Lost one pound now - Nine stone and seven pounds (nine and half pounds!) . Took me six weeks to lose one pound, but during that six weeks I've not put any weight on either My weight is the lowest it's been for many years, and long may it continue

I really do belong here but believe me, I know my way of approaching everything is very different. That there is no way I can be me and not complicate, annoy, even frustrate seemingly simple goals.

I annoy and frustrate myself the most!

But I'd still like to try, if you'll let me.

Would anyone object to me trying? You can PM me. I promise not to bite if I'm not bitten firs...ummm...well...I promise only to playfully nip. Okay?

Jane, I tried my scales gain, and still the weight is not shifting, it just isn't fair.

Oops! Been straying from my diet this week, and nibbling, so two pounds on, which makes me Nine Stone Eight pounds . But, it happens! And all the dry biscuits I was nibbling on, went out for the birds to enjoy!

The cakes - bit risky with chewy sweets for me
Posted by: sue943

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Apr 22 2006 07:09 AM

Yes of course, I forgot that. Now just to really upset you I will go to the tearooms around the corner and purchase one of the best chocolate eclairs in the world - if they have any left! Won't be long...
Posted by: sue943

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Apr 22 2006 07:43 AM

Here you are, one eclair. whoops, all gone, I will save this cream slice for later!

This is really not fair, this amazing tearoom (The Poplars) is less than half a mile from here, so a couple of minutes in the car. Sara will attest to the deliciousness (is there such a word) of their cakes, they made me a meringue, strawberry and cream conconction the first time she came to stay. Obscene.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat May 06 2006 01:08 AM

A extremely good week, somehow I have lost 2 pounds, making me Nine Stone Four Pounds . But I am eatting sensibly, and also enjoying "goodies" in moderation. My ambition it to get to eight and a half, which would be just right for my height - barely 5 foot - and get into a dress. The weight loss has been slow and steady, the only way to do it, and I've felt much better since it went!

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat May 27 2006 08:06 PM

Congratulations on your persistence! Are you doing any new or increased exercising? I've started Karate one month before my 50th birthday - we've got a club in my neighbourhood, so it's a very social thing. My weight is coming down verrrryyyy slowly but I think that's because I'm putting on more muscle . Anyway, I found it really helps with the food cravings.

Not exactly increased exercises, as I have limited mobility, but get to the gym twice a week, and work out for 20 minutes, then a nice relaxing walk in the pool and a even more relaxing jacussi!

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Jun 24 2006 08:15 AM

I've just spent three weeks in Germany. Usually that means a lot of really good food and corresponding weight gain. This time however I managed to stick to my program, while still enjoying the food, and dropped another 5 pounds (164 now). My biggest problem is the fat around my waist; it seems to be very hard to get rid off.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Jul 15 2006 10:22 AM

I have sent away for one of schemes which is supposed to help, so I will weigh in today then see how we get on, I want to lose about two stone five pounds, that is 33 pounds. That will take me back to my low last year of ten stone or 140 pounds, but this time I want to do it slowly! If I lose more than a pound or two each week it will affect the clotting time of my blood so I have to be careful.

12 stone, 5 pounds so that is 173 pounds

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Mon Aug 14 2006 07:58 PM

It's been a long haul, first the strength, then the muscle and then finally the weight. After 3 1/2 years going to the gym I dropped from my maximum ever 12 stone in 2002 to around 10 and a half this year. Remember muscle weighs more than fat so waist size is pretty important and body mass index (we have the machinery to check there). Pinching less than an inch is the easiest test as that tells you if the BMI is too high or not.
But after a few weeks of chicken pox I dropped another 5 pounds. I would never recommend that way of losing weight but everyone's noticed the difference and I should keep it there now after rearranging my eating habits when the diet started. I am now around 10 stone 4, but until my waist drops another inch to 32 I won't be pigging out again for some time!

Hey, just had a look at the thread there, well done to everyone, there seems to be a lot of progress and commitment. I am starting on a healthy eating and exrecise program next week, so if you guys don't mind I'll probably post my progress on here, it feels like there's a lot of support within this thread for everyone. I'll let you know on Monday what I'm starting out at and what my target is.

Does anyone have any good ideas for exercise, as I have bad ankles and can't do running or jogging, I also have an allergy to the chemicals in swimming pools so that knocks out 1 of the best forms of exercise unfortunately.

Thanks guys!

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Tue Aug 15 2006 07:22 AM

I don't know whether or not you are male or female, but if female, I highly recommend Curves. I have very bad knees (arthritis) and am able to handle the circuit training there quite nicely.
At home I have a glider - one of those things where you have a spot for each foot and then move your legs in a forward and backwards motion and glide rather than walk. It's absolutely no impact.
I also use a stability ball for pelvic tilts and other stretches.

What's Curves? I'm female so if it's for women please clue me in.

Curves is a gym strictly for women. There are several here in Texas.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Tue Aug 15 2006 01:04 PM

Curves is a chain of gyms strictly for women, that is based on a 30 minute, circuit training idea. They have various machines which are alternated with 'recovery pads' and you go around twice (or three times depending on how many machines that particular branch has), stretch and leave.
The machines are geared to real women of all ages, and I find very little difficulty with them despite the arthritis in my knees and, to a lesser degree, my lower back.
You will not find any aerobic queens or body builders there, just real women of every age (my club has members in their teens and members in the 80s) who are interested in getting/keeping fit and active. They have other programs that you can also take advantage of if you so desire. I don't bother.
I'm pretty sure that they have clubs in the UK, and in a city the size of Glasgow, there's bound to be a couple. I just don't know how close to you they'd be.
If you can't find a Curves, I know that there are a couple of other knock-off type clubs around here, so there's bound to be something of the sort in your part of the world.
Let me know if you're able to find anything.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Mon Aug 21 2006 12:41 PM

In August 2003, I was overweight. I was eating the wrong food - chocolate biscuits and sausage rolls were my downfall - and all, in all, hardly a week went by without me having aches and pains. After several blood tests - which was hard enough, becuase I had (and still have) a terror of injections - they discovered I had borderline diabetes. If I carried on the way I was going, it woulld be fully blown diabetes and meant injections every day. I was 13 stone (roughly about 182 pounds)...probably more...and had to do something.
2003 Picture

So, after a good night's sleep, my "new life" began. And it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I still allow myself my "goodies" a couple of times a week. But with all things, I eat in moderation. Slowly but surely, I began to lose weight. Sometimes I'd lose a pound, sometimes I'd stay the same. And even over Christmas and Easter, my weight did not change a lot, as it might have done. So, three years since my "diet" I now weigh Nine stone and 3 pounds (roughly 129 pounds) So in three years I've lost 53 pounds. And I've never felt better
2006 Picture

My Dad was so pleased with my weight loss, and so is Mum. So I plan to keep it up. I am eating sensibly but still enjoying "goodies". And I really appreciate the support of my Funtrivia friends too!

