This is also somewhat of a limitation in the English language because there are only so many words you can use for similar things. I tend to often encounter player confusion when explaining FT points vs. team points vs. GC advancement points vs. Melting points vs. all the other kinds of points we have. Whozits and Gold coins are probably the only ones that never cause issues smile

Yes, that is not to be confused with the "Daily Challenges".

Maybe the confusion is how often the word "daily" appears. Also "challenge". We have the "the daily games" collectively, but also the "THe Daily Game" and "the TvT Daily Game" a/k/a "Team Trivia Daily Challenge" and the "Daily Challenges".

Maybe we need some other words... like...

"Once-a-Day Team Trivia Mix"
"The Diurnal Tasks"
"Challenges of the Day" or "Challenges du Jour"
"Ephemeral Challenges" (they only last a short while)
"The Quotidian Game" cool
"Quotidian Quests"
or whatever... grin

A very small suggestion for tidying up something..

On the home page it says "My Profile" and "My Results", but "Your Daily Challenges". Seems odd.

Here's a bug:

Today my easy challenge was this:
Play top rated quiz Let's Learn our ABC's the Disney Way - P and Q and score at least 558 points using the "Quiz Game" mode.

Without thinking, I played in the wrong mode. But it did not show up properly:
You played this quiz in HTML mode, not Game mode. Try again tomorrow!

It should say that I played in Flash mode (the older Flash mode, a la Instaquiz), because I did not play in HTML mode but in Flash mode. (Or it should just say that I failed to play in Quiz Game mode. But I did not play in HTML mode.)

I thought challenges were meant to be spread out. I've had 'score x in Mind Melt' on successive days this week, and I've got 'Twin' today, which I also had on 11th.

On another, unrelated, note, I got the Pet Monster II mini badge yesterday, which was nice, but I'd only done 29985 questions. I've reached the 30000 figure today, of course, but it felt 'wrong' to get the badgelet in advance.

11th and 13th is okay since the collision detection only looks at the previous day. In case of the Mind Melts, was one of them the medium and one the difficult variant? Those are not the same challenge, so I suppose they could happen.

I can't remember, Wes. I was frantically trying to score enough in MM for Ascension at the time, so my brain was frazzled enough anyway.

In that case you can probably be happy to have had MM challenges - double duty play smile

I took a quiz "Native to the US or Not?" (http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/SciTech/Native-to-the-USA-or-Not-2337.html) today for part of a Daily Challenge. I knew I played it before but I didn't think I played it within the last 30 days, and even if I did, I thought there's no harm in playing another quiz if this one doesn't satisfy.
Anyways, as it turns out, I last played the quiz on May 10; today is June 13. This means 30 days has passed--the Daily Challenge said I could take quizzes if I hadn't played them in the past 30 days--yet it didn't count. I thought 30 days meant 30 days, but apparently that's not true. How long is "30 days"?
(As I said, no big deal, I played another quiz to complete my Daily Challenge.)

Unfortunately since you completed the challenge, I can no longer see which of the quizzes did count or what message you received - it just shows it as complete.

Can you PM me the contents of http://www.funtrivia.com/myplayscores.cfm ? (Only the scores from today are needed - no need for the entire page)

Unfortunately, I can't do that since that is a Gold Member feature. I'm not sure how many other people have taken the quiz since I took it today, but the way I figured out which dates I took it on was to play the quiz and near the bottom of the screen where it lists recent winners, my name comes up twice with the dates I played the game.

I woke up this morning with an Epic challenge badgelet in my mailbox - woohoo. But as of last night when I'd played as muchofthe challenge as I could, I'd just barely not earned it. I was allowed to have three Xs among the challenge requirements and I had four with nothing left to play. Today it just says Conplete! (it never did last night) so I can't tell which part actually counted after all. Is this a bug or did I legit earn the Epic?

Today I'm playing Nemesis for high score in the Expert game. I've only played one quiz, but it has posted twice, leaving me only two more attempts to better my score instead of three.

I also note that my name is incorrect here; it should be daver852 instead of 852daver.

