Here's a close up of the inscription as seen on my last photo of the Bristol Eye hospital.

(It's attributed to 1st Viscount Samuel, a 20th century British politician.

Not a good photo of it with the vegetation growing there but this is the old Awatere River bridge at Seddon in Marlborough. The trains had the top deck with the road vehicles the bottom deck of the one way bridge. The new road bridge is two lane thus saving having to stop if the lights were red. The trains continue to go over the old bridge.

Canada Day fireworks. Not the best fireworks pic I've ever taken, but I kinda like it anyway.

Taken at a local community craft fair and market, at the petting zoo they had for the children - this must be the little piggy that went to market!

This was taken using my iPad from the bedroom in Bristol, the posh hotel. I hadn't realised that I didn't have to email myself with the photos from my iPad, now I know how to do it properly. smile

I know I'm not the only local history enthusiast round here, after searching for just over a week from finding the last one this beauty turned up over the weekend.

These signs are graded by their rarity, and the major destination maps and arrows with more than one place on are easily the rarest now after the roundabout signs, which luckily had two near me I got to before the council replaced them, but it was only a month ago before I got a multiple destination one, and now another.

We finally reached Picton at the top of the South Island where we stayed for the night before crossing over to the North Island. This is the Bluebridge ferry leaving Picton and heading down Queen Charlotte Sound, I crossed over on the Inter-Islander ferry (apparently a 92km trip from Picton to Wellington which takes just over 3 hours). I must not forget the sneaky seagulls that tend to get into many photos...lol

Two landmarks in Hunstanton, the only English east coast town where you can watch the sun set over water.

It looked like the piggy that had eaten too much roast beef to
me.

I spotted this blast from the past in a secondhand shop window.
It brought back memories of seaside amusement arcades and
piers when I were young.

There is a toy museum at Hordon on the Hill in Essex, and they have a load of the old penny in the slot machines there. All in full working order and they supply pennies to play them with as well. Some of the really old ones are quite valuable these days.

I'm a bit late with this photo of the (nearly full) super moon from last month but it's taken me
this long to find a way of cropping & zooming in without it coming out fuzzy. I think it was
worth the wait, but I'm biased.

The last photo before crossing the Cook Strait the next morning. This is the forshore and marina at Picton at the top of the South Island.

I just fancied an icecream so hopped in the car and drove just over a mile to an icecream van. This was part of the view as I ate the icecream. A bit of a heat haze.
