That's a fair comment, but maybe something like 'inventor of a heavy oil engine' would be better than a wording that repeats his name.

It's not his fault the engine was named after him.

What about Mr. Fokker, the airplane designer? If the descriptor was "designed fighter planes", that is simply too vague a description.

I don't mind easy, but I can't see what challenge there is in reading a clue which gives you the answer.

A clue which says 'Dutch designer of Fokker aircraft' is a giveaway, in my opinion and not worth asking. 'Dutch designer of aircraft which bear his name' isn't, but narrows it down sufficiently. That's my opinion, anyway.

Each to their own, but this is a trivia site, asking questions, not just giving information.

I'm sure Looney_Tunes will deal with it as she thinks fit.

I have no firm view on the animals but it is a bit silly when the clue is 'race horse', the answer is Phar Lap, and the other answers are Einstein, Nixon, Picasso, Brönte and Depp. wink

Until playing Who Am I?, I'd never heard of Phar Lap.

I can definitely see how it would be a whole lot of work to come up with something more specific to distinguish all the footballers and cricketers, but I long for the day when that happens. Ugh.

Today's question set 23 (timed) contained "Kosh Naranek: Fictional character, Vorlon ambassador on TVs 'Babylon 5.'" While I do love "Babylon 5," I'm doing my duty and reporting him!

The description for Glenda Jackson includes 'current Member of Parliament', which is still correct but is time dependent and won't be true for much longer as she has already announced that she'll be standing down at the next election.

"Welsh writer; actor; documentary film maker = (Kenneth Griffith); changed to Welsh actor; documentar"

Had this today which is presumably a change that's been made and still managed to keep both sets of text

Now it says "Welsh actor; documentary film maker; 'The Public's Right to Know'", which was the intended change.

Wow, of all the films I associate with Kenneth Griffith, that is the one that would be least useful to me. Why leave out the fact that he's a writer? I associate him with his history of the siege of Ladysmith at least as much as with his films.