My socialising will be approx 150 miles from home, it involves travelling to England.

At the moment it looks like...

Thurday evening travel to Southampton
Friday morning meet with female cousin last seen about 40 years ago
Saturday afternoon meeting with a former colleague from a job I left 32 years ago - I have seen her about three times since then and not for at least ten years.
Saturday evening school reunion, dinner with 18 people not seen for more than 40 years
Sunday hopefully meeting up with two male cousins not seen for 45 years and their sister whom I met a couple of years ago
Monday hopefully meeting with another former colleague from same job, I haven't seen her for about ten years either.
Monday evening - fly home and fall into bed exhausted!

I am (drumroll!) NINE STONE this week!!! Lost two pounds, and have lost four whole stone since August 2003 - thats 56 pounds! !
I know a few pounds might creep back on over the next two/three weeks, but my next goal is to be eight and a half stone, for the summer And I am eatting very sensibly, not on any particular diet, and I shall certainly not lose too much weight!

Jane that is absolutely wonderful, you must be so pleased - yes, you are so pleased. Just think of the effect on your overall health. This must have been so difficult for you with your reduced mobility, it isn't as if you could exercise the weight off. Well done.

Delighted you had a good Christmas Jane. It won't settle, it will soon come off. It is 'settled' fat which is so difficult to shift.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Dec 30 2006 08:14 AM

Christmas through New Year is always a problem Jane. I think most people put on a few pounds. All those biscuits, cakes and sweets that are around the house just jump onto ones hips (especially when you are looking the other way).

Wait till next week and then give it another go. I'm sure you will loose those 4lbs in no time.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Dec 30 2006 07:36 PM

Just read this thread and I thought I'd join in. I have decided I really need to get in shape and lose some weight...I just hope I can stick with it as long as Jane obviously has!

I weighed myself at the end of November and I weighed 185 lbs.!! That's a few more than what I was in high school before I lost some weight. Of course I've had a daughter since then, but after she was born I hit a low at 150 lbs.

Well, I have started excercising in the past week, and I am on my way to the store to buy a scale to weigh in and see how bad it is. I'm also starting to drink more water and eat a bit healthier. I tend to eat way too much chocolate...

Ok, I just got back and weighed in at 188.2 lbs. (Edited to add weight.)

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sun Dec 31 2006 09:48 PM

So... what's this all about? Support for weight loss and tracking and stuff?

With the start of the New Year can someone post the jist of things here?

I'm starting a new healthier lifestyle with the new year as well. Got quite a few to lose but I'm more into inches than pounds. My blood pressure is a.o.k., same with my sugar levels and cholesterol levels good and bad stuff.

I'm pretty much just lazy, addicted to anything to do with sitting. I do need to be careful because I broke my knee-cap twice in a six month period requiring 4 invasive surguries back in the mid 80's. Of course, now I need to lose the weight because of the bad knee but its hard to move becase of the bad knee. Quite the catch 22 eh?

Way to go Jane! It's nice to go down in weight. I have also lost about a pound this week! That makes me very happy and it's just the beginning!

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Jan 06 2007 10:53 AM

Ok, here goes. Over the past couple of years I have definitely put on too much weight. When this thread (or another like it, I can't remember ) started, I had just lost some weight and was in good shape and felt good about myself so I didn't join in here. Now, 2-3 years later, I am overweight again and feeling...not so good about myself.

My sister has pretty much always been overweight some, but this past year decided to really get in shape. She has gone on a strict diet and has hired a personal trainer to help her. So far she is doing wonderfully well and is looking fantastic. Am I happy for her? You bet! But am I a little envious? Um, yeah a little. We are best friends but there is still that sibling rivalry that pokes up its nasty little head every now and then. So I've decided it's time to get my butt off the bench and lose some of this excess.

This morning I weighed in at 165 pounds and am wearing a size 10 (American size). I must have "heavy bones" because I can't go below 135 pounds or I start to look emaciated so I must lose at least 25 pounds to be at my optimum weight. I'm also 5'6" and according to the latest height and weight charts, I should be between 140-159 lbs. I can't afford a personal trainer but I'm not going to let that deter me. I will be watching what I eat, cutting down on calories, fats, and sugars. This is what has worked for me in the past and what my doctor agrees upon. I will also start walking more. ClaraSue (the dog) likes to go for long brisk walks, so that's what we'll start doing. I have joined the bandwagon! Wish me luck and I wish the best of luck to everyone else who is struggling to lose their excess.

And Jane, may I say: Congratulations to you for all the weight you have lost and have kept off over the past year.
Sue, those Jelly Belly's are sugar free, not calorie free , but I'm happy that you and Sara have had a good time together because social eating is probably one of my favorite pasttimes.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Jan 06 2007 11:14 AM

Well, good luck ClaraSue! I am also 5'6" but I have a bit more weight to lose because I am about 184 now. Like you, I am also watching what I eat and drinking more water instead of sugar loaded drinks. I am starting to exercise daily, even if it is only for 10 minutes.

Well, my schedule today has been crazy so I didn't get a chance to weigh myself this morning first thing like I usually do so I'll go with yesterday's weigh-in. No real significant change but it was up by about a half a pound this week.

I haven't been able to exercise as regularly this week or eat as healthy as I had been so I think that had something to do with it.

No weight loss this week. I've been too sick to exercise and too tired to pay close attention to what I'm eating. I know those are just excuses, so I'll have to do better now that I'm feeling better. But at least I haven't gained.

