Had an icestorm earlier in the week. The next day it snowed. If you can ignore the power outage and all the downed tree limbs, it was kind of pretty. But that's a big "if".

For tiny little things they are real thugs. I started with one small clump suddenly appeared in the front garden. Now they're all over the grass in the front and have started spreading to the back. I don't mind though as they do look so pretty in flower all over the front grass.

Gary, that looks really pretty, but very cold.

Guarding the Royal Palace in Oslo. Not that this building is the complete palace...

Pretty country, Dot. I think I'd like to go there someday (but it might be too close to where flopsy is for my own safety).

LOL @Dippity. There's a road goes from here to North Wales, almost without bending. The Romans built it. They must have known you were coming. wink

The house in the foreground is the oldest house in Steyning, a small town in West Sussex. The town dates from Anglo-Saxon times, and was once the burial place of King Ethelwulf, king of Wessex and father of Alfred the Great. Then they dug him up and moved him to Winchester. Such is life. Or death.

Anyway, the ground floor of this house dates from the 14th century and is faced with flint, a traditional building material in Sussex; the upper floor is 16th century, half-timbered and faced in brick. However, many of the houses in Steyning were built on the sites of earlier buildings - in this case it is believed that the Mint of King Cnut was located on this site. Yes, that King Cnut. Perhaps the tide washed the building away. wink

Looking back down Karl Johans Gate from the Royal Palace. The pointy thing in the centre left I think is the cathedral but I could not get a decent photo of it. The building on the left by the bus is part of Oslo University and opposite the university was the fountain and National Theatre. My walk started about 10 minutes to the left of the cathedral and carried on for a lot longer after the palace.

This isn't recent but I thought I would share a painted I made for a friend. This is her horse, which was quite sick and had to be put down. She was really thrilled to have the painting in memory of her beloved pet.

Nice to see another artist here, and every artist knows one of the hardest things to get right are horses, and hands. You've done a very nice job. Of the two I'd rather try the horses.

Some interesting 1970s houses in Pagham, I used to live in a flat similar to these in Oxford

I love that horse picture. I truly envy the ability to paint and draw, it's one I wish I had, but alas, absolutely no talent at all in that direction.

Spring blossom is well and truly out now

Thanks Christinap. I have never taken lessons in art, but dabble and enjoy it. I have to be in the mood or on a mission to do it though. This is an acrylic that I did for my granddaughter. I actually painted three painting of Pooh characters for her. smile
