vickers may know now not to pick on girls. Martinsville is a notoriously rough track with a lot of bumping and metal bending, but Vickers ended up bumping Danica Patrick from behind twice a little rougher than he should have been. The first time around ended with Dale Earnhardt spinning out and the 2nd time is what drew Harricks ire, and he spun Vickers out just past the finish line and blocked him onto the road to the garage on the way back, making it clear he was displeased with Vickers in some way. It hasn't been directly said that defending Danica caused Harvick to mix it up with Vickers, but that is the impression many are taking from the incidents.

The HoF went to George95 for the 3rd time in 6 races this year while ozzz2002 took his 5th spoon in that time span.

5 of us had the KJ combo, Kyle Busch & Jimmie Johnson and 3 of them, in this case the seasons top 3 so far, added Brad Keselowski to the KJ combo.

Next race is Saturday in Texas.

x Mark Martin was back in the #55 and Brian Vickers was in Hamlin's #11, while Timmy Hill was back in the #32. The Busch Brothers started 1-2 this week, with Kyle taking the pole. The Penske Fords of Brad Keselowski & Joey Logano had their rear end housings of their cars confiscated by NASCAR on race day and they barely had time to complete inspection before the race started. There are still possible penalties to come for the car set ups.

Kyle Busch & Martin Truex Jr. dominated this race and whoever restarted in the lead usually took the bottom position and ran away from the field clean, rarely being run down. Certain teams and their engines had trouble with the change from daylight to night. Jeff Gordon was jockeying in the top 3 most of the night but late in the race mechanical troubles ended his night badly. The race completely changed on a late caution which occurred during green flag pit stops and race leaders Kyle Busch & Martin Truex Jr. were in the pits when the caution came out. Carl Edwards, Joey Logano and Greg Biffle had been in the back of the lead lap group all race and jumped up the top 5. Brad Keselowski was a lap behind but got the lucky dog on a late caution and turned a 20th or worse finish into a top 10. On the last restart Kyle Buschs team was outstanding and got him to the line first and once they restarted no one could catch Busch and he cruised to a win.

The HoF is shared by srini & LDV this week with 127 and ozzz took some more lumber with an 88.

Next race is Sunday at Kansas.

x Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano barely made it on the track as their cars were going through some added inspections regarding parts in their rear ends housings. They were docked 25 driver points, their crew chiefs and other members suspended for 6 races and crew chiefs fined 100,000 dollars. They have appealed and those appeals will be heard May 1st. Earlier this year Jimmie Johnsons team won an appeal after penalties and suspensions were levied on them.

Kyle Busch was in control for the early portion of the race with Martin Truex Jr. holding 2nd during that time frame. Bobby Labonte was without a backup driver, as his alternate was driving a different car, so he was forced to drive with a virus until a possible backup was out of the race, which did eventually happen. Ricky Stenhouse has spin out issues and Carl Edwards had early motor issues, while a spark from Matt Kenseths car caused a small fire in his pit box as he left. The day was caution filled on the windy track. Kyle Busch was snake bit by Kansas again and not even he knows why, saying himself that he spun twice on his own in corners, the second time resulting in a crash that took him and Joey Logano out of the race. Kyles JGR team mate Matt Kenseth won the race, Jimmie Johnson was top 5 again, and Kasey Kahne, Clint Bowyer and Martin Truex Jr. were the other top 5 finishers.

George took his 4th HoF, giving him HoFs in half the races so far and moves him up to 4th place. Ozz pulled a wily veteran move to earn his 7th consecutive spoon this week, removing winner Matt Kenseth from his team and adding Joey Logano, who wrecked early and Marcos Ambrose to his team, ensuring he got the wood, even though he would have won it with his last weeks team, but only by 1 point.

Next race is Saturday at Richmond.

x Timmy Hill was in the 32.

His appeal is set to be heard May 7th.

x Terry Labonte was in the 32. Brad Keselowski & Joey Logano lost their initial appeals of their rear end body penalties. Denny Hamlin will start in the #11 this week, but is supposed to only drive for a few laps then let another driver take over.