And this week I am Eight Stone Nine Pounds (121 pounds) , lost a pound in two weeks. It is coming up to my four year "anniversary", at the end of August 2003, I was 13 stone (and probably more). What a difference four years can make If I get to eight and a half stone or below, I'd be over the moon, so I could "flutter" between eight and a half and nine stone during December

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Aug 11 2007 05:31 AM

Ah, but that won't mean a great deal to many of us with dress sizes varying so much. Would that be an American 8? The UK 8 is smaller than the US one. I have no idea about the Australian sizing although I would guess it might be along the same lines as the UK one.

So how about posting actual weights? How much have you lost and how much do you want to lose?

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Aug 11 2007 05:44 AM

OK I went from 130 to 106 and I need to get down to 98lbs.

As I am on the vertically challenged side that will be perfect for me and will also lessen the stress on my back so will have less pain.

I know that sounds slim but for me it is the perfect weight.

I'm not sure what most of this is in Kilograms, but I'm trying to lose a little excess fat and at the moment I weigh about 59Kgs. The problem for me is getting motivated and stopping snacking. I'm forever guilty of putting things off, especially when it's cold outside.

EDIT: which the weight converter just told me was 130.1 pounds.

Either I need to grow or lose weight.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Thu Aug 16 2007 05:36 PM

So maybe I can join in here, too.

In 1998, when I was 18, I fell into a very deep depression after my younger brother died, and ended up putting on about 50 pounds in that first year. The next 5 years or so were spent in an emotionally abusive relationship, during which I packed on even more pounds, and the depression just didn't stop even after that... I finally topped out last year at about 275 pounds, US size 24.

I've been trying to get healthier in slow, tiny steps because my emotional state is still pretty fragile and I beat up on myself badly when I try to do something and fail... so I'm not setting goals, or denying myself dessert, or doing anything that I can "fail" at, I'm just trying to make little changes here and there. I wasn't expecting it to have much effect...

But today, I weigh 230 pounds and wear US size 18.

Amazing... I still have pizza and ice cream a few times a month, ...I had baklava and a fruit smoothie for an afternoon snack yesterday. I can't be bothered to go to the gym, because I'd rather be playing video games or reading. But I'm still losing weight - 30 pounds since January, and counting. I'm really not quite sure how it's happening, but it is.

Giving up all soda, even diet soda, for water has made a HUGE difference. So has going for short walks after dinner a couple times a week. I've been trying to satisfy my sweet cravings with fruit instead of cheesecake. That's really about all I've done... except last week, I bought a bicycle and I'm hoping to get lots of riding in before it starts raining for the winter. (For those of you who may not know, the Pacific Northwest - Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia - are famously rainy. I have a friend who moved here from Ireland and she said it felt like home!)

Anyway, there's my story, and I will post updates on my slow but steady progress every now and then (though not every week, because minor fluctuations happen and I'm not going to stress over them) and hopefully you all will be so kind with your support.

I lied... I do have one goal. I'd like to be under 200 pounds by the time I turn 30 in January 2010 - but I think I should be able to manage that.

Congratulations to Jane and everyone else out there making this journey... May I come with you?

Anyway this week I weighed in at 57kgs/125.5482 pounds.

I guess the bike riding and the mowing the lawn yesterday did do something.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Tue Aug 21 2007 03:25 AM

No weight measure for me today, but how about we talk measurements? Over the weekend I biked 5 miles and did some light hiking across riverbeds and climbing steep rock embankments.

Here's a comparison chart - the changes look small, but they're happening, nice and steady.

This is from 12 August 2004 to 20 August 2007:

Weight: 270 lbs -> 230 lbs
Neck: 15.5 in -> 15.25 in
Bicep: 16.5 in -> 16 in
Tricep: 11.25 in -> 11 in
Bust: 51 in -> 51 in (that has fluctuated back and forth, dipping down to 50 and then up to 52 even as I steadily lose weight... so no clue what's happening there.)
Ribcage: 44.5 in -> 42.75 in
Waist: 48 in -> 46 in
Hips: 52 in -> 51 in
Thigh: 25.25 in -> 21.66 in
Calf: 18.5 in -> 18 in

Body fat % has dropped from 46% to 42%. Slow, gradual changes that I can keep up in the long-term. It may be slower than heck, but I know I can stick with it and I know it's made results in my life already.

Lioness, I don't mean to be personal, but how tall are you?

57kg is getting a bit low for an adult female of child-bearing age. It depends on your age too, but don't get too carried away. Being too thin can be as unhealthy as being too chubby.

Wow, good job jessena. I've been walking, or rather trying to, it's been so hot lately, at least 2-5 miles a day. A friend of mine didn't give up any food, ate the way she always does, just walked more, and lost a lot of weight over a period of time. You're right, slow and easy does it. Keep up the good work. I didn't measure myself but maybe I should. I know that the walking has helped take inches off my waist.

Took a physical for work the other day.

Not sure of kilogram/stone conversions (forgive me!) but being 6'4", was stoked to be down from 210 to 188. Exactly where I should be, got almost all of quickness and vertical jump (as soon as this heat wave dies, looking forward to getting back on the basketball court!) back too! Not to mention a cholesterol level of 146. Very stoked on that!

Was a little stressed from a LONG time in the waiting room prior so pulse was up around 48, usually at around 42. Oh well.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Mon Sep 03 2007 12:42 AM

Could somebody tell me what stoked means, please? Is it something akin to 'delighted'?

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Mon Sep 03 2007 02:26 AM

Delighted, excited, whoohoo! Something along those lines.

And Schoonie, yea for you! Good job. And a 48 pulse? You're nice and sloooow.

Exactly, you got it!

And taesma, like I said, it SHOULD be at 42 like before. The place I go for my physicals, they said it was almost the lowest they'd seen. Asked why they said "almost", they said, well, the record is 0 but you're second best!

Funny thing is I'm NOT slow. Have a TON of energy and I'm not known as The Intensity for no reason. Just in really good shape, I guess. I wish this 100 degree heat wave would end though - killing me!

As for my diet - I don't eat anything special in particular. I have a limited diet.

Good job lass, that's what I call will power! (You don't mind me calling you lass do you?:) I'm from Lancs originally:)

Gosh it makes me nostalgic to hear weight in stones, I generally think in kilos!
My simple goal is not to let my weight creep above 60 kilo (132 lbs) (target weight for my height) which can be a tough challenge in winter when it's cooler and I want to eat more! Haven't weighed myself in about a month so here goes...Oops. 60.2! I guess I have to report back;)
An acceptable weight, it's the trend that always has to be watched, especially now.

