In the previous hour it says on the scores for level 111-200 that I had the best score for Entertainment Other. The win does not appear on my list though.

The time if day is a bit slower, so divisions 40-200 were combined. You may have won with the 111-200 division, but someone between levels 40-110 beat you and took the win.

The hour after that clearly showed the 111-200 division (I scored badly in that one). So I guess it was bad luck then.

The divisions were combined in the quieter hours on the site to ensure there are enough people playing each game. I can remember coming top in the early days of WTE but not getting credit for a win as not enough players had taken part. Terry changed the system so that didn't happen again (not at my request, I would add!) but it's now had the opposite effect for you.

This is confusing me. If you play in a division already announced, how can the division be combined afterwards?

In the game notes, it says if there are 20 players in the set (if you beat 19 or 20, I suppose) then you get a note on your profile.

Maybe there were less than 20 players in the set, James? We should all make an effort to play even when we don't think we can win, so that people don't get caught out now that the topics are a little more difficult or esoteric.

Edit: I just peeked at last hour's scores for various levels and see that in the earliest level you can get your win noted on your profile despite there being less than 20 players.

What is the rule?

I don't think that rule exists any longer, Chavs. My very first Expert win was back when I was brand new to the site, in October of 2011, and it says on my profile that I beat 7 people. So the rule must have changed more than 20 months ago.

I am not sure what division it actually indicated when I played Entertainment Other. I was not paying that much attention at that time. There were definitely more than 20 players listed though. It could be it was still 40-200. It would be logical as I am listed as the best score for 111-200, but when I check all winners it lists a level 59 player as the winner.

In the next hour I played The Sound of Music to see what category the result would be under. This time it definitely said 111-200. So maybe it was just changed to that again, which would make it very unlucky. But such is life. Try, try again I suppose.

This is a known display problem - when you play in the last hour of 41-200 combined, you are correctly scored as such, but then, when the next hour begins, the game switches to 111-200 mode and that also affects the "last hour" display, so you might seem the winner but are not.

Look in the "Winners" list (http://www.funtrivia.com/expert/winnerstoday.cfm), not "last hour's scores" to see who actually won and what the divisions were. In your case, it shows the game having been played with the 41-200 setup.

The minimum is 5 for it to count. (And yes, it has been that way for years.)