Talladega was its usual rough and tumble self with only 20 of the 43 cars completing the full 499 mile, 192 lap race. The first 2 big names out of the race were Kasey Kahne and Kevin Harvick who didn't complete 50 laps. Kyle Busch, Joey Logano and the Hamlin started Vickers finished car also had their days ruined early. The big wrecks on late restarts that are prevalent at the super speedways caught Ryan Newman, Danica Patrick, Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart. The big winner of the day was David Ragan, who has won both his NASCAR Sprint Cup races at super speedways, his first being the summer race at Daytona, who along with team mate David Gilliland got together after restarting out of the top 5 to race past everyone else for Ragan to get the win and Gilliland to get 2nd.

George95 makes the big move from 4th to 2nd with another HoF and Srini opens up a 34 point season lead in hopes of defending his crown.

Next race is next Saturday at Darlington.

Don't worry srini now that I'm in second. I've done this comp twice, and both times finished second. Can't break my streak now.

x Timmy Hill was in the 32. Matt Kenseth and Joe Gibbs Racing won the majority of their appeals, with the points penalty going from 50 to 12, the 3 Chase Points for winning were restored if he makes the Chase, Joe Gibbs will get the owner points and Kenseth's crew chiefs suspension went from 6 weeks to 1 week.

Quick write up this week as my head was focused on the ice most of the weekend and I forgot the race was on Saturday night. Joe Gibbs Racing finished 1-2 with Matt Kenseth winning his 3rd race of the year, and Denny Hamlin coming in 2nd in his first full race back from injury, with team mate Kyle Bush finishing 6th. Hendrick Motorsports finished 3, 4, 9 and 17 as the 2 powerhouse teams are dominating this season so far. Only Denny Hamlin, who fell behind during his injury, is not currently in position for a spot in Chase right now out of the 7 JGR & HM teams. Aric Almirola who is racing for Richard Petty Motorsports is holding onto 9th place and has been consistent all year, as has Paul Menard who currently holds a Chase position in 11th for Richard Childress Racing. Surprise teams and drivers lurking in the top 20 are Roush Fenway driver Ricky Stenhouse in 16th and Kurt Busch on the comeback road in the 78 for Furniture Row Racing in 18th.

We had a trio of HoFs this week as illiniman, LeoDaVinci and srini shared the HoF courtesy of Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch & Carl Edwards, while ozzz improved by 10 points but took the spoon again.

Next race is in two weeks on Sunday at Charlotte.

x Timmy Hill was in the 32. Kahne flu like symptoms the night before, had IVs morning of race.

With the strong ties NASCAR has with the military during the prerace broadcast there was the man parachuting in with red, white and blue smoke, the eagle flying in, the listing of the members of the military who died in service within the last year, letters from military members to their favorite drivers read by the drivers themselves who also responded, followed by "Amazing Grace" played on bagpipes, a 21 gun salute and finally the playing of "Taps". Many of the cars have military sponsors, so they and others had military schemed paint jobs with many members of the military on hand for the race on Memorial Day weekend.