Eight Stone Six pounds (118 pounds) . This is a massive achievement - I honestly can't remember when I last was the same year - at least 15 or 16 years ago.
However, seeming it is December - advent calenders and Christmas - I am bound to put on a few pounds I will just limit the goodies

I'm not sure if anyone is still using this thread but when I weighed myself at the gym today I was down to 120kg.

I've revised my goals aswell. My long term one is to get back to double figures but my short term goal is to lose 10% of my current weight.

This would put me down at 108 kg.

I'm not purposely trying to lose weight any more, but am pleased when a pound or two slips off. Considering nearly five years ago, I was nearly five stone heavier, I couldn't be happier

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Fri Jul 04 2008 09:43 AM

My updates will only be done monthly as that is how often the gym I attend does them.

The 3 kilos I lost I put down to the government. I have to do a program called Work for the Dole as I'm currently unemployed and to get to where it is I have to walk about 20 minutes from the train station, and given that I haven't been to the gym much - (I've had some personal issues) this is really the only excercise I'm doing.

It did take me 3 months to lose the 3 kilos but hopefully it won't take me as long to lose the next 3 as I plan to start going back to the gym now that the issues don't really exist anymore.

Good going Jane.

I've got a pair of them lying around somewhere. They used to fit, I want to get back into them. Their a style I like that I don't seem to be able to get anymore.

I use the scale at the gym. My scale would be useless at the moment as it doesn't go as high as my weight - it's also too hard to read it an analog one.

I just got weighed at the gym today and I've lost 1.9 Kilo's this month. I've gone to the gym about once a week. I hope to go more. I need more time though. I'm starting a course on Monday (a night course), am hoping to start another course in August (it depends on numbers as to whether it runs or not) and have just got a job as a relief childcare worker.

I'm still walking everywhere as Dad's car isn't working.

I'm now 118.1. I decided to make my goal to be to lose 2 kilos by next month but I'll probably lose more due to everything I'm doing.

What I really need to do now though is get the eating side of things under control.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Jul 19 2008 10:08 AM

At the moment I'm maintaining, maybe losing a pound, maybe staying the same for four or five weeks, and very rarely allowing a pound or two creep on. I'm happy at my weight. If I ever do get down to a nice "round" eight stone, I would be in seventh heaven. I'm happy at the weight I am at the moment too.

I though you were at the maintenance stage Jane. Your doing really well it's been a fair few weeks that you've been at the same weight.

I'm sure you'd be able to get down to the eight stone with out too much trouble.

That's really good rayven. I tried on my smaller jeans last night and they almost fit but not quite. They fit better than last time I tried them on though. I know that the clothes I have got fit better (I'm still wearing the same one's though as I currently don't have the money to go and get anything new.)

That's really good Jane.

I'm down to 110 kilos. That's 8 kilos in about 2 months. I think most of it is because I've been sick and lost my appetite for a while.

I'm hoping to keep the weight off and I'm going to start going to the gym more to help keep it off.

I can actually get into the size they are just not them. I've been wearing a pair of tracksuit pants for the past few days which are the same size. Being tracksuit pants though they have more give than jeans I guess but it shouldn't be too long until I can get into the jeans.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Dec 20 2008 05:25 AM

I've put on some weight. I got weighed at the gym not too long ago and I was up to 111.7 but the trainer said that those scales (which are new because the old ones broke) are about a kilo out so I've only really put on half a kilo.

I'm still walking a lot. This is helped by not having access to a car and having to catch public transport everywhere which usually means some walking both at the beginning and the end.

I've signed up to a new gym which opens in late January which is closer and has more stuff so I think I'm going to be more motivated. I've already worked out what classes I want to do and they've also got a pool.

Oops lioness. I just looked back at your last post. Considering that it was Christmas etc you haven't done too bad though.

I've lost about 2 kilos but the scales at the gym say I'm still the same. Their new scales I got weighed last month and they said 111.7 and now they say 110.3 but they're apparently about 1.5 to 2 kilo's out.

I weighed myself at the shopping centre though they've got scales you put a dollar into and then they tell you your height and weight. I'm 108.something. In stones its 17 and 2 pounds. I think the .something was 4 but I can't remember.

The fourth pair are the ones that I want to get back in to but still no luck. I think it's the style and my body shape as even though I've lost weight I can still only do up the bottom button and nothing further.

I still have chocolate and treats over the weekend but I find the secret is not to bring them into the house until the last moment As I said before, I don't want to lose much more weight, if I got to eight stone, I would be delighted

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Fri Jan 30 2009 01:20 AM

I bought a new pair of jeans from the op shop I work in. I'm not sure what you call them in other countries but it's a shop where people donate clothes, etc and then we sell them on to raise money for a charity.

These jeans fit perfectly and I'm pretty sure they're a size smaller than anything I've got in that brand for a while.

I've got another weigh and measure in a couple of weeks. I have a feeling it's going to be better than it was before. I'm melting at the moment (temperatures here have been 40 celcius + for about the last week) so I'm hoping that it's helping the weight loss as I'm walking most days basically because it's the only way I can get anywhere as we don't have a working car.

Suzie,

When walking in that heat, make sure you drink lots of water! You don't want to get dehydrated.

The weather finally settled down. It's now decent temperatures. In the 20's (celcius).

Way better than it was. But then that's Melbourne for you. Basically if you don't like the weather just wait 5 minutes. We're about the only place which has 4 seasons in 1 day.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Wed Feb 18 2009 04:39 AM

Both scales agreed today and I've put weight on. I'm up to 111.6.

I started doing a food diary but stopped for a day and then didn't start it agian. I'm going to start it again tomorrow so I can really see what I'm eating.

My problem is that I'm not all that active during the day as the shop (I work at an op shop - better known to the non-Aussies as a charity shop) has been pretty slow so I'm pretty much standing or sitting around all day.

I've just programmed into my phone to do a workout twice a week. I'm currently only doing once a week.

I've revised my goals again. I've decided I want to be in the 90's by July and in the 80's by Christmas. I ultimatley want to get down to about 60kg.

I'm fluttering around the eight and half stone mark at the moment. I know that I seemed to lose more weight when me and Mum went to the gym but there's no time any more - well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it It can be hard sometimes but I'm going to stick to it

My new gym opens on Wednesday. I've already worked out what classes I'm going to do I've just got to get them to set up a gym program for me.