Perhaps in August 2011 when you created this account, you switched the numbers and the word. They aren't fully connected to each other; two separate accounts are created, one for FunTrivia, and one here. Sometimes you'll see players named bob104 here but their FunTrivia ID is really 62carl.

Though it still usually accurately links to the FT name, so it's odd that even that says 852daver. Interesting.

Also, did you use a mulligan? A mulligan counts as two plays.

Don't you have to manually enter a name for the forums? I mean, it doesn't even have to match to your FT username at all. Do you remember when and how you registered for the forums?

... Yes, I just looked. You can very easily change your display name by clicking on "My Stuff" and then selecting "Edit Profile".

It does have to match your FT ID though. Even if you can pick something else, we ask that your usernames match in both places. Sue can sort you out if you send her a PM

Curiosity and all, I've let my feline fly and found:

In the Forums there are two (Springfield and West Frankfort) Illinois accounts related to your user name
1) daver852
2) 852daver

In the quizzyside there is only daver852.

The dates of register in the Forums are very different. I think it was the daver852 that came first. Did you have trouble at some point logging into the Forums and created that second alias?

daver852: good quizzyland alias; registered Forums Jan 2006; last post May 2013, number of posts 28
852daver: not a valid username; registered Forums Aug 2011; last post today; number of posts two, both today.

It seems you have two forums accounts. The different city inputs might be how that came to be.

As GG offered, the admin/moderator, sue943, could straighten it out for you if you message her. Or, try using the "Contact us" link.

PS Edit: At the time of your earlier post today it was just before noon FT time. The games stop at midnight so, you should have had at least 11 more chances to better your hourly Expert Game score.
PPS Edit: That would be 11 overall topics to choose from for two more runs (or three if you'd gotten your lost one back).

Yesterday I had to terminate a mind melt game prematurely so i could get. Credit before the day change cut off time. In today's mind melt i needed 2154 to get credit for the daily hard challenge. I got all 30 correct and a score of 2342 yet the daily challenge states this challenge is incomplete as it has recorded yesterday's score. Please can I receive my three point credit. Thanks

Today I had to find five quizzes with three "p"s in the title and score at least five correct on each one for a Medium Challenge. I did so, but two of the quizzes had the exact same title (with different quiz codes and questions). Only one is listed as being complete. I will search out another one and do it, but I wanted to report the anomaly, because there may be someone else who falls into the same problem:

Both quizzes are called "The Pursuit of Happyness" and they have IDs of http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/The-Pursuit-of-Happyness-257744.html and http://www.funtrivia.com/trivia-quiz/Movies/The-Pursuit-of-Happyness-297678.html.

The section showing which I got credit for reads:

"Popeye" - "Baby Wants Spinach" 10/10.
It's a Puppet! 10/10.
The Pursuit of Happyness 6/10.
"Happy Days": "Passages", Parts 1&2 10/10.

The quiz not listed is the second ID listed above, and I got 10/10 on it as shown in the score list:

Jun 16 13, 7:54 AM shuehorn 10 / 10

Thanks for looking into this.

[edited after playing an additional quiz to show that I have now completed the challenge, in case anyone looks.

Peter Piper Picked a Peck of Pickled Peppers 9/10.]

Sue

Is it possible that the challenge requires the five quizzes to be in five different subcategories? Often when I get a challenge like that, this is the case. I suppose it stops one from playing five quizzes about the same movie or book, eh?

Note that shuehorn is not talking to herself, we just have the same avatar. smile

Yes, you need to have them in different subcategories. This came up in testing when my first test round was with the letter "U". Five quizzes on Uruguay later... smile

Oh how silly of me. It is stated right in the challenge... "Each quiz must be in a different sub-category"....

Thanks for setting me straight.

Today I received the Epic: Perfect Day challenge. I completed all the challenges, but it still shows "incomplete." I think this is because I used my Gold Member perk to switch out one of the additional challenges it gave me. It allowed me to do this, and there's nothing in the rules that says you can't do this (it says you can't switch out an Epic challenge for a different Epic challenge, but it doesn't say you can't switch out a Medium level challenge within the Epic: Perfect Day). Obviously, I would not have done this if I knew the Epic challenge would remain incomplete.