The top 3 for the majority of the early part of the race was Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch and Kasey Kahne, with Kurt Busch and Denny Hamlin usually finishing up the top 5. Lap 122 is when things went haywire as a cable from the over the track camera for the television station, FOX, had maneuvering wires come loose and fall on the track. Kyle Busch had his right wheel well trashed by the wire, which was then ridden over by Mark Martin and finally Marcos Ambrose got the wire caught under his car. There was a long stop and then a 15 minute time allowed to work on the cars, which is very rare for NASCAR to allow. Buschs team hammered out the wheel well cover and covered the rest best they could, Martin didnt have any major damage, while Ambroses team dealt with damage to the brake line, parts of the undercarriage and had to get the wire unwrapped from the axle of the car. By lap 244 it was night and the cars reaction to the track changed. Lap 258 had Dale Earnhardt blowing a motor, smoke from his engine blinding Greg Biffle who hit the wall, when he was already having a bad day, and oil from the car most likely led to Dave Blaney hitting Travis Kvapil broadside and both of them were also out of the race. Kyle Buschs night was also over at this point as his engine had also given out on him. With 98, of 400, laps to go Kenseth pitted early, as did Brad Keselowski, Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, which wasnt good for them as the caution came out on lap 97 and they were left in no mans land either at the end of the lead lap or 1 lap behind. Keselowski and the best car all day Kenseth were the ones that restarted a lap down. The cautions just kept coming after that for a while soon after restarts and drivers were falling out of the race as well. Danica Patrick and Brad Keselowskis night ended first in a crash then Jamie McMurray had trouble under the hood. Jeff Gordon, Aric Alimrola, Mark Martin, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Casey Mears and Bobby LaBonte were next to catch the crash bug. Kurt Busch, who was leading, had his battery die, so he had to fix that and move to the back of the lead lap cars. Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth, Juan Pablo Montoya and Paul Menard were involved in a wreck next. The crucial time came with 15 laps to go, as a caution came out with the drivers having 20 laps on their tires, but having enough fuel to make it to the end. Kasey Kahne had the lead and he chose to stay out, while all other leaders pitted for tires, who knows who might have stayed out if he had pitted. Kevin Harvick flew past Kahne on the restart and never looked back for the win, while Kahne held off Kyle Busch for 2nd.

Bx took the HoF with 108 and illiniman was the only other tipper in double digits, while Sypher had a disastrous day taking the spoon with a 33.

Next race is in Sunday at Dover.

Denny Hamlin took the early lead. Joe Gibbs Racing dominated early with their 3 cars running 1, 2, 3. Kyle Busch was the 2nd car to take the lead. Danica Patrick tried to put her car into that next gear to make a double pass but when her car didnt respond she ended up in a mess, blocking leaders trying to pass and giving some incidental damage to David Stremme as her car went sliding, forcing her to pit road early. Jimmie Johnson had early trouble as he was stuck in middle of the pack and at risk or going a lap down before the first green flag pit stop. Green flag stops were around lap 70. Lap 81 brought out the first caution for debris and Tony Stewart was the lucky dog. Pit strategy began here as top 9 stayed out and 10th on back pitted. Jimmie Johnsons crew made the right corrections and he moved up the line. Another caution for debris and all lead lap cars come into to pit. Lap 157 has another Toyota engine blow up as race leader Matt Kenseths day was over. Joey Logano went into the pits for a flat tire on lap 158 and just made it out of the pits as the next caution came out, but he was 2 laps down due to the pit stop and he could only make one up as the leaders pitted. Juan Pablo Montoya got a slow restart and caused Jimmie Johnson to almost end up in his back seat if he hadnt slid up the track, which slowed Johnsons momentum. Martin Truex and Kasey Kahne were the 2 cars trying to track down Kyle Busch at this point in the race. The biggest effect on some cars was cloud cover, as some were not running as well on a hot track when the sun was beating down on them. Jimmie Johnson made it all the way to lead. Green flag stops were around lap 230. On lap 272 it was reported Ryan Newman wass having car issues, though him and the team didnt know what but have to be prepared for next pit stop. Timmy Hill went into the wall brings out caution #4 on lap 280 and top 3 most of the day Toyota driver Martin Truex Jr. starts smoking heavy and his engine was kaput. Ryan Newman got into Jimmie Johnson on the pit lane entry due to slowing to pit road speed but no real damage. Kyle comes out of pit stop and starts sliding back a few spots immediately. David Gilliland blocks Ryan Newman for 3 laps, with Newman bumping him 3 times without Gilliland giving way before he finally puts him out of control into the wall and then down into Newmans car wrecking both of them on lap 299. Denny Hamlin took the lead and was followed by Kurt Busch after the caution. Montoya was driving with a purpose but couldnt get past Brad Keselowski, with Jimmie Johnson and 4 other cars bottled up behind the 2. Lap 316 had Kasey Kahne loses control and spin out on his own bringing out a caution. Kurt Busch led them out of the caution with Jeff Gordon in 2nd. On Lap 327 Jamie McMurray lost speed due to a broken radiator, chances of good day over. Kurt Busch and Montoya bumped and leap frogged each other as Johnson led again. Lap 263 Kurt had to pit which put him a lap down. On lap 376 Denny Hamlin was in the wall and his right front tire twisted and bent out of place. Juan Pablo Montoya had the lead off of pit road, Jimmie Johnson 2nd. Montoya held back restarting and Jimmie Johnson jumped past him and Jimmie was black flagged for it and he has to make a pit road pass. Montoya could have repassed Johnson before the final restart point but he still held back. Tony Stewart came from outside the top 10 to be in 2nd. It was Montoya with Stewart on his bumper with 5 laps to go. With 2 laps to go Stewart took the lead and Juan Pablos hopes of his first oval track win took off in front of him as Tony Stewart is back on top this week conquering the Monster Mile.