Camped out at 188lbs. I'll probably gain a few more this weekend, as it's my sister's birthday and I'm not missing out on cake. Start again on Monday.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Feb 28 2009 05:54 PM

I get my program set up on 13th March for the gym.
I've already started 1 class. There's a few others I want to do but I'm going to see how I go with this one first.
My friend and her mum are also looking at setting up a walking group to do some of the walking races so I'll need to start training for that. But the first one's a relatively short one and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to do it in a decent amount of time if I start training myself now. I'm going to start by walking home from school (TAFE) at least once a week.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Feb 28 2009 11:54 PM

Hello to all. I too am trying to lose weight. We started something like "Biggest Loser" at my job. Everyone had to put in $10 and at the midway point if you have gained any or stayed the same weight you have to put in another $10. There aren't a whole lot of people in it so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. My main goal is to lose about 110-120 lbs. I have a ways to go. My short term goal right now is to get down to at least 200 if not lower than that by my wedding day in September. Well good luck to everyone in this "battle of the bulge."

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Wed Mar 04 2009 04:54 AM

I haven't started walking home from TAFE yet. I've been to the gym a few times though. I have a personal training session on Friday and my assessment and program on the 13th.

Some friends of mine have decided to start up a walking group to go in some of the walking races that are around. The first one we are aiming for is in May and is 4k's. So my new fitness goal is to walk 4k's without stopping. I'm not really fussed about the time but I'd prefer to be able to do it in under an hour.

I've set up tables on my computer where I can keep track of different things like what I weigh, how far I've walked and what excercise I've done each day.

I also started keeping a food diary which is currently in its last week but I think I might make another one up so I can continue to keep track of what I've eaten

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Fri Mar 06 2009 06:55 AM

I had an assessment with a personal trainer today. I'm down to 109 kilos. I didn't start doing any trainging because I need to get clearance from the specialist for it. So that she knows how hard she can push me.

Hi Folks, I hope I am not too late to join in? If so, let me know.
I have started to go to the gym with a friend after work twice a week. Last week (our first week of starting) we could only go once because of meetings at the end of the day.
In addition to needing to get fit, I have weight to lose, lots of it.

So, if I am not too late to join you in this venture, hi.

Still camping in the 180's. My sister came bouncing into mom's house yesterday to inform us that she'd joined a club. She looked at me and said "Oh, they'll be calling you too.". So I may try that to improve some more.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Tue Apr 28 2009 06:12 AM

I went to see my specialist yesterday and she gave me clearance for the gym so now I can start my personal training and also work a bit harder at the program I was given.

I stopped doing the class as my friend got a job so couldn't come with me. I was thinking about going back but I really wanted to do it twice a week but due to other commitments I can only do it once a week.

I got weighed at the hospital and I'm down to 107 point something and that was with jeans on. So I'm probably about 107 with a tracksuit which was what I was wearing for my last weighing.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Tue Apr 28 2009 07:40 AM

I've been checking through the old posts on this thread, everyone's doing really well.

Jane - Since this thread started you've lost about a stone.

I'm not sure what everyone else is down to but from what I can tell you've all either lost weight or at the very least you haven't gained any.

I looked at my goals when I started which were to lose 10% of my weight ant I've actually managed it. Plus a little extra.

I'm still looking at being back in double figures by my birthday in August. I'd prefer July as I'm looking at having a joint birthday party with my friend which I want a new dress for. I've got the pattern for it, I've just got to get it made.

http://www.voguepatterns.com/item/V8150.htm?search=8150&page=1 - I'm hoping this link works. This is the dress I want to wear for my party. I'll still be wearing size 20-22 but considering that it's probably a pretty clingy dress I don't mind.

In most clothes currently I'm basically between size 16 and 20(Au)

Has it really been February since I posted in here? Oh dear!!

Don't worry, my weight hasn't piled back on - not all of it anyway! Life has been very busy lately and I have been "snacking" over the weekends, as well as holidays.

Enough of the excuses At the moment I am eight stone and 12 pounds. Although I have put on roughly half a stone since the beginning of the year, it doesn't matter because I can easily lose it.

I want to focus on December now, lose a few pounds before Christmas. And I promise I will try and post in here every week!

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sun Aug 09 2009 08:29 PM

I'm up to 63kg, but I also know why. I've been snacking a lot and as it's winter I haven't had much of an opportunity to exercise. I'm trying to cut down on the snacking and at least get back to 60, where I'll still have my curves but not too much excess fat.

After losing 40 some pounds and going down to 80 pounds I have gained back ten so am pleased with that and won't try and put on any more than 5 more pounds.

Being this slim and short if I get too heavey my chronic back troubles start up again so I am avoiding doing that if I can help it.

My Doctor says I am in good shape so I am glad of that.
Means I don't have to run marathons.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Tue Sep 08 2009 06:31 AM

You're on the same diet as me lioness. The "I can't afford it diet"

Well my last goal didn't work. Not sure what I am now. Haven't weighed myself properly since last time I was at the hospital.

But I haven't done much in the way of exercise. I was too busy doing placement.

That said I've just started a 12 week program which I've actually extended to a 14 week program as that means it ends at New Year's.

In the following weeks I will be going to the gym at least once a week, hopefully more.

My main goals are to lose another 10% of my weight which will bring me down in to the 90's and be able to walk 5km/h for 10 minutes (this is actually what is on my program but I haven't quite got there yet.)

I haven't got access to scales anymore so probably don't know how I'm going to track my weight loss but I'll work something out.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Wed Dec 23 2009 08:19 AM

Oddly enough, I'm finding the holidays much easier on weight.

November, and NaNoWriMo, hit me. I think I had 50 cans of soft drink in a couple of weeks, as my 'energy food'. I also had lots of nibbles, and similar junk. Because of this, at the end of the school term, I weighed about 69.5kg.
I think that was what woke me up to having to actually actively lose weight. I put myself on a 'no junk food' diet, and tried to walk more places. Instead of catching the bus 10 minutes down the road, I walk for half an hour.

The result is that, in three weeks, I've gotten down to about 66kg. I'm aiming for about 60kg, 58 preferably. I'm dancing more, and eating less, and all together it's working quite well.

