A stretch of Southend sea front where a lot of people come for their holidays.

More from the archives when I actually went on holiday, this is the view from the south end of the Isle of Skye in 1968

Shop front on Nathan Road, Kowloon (Hong Kong) - lots of exotic foods, none of which looked or smelled particularly appetising!

The Empire State building 2 years ago. I doubt it's changed much since then.

Hope this picture qualifies for "holidays". Maynooth and I went to the US Independence Day Fair today. The fair is organised by the American Women's Club of Perth. Unfortunately, although 4th July is a holiday in the USA, it is not a holiday here, so they hold it on the nearest weekend.

They have American foods and drinks, American sports demonstrations, American vintage and military vehicles, American goods and crafts for sale, American military band performing, a patriotic costume contest, etc.

I think these two little girls have a good chance of winning the patriotic costume contest.

The auto tour of the Gettysburg Battlefield is well worth taking (2 CDs and a guidebook, follow the auto tour signs). This is General Gouverneur Warren looking down on the battlefield from Little Round Top, one of the hundreds of statues and memorials that dot the ground.
