Can I just protest that falling asleep in front of the TV is a) not confined to the old and b) sometimes a sign of good taste.

I got 50% but that's not counting the things I've always done that are signs of being old. I've always misplaced things, that's not new! At least the other day a friend of mine who hadn't been a passenger in my car before thought I drove like a rally driver. I wasn't driving quite like that, but certainly less sedately than she obviously does. Now where are my glasses.. oh, on my face wink

Holy cow! I'm not quite half-way to 40 (from 30) and judging by that list, I am ancient!

You must be about my age, Lones. I counted a few that apply to me, but I don't feel old.

I really like that tip about bringing slippers to someone else's house. I might start that.

I got 18, but at least five have always applied- I've always listened to talk radio overnight and done puzzles etc, I don't think they're all age related.

I'm hitting 40 this year and at least half of the list I've done/said the last few years. I have always felt that I was old before my time laugh
(And I've often taken slippers with me to relations houses! smile )

How many of the 50 signs of getting old apply to you?

8. Hating noisy pubs
10. Forgetting people’s names
11. Choosing clothes and shoes for comfort rather than style
13. Falling asleep in front of the TV
14. Needing an afternoon nap
16. Struggling to use technology
17. Losing touch with everyday technology such as tablets and televisions
23. Misplacing your glasses / bag / keys etc
24. You move from Radio one to Radio Two
27. Taking a keen interest in The Antiques Road Show
30. Listening to the Archers
32. Never going out without your coat
33. Getting bed socks for Christmas and being very grateful
35. Gasping for a cup of tea
36. Taking a flask of tea or coffee on a day out
38. Taking a keen interest in the garden
41. Taking a keen interest in dressing for the weather
42. Putting everyday items in the wrong place
43. Obsessive gardening or bird feeding
44. Really enjoying puzzles and crosswords
48. Joining the National Trust

Here's the problem. I've done all these things since I was 16.
Have I always been old?

I've always listened to the radio overnight, and I garden obsessively, and I feed the birds. I've never taken slippers to a friend's house, good idea though. As for moaning about rubbish on TV = that's nothing to do with age, it's because TV these days is rubbish!

I counted up and about 35 of them apply to me. I am therefore offically ancient and entitled to say whatever I want whenever I want, bringing the total up to 36.

I'm never buying an Apple television again! How does a feller change the channel on this thing?

I don't feel old either, Dave smile

My husband must have been old at 18 - I know he used to do a lot of the stuff on that list and still does. In fact, I'm pretty sure he's at home now asleep on the lounge in front of the TV and it's not even lunch time. Mind you he has a good excuse at the moment - he broke his leg a couple of weeks ago and is on a strict diet of rest and daytime TV laugh

I got 19 of the signs, but I've had some of them for a long time. For example, I've thought that most TV is rubbish for a very long time: in fact, when I moved to London in my mid-twenties I didn't have a set for the first fifteen years.

I think you and my husband would get along well TabbyTom, even now he watches University Challenge and the occasional documentary and that is it. Less than two hours a week.
'Why do you want TV when you have books and music?' is his wondering question.

lol at Paul's answer : )

None of us are OLD, but some of us might simply have "old souls".

oh and btw? If you don't bring your own slippers to my house, I can provide you with some (those yarn slip on sock type things, I think the polish/ukrainians call them slopchies or something). Uncarpeted floors can be cold, even in summer - and hey, I live in Canada after all. Which is also why I take a hoodie/jacket of some sort when I leave the house. I believe this is called "sensibility", not "ancientness" lol.