Just a tiny update that I am still keeping my weight down, and am just a shade under 9 stone. Tomorrow marks my seventh anniversary of my "healthy living" - in 2003 I was 13 stone and probably more. Although it is hard to cut down on "goodies", it is worth it laugh

I was really impressed when we met Jane, you look so slim.

As I am a diabetic I was sent to our diabetic centre where I had an appointment with the dietician who told me to lose 10% of my bodyweight. I lost some but still have about half a stone to go, I need to get a move on as I have an appointment with her again in a few weeks.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Thu Aug 26 2010 07:23 AM

I've gone up a fair bit since my last posting. Currently around 72kg, with a lot more extra fat than I'd like. Trying to get back into my schedule of going to the gym 3-4 times a week, however that's not working so well, with school and stuff.

I've been eating more junk, and exercising less, now that I'm driving. However, I've also put on muscle...Through going to the gym, I've built up my arm, leg, and core strength. I estimate that's at least a couple of kilos. There is a lot of extra fat though, so I'm going back on my no junk food thing, and I'm going to regulate my sleep in the hope that I won't be as tired and thus reluctant to go to the gym.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Fri Nov 26 2010 05:47 PM

Wow...nothing since August.

Well, I've gone up again, but in a good way.

I was 75kg for a while, with fat as well as muscle. I've lost a bit of the fat, so am now at 73kg.
More importantly, I guess, I'm happy with how I look in the mirror, and I will be wearing a bikini this wsummer laugh

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Mon Nov 29 2010 12:04 PM

Congratulations! I won't be looking at a bikini for a very long time due to procrastination and lack of motivation for exercise. I guess doing a little is better than nothing but it's not effective and my moral is pretty much shot.

71.5kg. Woohoo!

As a motivator for weight loss (aside from looking good), I've decided that if I can get down to 65kg, then I'll get my navel pierced. I've wanted it done for ages.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Dec 04 2010 12:07 PM

Can I join in this thread? I've been an onlooker for years now and have always admired you all for making such an effort to keep in shape. JaneMarple is an inspiration with losing so much weight and keeping it off for so long, I only hope I can get to that stage eventually.

So for the story so far:

I've been unhappy with my weight gain over the last 15 years. In that time 4 pregnancies, 3 of them cesareans, 2 house moves plus a lot of stress over unemployment, have all contributed to me 'letting myself go' a bit. I finally decided to do something about it last August and joined Weight Watchers. It's not a trendy diet, it's not one where you lose loads of weight in a matter of days, but as far as I can see it's a 'slow and steady' kind of thing which actually promotes eating sensibly and is sustainable in the long term.

So since August 6th I have lost a total of 12 kilos (26.45 lbs/1.89 stone) leaving me currently weighing *deep breath* 72kg. Needless to say I'm delighted to have lost so much, but unfortunately I have as much more to lose before I'll be back to something like my (once-)'regular' weight.

At the moment I'm stagnating a little, and with Christmas just around the corner I'd like to lose another 2 or 3 kilos.

I'll check in here regularly to see how you all are doing, and hopefully report a few more kilos gone for myself.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Thu Dec 09 2010 06:34 AM

OK It's not Saturday, but my usual 'weigh-in' day is Friday, and this week, exceptionnally, it's today, so I'm going to jump ahead of myself.

In the last two weeks, despite being in holiday mode and indulging in lots of sweets and treats during my prolonged stay in Dublin, I have managed to lose 800g (1.76 lbs),

My aim is to be under 70kg by christmas, so fingers crossed that I lose 1.5kg over the next few weeks!

My long term aim is to reach 60kg (9.4 stone), which is the weight at which I was stable all through my adult life until I started putting on the lbs. If I can lose more and get closer to 50kg over time I'd be delighted.

Hey Toni .. great minds! You're doing so well, I'm sure you'll hit your goals~ Part of the reason I've been so absent from here lately is that I've been on a major helath kick. I've lost 23kg in about four months just by doing a lot more exercise and cutting out the crap foodwise. It's been okay - I'm quite liking the exercise but wish I could do more of a variety - I'd love to do some gym classes but that's not much of an option around here smile
I am about where you are now .. at 72.5kg. I'm not really sure where I want to be as I've never been even this low as an adult LOL I was going to aim initially for about 64kg but am open to go a bit lower. We'll see how it goes. It's my 40th birthday in March and I'd like to be where I want to be by then. smile

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Thu Dec 09 2010 04:17 PM

Holy maloney, you have lost double what I did, in the same timespan!!! I knew I wasn't doing enough!!! Great going you!!!

Nah, It's great that you have found the system which works for you, and my bet is that you'll know when you hit where you're looking to get, even if it's a bit vague just where that is right now!

I have slowed down the WL (weight-loss) in the last four weeks, as I simply can't get outside to exercise anymore (I had been walking (rapidly) up to 80kms a week). It's now dark when I get in from work, the lonely lanes I walk along are much too spooky for a night-trip, and they're all muddy and flooded anyhow. My trusty stationery bike has also died a death (Did I wear it out?), but I will definitely replace it during the January sales, as I really want to get the weight down.

I loooooveed my evening half-walk/half-jog, and have missed it like crazy since winter has set in frown I loved even more feeling those leg muscles getting tougher, and the cardiovascular workout gives you a real buzz. Walking is definitely my 'sport'.

Have your prepared for the 'big spend' that all this weight loss means clothes-wise, Jill??? For now I'm living with tightening the belt buckles, but for the office it's getting a bit too 'bulky' with all the gathers around the waistline nowadays and I feel like I'm wearing bloomers half the time. I think I'll be splurging on a bit of clobber as well during the sales, but don't want to get too much in case I actually do lose that other 15 kilos!

Have you thought about a Wii-fit for yourself? It's not a gym, but it's a good workout all the same ... and I'm pretty sure junior will be delighted to help you learn the ropes with the other gaming options you can have with it wink

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Thu Dec 09 2010 05:26 PM

Yeah, but I had lots more to lose too. It seems to be slowing down a bit now. My weather is going the other way and it's getting too hot some afternoons to get out! LOL I try to have it done in the morning so if I miss the afternoon exercise it's not too bad.

80kms is huge! I only do 5ks a day. I should try and ramp it up.

