This post is going to prove what a sad fella I am. I have been tweeting for a few months and am proud of the retweets I have received from:

Marina Sirtis
Eric Idle
Phillip Adams
Peter Fitzsimons
Wendy Harmer
Ricky Gervais (He has about 5 million followers so am proud of that one.)

Anyone else game enough to share what a sad sack they are? LOL

I see this sort of thing all over...tweeting and retweeting. I don't have a Twitter account; I do well to keep up on Facebook!

Nice going with Councillor Troi though.

I don't know what re-tweeting is, I wouldn't know how to tweet.

I got one recently from Lord Monckton (I think it's his actual account) which was quite a compliment.

Ren, they are more private than this site. You can block people on twitter and on Facebook you can select who sees your stuff.

Hey Satguru that is pretty good, I imagine he would have a large following.

I like twitter because I get instant info on things happening around the world. I also get lots of info the MSM (Mainstream Media) don't publish or broadcast. The best part is the free comedy from hilarious people like Ricky Gervais, Seth Macfarlane and Steve Martin.

I'm more of a news and politics follower, but I get a nice politics fix from Twitter. I only have 48 followers, but I'm not looking to set the world on fire, via Twitter, though. I enjoy it. I especially like the lack of censorship. I can swear to my heart's desire!

Maybe but I still dislike the intrusiveness of Facebook etc. I joined and before I had a chance to opt for not being contacted I had 20-30 messages and new so called friends! No thanks.I beat a hasty retreat.

Twitter is very much not Facebook. Facebook is intrusive. Twitter is not. In fact Twitter is very much built for those who like to look on but not get involved. I don't remember the exact stats but I think that something like 70% of all Twitter users have never posted a single tweet.

To the OP - that's a great list. Mine is more limited; just Stephen Fry and John Cleese; and both of those were work-related so don't really count.

You don't have to accept anyone as your friend in Facebook, if they ask, just refuse. It does give you the opportunity of sharing, as in seeing, photos and videos of family members so they don't have to email and attach files.

The best thing for me about twitter is they allow real time comments on TV and radio programmes, and on the radio there's a good chance one will get read out as well. It means we can reply to other's comments and see how many other people also agree or disagree with us. It's buzzing every week on Question Time on BBC1.

Do you have to be a twit to tweet?
Think it would be as popular if they called a post from a twitter account a twitch rather than a tweet?

Yes but I would rather not exacerbate the situation by encouraging twits to find out my business.

I don't do Twitter, but I do have a Facebook account. For some reason, I just "don't get" twitter. I mean, what's the deal?

I did go on a retweat once. It was a weekend long and all I did was quilt! wink wink

A perfect example today when a police officer who is giving evidence at an inquiry about Catholic church and sexual abuse. He was getting lots of tweets of support and he was able to keep us up to date with what was going on in a much more detailed way than the media and in real time. His name is Peter Fox if anyone wants to give him support. The police force has turned on him because he has blown the whistle on a "Catholic Mafia" in the force who helped cover up the abuse.