Howie takes the HoF powered by the Tony Stewart win with 117 points. For the second week in a row the driver in 2nd place chose to match leader srinis team, this time it was Bx who made the odd choice not to try and gain on the leader. Four people, including the top 2, finished with exactly 100 points, with 1 person being 1 point better and the spoon taker gtho4 finishing only 1 point behind them.

Next race is in Sunday at Pocono.

x Paul Menard had to change his transmission after practice, but he didnt have to go to the rear of the pack since Pocono, along with the road tracks of Sonoma & Watkins Glen, allow drivers to change their transmissions before race day without the rear of the pack penalty.

Jimmie Johnson had the pole but didnt start great and Carl Edwards took the early lead. Jimmie rebounded to retake the lead on lap 9. Kasey Kahne immediately had car trouble with his drive train and had to go to the garage. Green flag stops start began at lap 25, of 180, and a lot of track bar adjustments for handling were done by the crews. Kahne made it back on the track but was well out of contention. Green flag pit stops came around again without caution and Martin Truex Jr. had more trouble than most with handling. Brad Keselowski was getting the most out of his gas, going the longest of anyone in between pit stops which is a strategy that helped him in more than a few races last year. Carl Edwards and Dale Earnhardt Jr. continued to try and track down leader Jimmie Johnson. First caution on lap 65 for debris had the leaders making their third pit stops. Ryan Newman chose not to pit and took over the race lead but only until the restart when Johnson retook the lead. Leaders pulled away most of the day but the middle of the pack had a lot of passing and drivers racing each other hard. Newman who was running 2nd had to pit at lap 92 so he lost his position until lap 98 when the rest of the pack started their green flag stops. The late pitters to best set up the 1 more stop strategy were Harvick, Keselowski, Earnhardt Jr., Stewart, Kyle Busch and Jimmie Johnson on lap 100. The last to pit was Jamie McMurray at lap 101. Harvick took a pass through penalty and ended up back in the pack. Newman held the lead from lap 100 to lap 113 and he was back in the pits on lap 122, so with 38 laps left would most likely have to pit again. Lap 126 had a caution for fluid from Martin Truexs car, the leaders pitted and would have to stretch fuel if they wanted to make it to the end. Carl Edwards made a 2nd pit stop during the caution to top off on fuel but it cost him track position. Johnson led the restart and Tony Stewart pushed from 10th to 6th in a few of laps. After a day almost caution free shortly after the restart on Lap 128 Juan Pablo Montoya slid up the track into Matt Kenseth spinning them both out and bringing out another caution. Keselowski and Stewart traded paint and both of them slid but avoided the wall with good driving. Lap 137 had Dave Blaney in the wall for a caution, A.J. Almendinger brought another caution out on lap 146 and Blaney brought another out on lap 153. All the cautions allowed all drivers, including Newman, to save fuel to make it to the finish. On the final restart Greg Biffle maneuvered himself into 2nd but no one was catching Jimmie Johnson as he won his 3rd race of the year.

Howie made it back to back HoFs with a strong 128 and George took the spoon with 96. This allowed Howie to move into 3rd ahead of George.

The group had a strong average of 114 this week

Next race is in Sunday at Michigan.