Clotheswise I'm out of everything LOL I just bought a few jeans and a few shirts to get me through. I'm lucky that I can get by without needing any more than that. Belts are our friends LOL

There's no more :in case" about it .. you got this far, you can keep going! laugh
Posted by: Santana2002

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Fri Dec 10 2010 02:02 AM

I have to admit that I started out doing 5km a day, and built it up from there, ending by linking three routes to make a 12km round trip. I tried to do it each day, though often missed one or two. Like yourself I prefer getting it done in the morning, but it's not always possible. Our dog, Cookie, was delighted with all the extra walks she was getting, and copped on pretty fast that when I laced on the trainers she was getting to go out! Unfortunately she sees me lacing on my converse as well and hasn't yet spotted that they are not trainers ...

As for the "no more 'in case'" ... *oops* perhaps I shouldn't have said anything???

Nah, I just need to get my a*s in gear and keep focused. Unfortunately I don't have a milestone birthday to boost my motivation, so I'll just have to do it the hard way smile

I'm back up to 72.5kg. Hoping I can be at 70kg by Christmas, so that I don't feel particularly set back by Christmas food. I will be employing portion size control...heh. But there is so much food at Christmas lunch and dinner.

Ummm ... I have to 'fess that I've been less than a model student these last two weeks, and the scales can testify to that. I think I have gained 1-1.5 kg, but I'm owning up to it, I'm according myself tonight and tomorrow as well (we have guests, and a rich meal planned), but promise, from Sunday I'm back to the grindstone.

That brand spanking new exercise bike is also going to become my almost-best-friend (or at least accomplice) for the next few months until the evenings brighten up again, and by summer I'm hoping to have shed at least another 10 kilos, hopefully 15.

Fingers crossed ... for us all!

I might have to leave mine until tomorrow as well LOL NYE at the neighbours last night and ate too much and then today we're off to a friend's place for more nibblies. *sigh* will be like starting all over again getting back on track laugh

Depressing, isn't it, to see how easy it is to slip off the weight-losing track, and how tough it is getting back into the 'WL groove' frown

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Jan 01 2011 01:12 PM

I'm very proud of myself this holiday. I made it through without gaining! I didn't lose any, but the main goal was not to slip backwards.

Those of you who are on my facebook know I go riding (I have a mountain bike), and I'm saving up for a road bike. I'm getting very close to that goal, so hopefully I'll be passing the 20 mile-per-ride (mpr) soon. I've lost 45 pounds so far trying to get in shape for a 100 km (Full Century) bike ride next October.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Wed Jan 05 2011 04:07 PM

Well the "reasonably healthy eating" has started in earnest, and I am only 9 stone and 6 pounds, I probably put on about three pounds over Christmas - and I can assure you all, I thoroughly enjoyed all the "goodies" during the festive period! laugh The best thing to do with spare "goodies", whether they be biscuits, chocolates or whatever, is not to have them in the house. Have them in the shed/outhouse, so that you have to make the effort to get to them. It's easy to put them in a cupboard and say you won't touch them, but my willpower isn't that strong! grin
I have "treats" on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays - and I do my best not to go overboard on those days. So four days on a "diet" out of seven is reasonably good smile Here's to 2011, everyone, and lets hope we see "less" of each other during the year smile

Well done you, Silvermoonsong, and you too Jane for being so reasonable!

I've been better this week and have started exercising again, though I don't really enjoy the stationary bike that much. If it's working, I'm not knocking it!
Weigh-in on Friday to see what the Christmas damage is, and then head down for -5kg by St Valentine's Day

Woohoo indeed, lioness, that's great!!!

72.2kg for me yesterday, so up 1kg over the christmas> I'll soon knock him off and catch you up wink

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Jan 08 2011 06:52 PM

ooo nice one Lioness. I agree with Toni ... time to catch you up! laugh

At a stage in the week I did a sneaky step on them and it was dead on 70kg (11st) but my official day seems to put it a tiny bit over that (non digital scales- heard to be so accurate) but still I'll take it!

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Fri Jan 14 2011 10:19 AM

Yes! Getting back in the groove, and one hour cycling every night , has resulted in -1.6kg (3.5lbs) on the scales this week. I've knocked off what I gained in December and a little extra to boot, leaving me currently at 70,6kg.

Let's hope I can keep it up, though with Gallette des Rois at work today I'm already playing catch up.

It's a very rich, puff pastry cake, filled with an equally rich creamy frangipane filling, and in which a ceramic fève is placed. The person who gets the fève in their slice is named 'king' for the day (in memory of the three wise men). Normally eaten for the epiphany, the boss surprised us all by bringing in a dozen of them to share at work to get the year off to a good start. Along with a flute or two of bubbly ... suffice to say I've used up any surplus calories for the week, but it was deliciously worth it! grin

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Jan 15 2011 05:28 AM

Started to get into the "diet habit" with treats only at the weekend. Only lost a quarter of a pound since last week, but hoping for a good loss this week laugh
Posted by: Santana2002

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Jan 15 2011 06:31 AM

Any loss is good loss, Jane, eh? Lots of little bits put together over a long time adds up to success! Good luck for the week ahead!

I'm back on the rails again after yesterday's slide off course: 1 hour cycling last night, 50 minutes brisk walk first thing this morning (Cookie was delighted), and another cycling session planned for tonight ... after that an hour a day on the bike should be more than enough to wear me out!

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Fri Jan 21 2011 06:24 AM

Stayed the same this week, but then again those two Mars bars and the Magnum during the week probably didn't help. Usually I 'allow' myself relax on a Friday night, and have a treat on a Saturday afternoon, but this week I had more 'treat' days than non-treat ones, and it's impossible to trick the scales.

Ah well, head down for another week ...

How are you all getting along, copago, Lioness, Jane?

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Fri Jan 28 2011 11:00 AM

-600g (1.3lbs) this week, (leaving me at 70kg exactly) but I had hoped for more. I was aiming to knock off a whole kilo with 7.5 hours cycling and 2.5 hours fast walking. Oh well never mind ...

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Jan 29 2011 03:51 AM

I've lost one pound and a quarter in two weeks laugh Slow and steady wins the weight battle! xxx

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Fri Feb 25 2011 05:09 PM

-300g last week and -700g this week, that's a whole kilo gone (2.2lbs). I'm finally in the sixties and halfway to my target! Another ten-fifteen to go, and I'll be a happy Santana!

Hope you all are milling through the lbs too!