In sad new driver Jason Lefler died in a dirt track accident in New Jersey on Wednesday June 12th. His only Sprint Cup start of this year was this past weekend at Pocono. Jason won 2 Nationwide races and 1 Truck Series race in his career. He will be missed.

x As a tribute to Jason Lefler, Denny Hamlin requested and received permission to have his #11 car painted in the scheme that was used back in 2005 for the #11 cars inaugural season for Joe Gibbs Racing with Lefler behind the wheel.

Kurt Busch ended up bumping pole sitter Carl Edwards on the start and took the lead when Carl didn't get a good start. Bobby Labonte spun out and Jeff Gordon tried but couldn't avoid Labonte and he was in the garage. Kurt Busch had the lead on lap 29 when he spun out, hit the wall and the damage was repaired in the pits but he was no longer a contender. Kasey Kahne while leading hit the wall and was the 2nd Hendrick Motorsports car out of the race. Another Hendrick driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. had the lead but he lost a cylinder and soon blew his engine making it 3 Hendrick cars that had horrible finishes. The final Hendrick car, Jimmie Johnson, waited until 2 laps to go when he was in 2nd place and looking for his 1st ever win at Michigan, to have a tire go down forcing him to pit and have a dissapointing finish. Greg Biffle who won the Fall race at Michigan made it back to back wins there, much to the delight of Ford executives who made the short trip down from Detroit and to the dismay of Chevrolet execs who saw Kevin Harvick finish 2nd in one of their cars.

Gtho takes his first HoF of the year with 117 points while George95 has now made the HoF/Spoon board in over 1/2the races now, taking HoFs in 1/3 of the races so far, but this week made it back to back spoons with a 92.

Srini extends his lead to 35 and Leo makes his high water mark of the year moving into 5th.

Next race is in Sunday at Sonoma.

Thanks, it makes the write ups a little later, but I try to get some of the important parts of the race in, especially for the drivers people are using each week. I must admit I don't watch the whole race, I tend to use the skip forward control on the DVR if I don't catch it live and even when I catch it live I can be doing other things while the race is on and doing more listening than watching.

x Last year A.J.Allmendingder was driving a full Sprint Cup season for Penske Racing until he failed a substance test. He cleaned up, went through NASCARs required programs and did some late season driving. This year he is driving a bit more including having a good showing for Penske in the Indianapolis 500, and on Saturday he won his first ever Nationwide Series race in a Penske car.

Car issues began even before the race started with debut driver Paulie Harraka not paying attention and getting into the back of debut driver Alex Kennedy on pit road. Bobby Labonte also had issues with his radiator, where he dropped liquid all over pit road and went to the garage. The strategy question of the day was if the teams were going to plan on 3 stops or the more daring 2 stops. Marcos Ambrose didnt take much time to pass pole sitter Jamie McMurray and it wasnt long before Bobby Labontes car was stalled on the track. Juan Pablo Montoya drew the ire of Kyle Busch when his hard driving spun Busch out on lap 3 of 110 laps while battling for 8th place. Montoya only slipped back to 14th because of this but Busch ended up all the way back in 27th. Paulie Harrakas day got worse around lap 5 or 6 when he went off track. Kurt Busch drove to the lead on lap 19 and had the lead on lap 24 when a weather caution came out, which caused Jeff Gordon, who had just passed the pit road marker, to slip all the way back to 35th on the restart. The top 9 cars stayed out, planning on the 2 pit stop strategy. Alex Kennedy was out of commission on lap 32 which brought most of of the field in for their first pit stops or to top off fuel. Brad Keselowski grabbed the lead on lap 34 and Kurt Busch came in for his first stop on lap 36, but ended up with a speeding penalty on pit road. The 3 stop strategists started green flag stops on lap 57 and there were still green flag stops happening on lap 63 when Danica Patrick ended up off track. Martin Truex Jr. took the lead and on lap 68 Tony Stewart bumped Denny Hamlin off the track. The next drivers to lead were Joey Logano, followed by Jeff Gordon. Kyle Buschs day didnt get better as Carl Edwards bumped him off the track. Eventually Martin Truex Jr. retook the lead. Jeff Gordon made a key 4 tire change and pushed from 18th to 3rd. Matt Kenseth was in the top 5 but in the last couple of laps faded some as his fuel was running low. Truex led Montoya going into the last lap when disaster struck Montoya and he ran out of fuel halfway through the lap and coasted to the finish line, but he didnt get that 2nd place finish, he ended up with a 34th place one due to the fuel shortage. Martin Truex Jr. was strong enough to take a much deserved win.

Carl Edwards and Kasey Kahne powered illiniman to the HoF with 115 points and Howie took the spoon with a 78.

Srini has distanced himself from 3rd place by 91 points, staying 27 ahead of 2nd as well.

Next race is in Saturday at Kentucky.

x It was supposed to be a Saturday night race in Kentucky but rain changed that to a Sunday afternoon one.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. had the pole position but Carl Edwards took the lead on the 1st lap, of 267. Competition caution on lap 30 brought the drivers in for changes. Denny Hamlin got a flat on lap 37 and there was a debris caution at this time. Not soon after Jr. was in the lead and Kyle Busch spun out while driving alongside Jeff Gordon and Jr. ended up driving over some of that debris and damaging his grille and splitter. Lap 48 had Kurt Busch nudge Brad Keselowski which sent him into the wall collecting Dave Blaney, Travis Kvapil and Greg Biffle. Keselowski and Biffle were in the garage for repairs with Biffles car having caught on fire. Hendrick cars were dominating at lap 78 with Jimmie Johnson leading, Kasey Kahne in 3rd and Jeff Gordon 5th. On lap 88 there was caution for tire debris and a bunch of the leaders were caught during green flag stops and ended up back in the pack. For the 2nd week in a row Jeff Gordon got caught pitting on a green flag stop on lap 147 when Denny Hamlin lost a tire and hit the wall bringing out a caution. Carl Edwards took the lead while dominate driver Jimmie Johnson held back some saving fuel already. The 9th caution of the day came on lap 241 when Brian Vickers hit the wall. Tire strategy came into play here as some took 4 tires, some 2 and Matt Kenseth took no tires and had the lead. Jimmie Johnson got a very bad restart and was spun out when he tried to block Joey Logano low. Johnson fell back to 18th and finished 9th with all Hendrick cars finishing in the top 12. The day belonged to Matt Kenseth though as his no tire pit strategy got him the win.

George95 was back in the HoF circle with a 124 and the crash that took out Keselowski and Biffle doomed gtho to the spoon this week with a 64.

George took 3rd place from Howie but has a pack breathing down his neck as 3rd through 7th are only separated by 46 points.

Next race is Saturday at Daytona.

Highlights of the race were 71 year old Morgan Shepherd starting the race, he finished 41st. Jimmie Johnson started at the back of the pack after his qualifying time was disallowed. Joey Loganos day was ruined early when he spun out due to a tire issue on lap 4, accidently hit 1 of his crew members on pit road and ended up in the garage. Kyle and Kurt Busch dominated early. After being the best car all day Kurt Busch was spun out by Ryan Newman on lap 225, both cars went to the garage. Tony Stewart made a stop on lap 213 and stayed on track from that point on with the lead. There were a lot of caution flags during the race. It was Stewart, Kyle Busch and Brian Vickers, who had taken the wave around on lap 160, driving the strongest cars with 50 laps to go. Vickers powered past Kyle with less than 20 laps to go and took the lead from Stewart 5 laps later. A caution flag with 5 laps to go left the leaders staying on the track while low on fuel and many other cars pitting for tires. The race restarted with 2 laps to go and Vickers led a 3 wide restart into the final lap, at which point Tony Stewart finally ran out of fuel, costing him 24 spots in the final standings for the race, and Vickers won his first Sprint Cup race since 2009.

LeoDaVinci took the HoF with 122 and Howie72 just made triple digits but it was not high enough to avoid the spoon for this week.

Next race is in two Sunday's at The Brickyard in Indianapolis.