I have to admit that I went on a little spending spree though: A new zippy top, T shirt and sweat pants for the sporty days, a gorgeous top and puff dress for work, and a couple of other bits'n'bobs, I might even go looking at some sparkly necklaces and stuff tomorrow. It's such fun having a wide variety to choose from now!!!

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Feb 26 2011 03:55 AM

oh I haven't updated here for a while shocked
The trip to America didn't do me any favours LOL We were very active over there but the food was a bit hard to be good for so while I stayed the same weight I'm just happy I didn't put any on.
Am down to 69kg though which I'm very happy about. I'm aiming for 64 (10st) but that'll be a while away.
I did buy a treadmill though as we went through nearly a week of extreme heat and then it rained for two days so couldn't get out for my walks. It won't arrive until next week bit will be good to have it here.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Feb 26 2011 06:58 AM

Just a little update, lost about 2 pounds in about a month. I think the problem is that I don't have the opportunity to exercise as much as I used to. But still content, limiting myself to my weekend treats smile

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sun Feb 27 2011 05:58 AM

Exercise really helps, doesn't it Jane? Once the lbs keep either coming off or simply staying off that's all that counts!

Great going Jill! Disneyland AND America, and you still managed not to put on any, I think that's a pretty good fix! Let me know how you find the treadmill, coz I really hate my stationery bike (though it does the job pretty well). I think my thighs in particular are now made of iron!!! Puping those pedals up and down really toughens them up!

I was wondering about a rowing machine, though it takes up a bit of space. It would work out the upper body, which is something I've neglected since I started this exercise lark. Walking and cycling really only concentrate on the butt and the legs (and the heart, obviously).

As we are both at the same weight now the competition gets tough, grin
Which of us is going to hit that magical 65/64kg first??? I'm going so slowly at it now that I'm not laying any bets on getting there fast! tongue

That's fantastic, Lioness! You should be so proud of yourself!
I weighed in this morning at 68kg. It's still coming off but slowly laugh (It won't happen overnight but it will happen LOL)

Got the treadmill up and running, Toni, but it's only been a few days. I am loving having it there and if I want to just run for a bit I can. I'm trying to run more and am finding it challenging but it is certainly working and I'm drenched by the time I finish laugh

Hehe at least you can see that you're using up all that stored energy!!! No excuses for not working out now that you have the treadmill, you'll be melting away!

Great news for you too, Lioness!!! Even better that you feel great, makes it all worthwhile doesn't it? I am so looking forward to reaching my target ... though it's definitely a long way off! Even halfway there and I'm feeling better than I have in years, and kicking myself for not taking control much sooner :s

-1.6kg (leaving me at 67.3kg) this week, it looks like I've really broken through that plateau which has been going on since December! Here's to the forthcoming week when I hope to keep on track!

Excellent! That's fantastic, Toni laugh
My scales aren't so accurate but I'm somewhere in between 67-68. How far did you want to go? I was thinking around the 64 mark. i'm 5foot3 and that puts me at the higher end of the healthy scale.
You saw that BEFORE photo that I put on facebook? I was wearing a blue shirt? Had a couple comments that I was looking 'gaunt'! It wasn't a great pic I know but I thought I am looking good LOL It has to be better than having double chins!! wink

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Mar 12 2011 03:42 PM

You are so nearly at your ideal weight, copago! Those last few kilos are reputedly the most difficult to lose, though with your new 'toy' and your perseverance I'm certain you'll get there soon enough!

Mesuring in at a humble 5-foot-nothing, my healthy range is between 43kg (Hah! Not in your wildest dreams will I ever weigh so little) and 58kg, but if I can get back even to 60kg I'll be satisfied. It's the weight at which I was stable as a young adult before greed, 4 pregnancies and an increasingly sedentary life happened!

I still have a good way to go, and I expect it will take me (being realistic) until at least the end of the summer (September/October) to get there, but slow and steady is the way to go. At present I'm even happy just not to put back on what I've lost already when I'm finding it hard to stick to my calorie quota for the day and not snack or pig out.

As for your picture, the difference is just amazing, and I had to do a double check to make sure it was YOU I was looking at! I think you look great but I also think you are right not to try lose too much more. You'd definitely be pretty skeletal if you did! I also can't get over how much more you and Conor ressemble each other! It's nearly scary to see a mini-you looking over your shoulder!!!

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Fri Mar 25 2011 06:20 AM

I missed my 'official' weigh-ins last week and this, but have just hopped off the scales at home. It's showing 66.9kg, so hopefully there isn't too much difference between it and the official one!

Head down for the next week!
Posted by: Santana2002

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Fri Apr 08 2011 05:27 AM

I've missed three 'official' weigh-ins, so didn't really know what to expect today. It wasn't too bad I guess, I weighed-in at 65.9kg (145lbs/10.4 stone), so that's another kilo off and a total of 17.8kg (2.8 stone/39.24lbs) gone since August 2010. It's slow but I'll get down to the fifties eventually. Even a modest 59kg would be good.

Hope you all are keeping up the good work and keeping off the lbs!

That would be pretty much an ideal weight Jane, for you?

Nice going, Toni! I'm about the same .. was 66kg last weekend and stood on them today and it's flirting around 65kg. I worked it all out to 32% of me is gone grin It's really slowed up the last couple months but I am not so stringent on my eating which would explain a few things grin
God I'm so glad that I did it and am sort of ashamed it took so long. Funny thing is that since I did "the shave" - people who haven't seen me for a while think I'm sick! oops.

Yes, if I got to nine stone - or, even better, eight and a half (so I had some weight to "play with" during Christmas, Easter etc) it would suit me fine smile But weight isn't a issue with me any more, I just make sure I don't eat too many "goodies".
Posted by: Santana2002

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Fri Apr 15 2011 09:40 AM

I've been trying out your technique recently, Jane: easing up and having a (few) goodies over the weekend. It keeps me from feeling frustrated at always having to refuse the nice 'naughties', and I get straight back to work on the Monday morning.

The lbs are still coming off, albeit very slowly. Down 600g (1.3 lbs) this week, to 65.3 kg(143.9lbs/10.2 stone) but as I'm way more relaxed over what I eat I'm happy with that.

I know just what you mean about regretting not starting to take control of things sooner, copago! Personally speaking I know I wasn't in the right frame of mind before now to stick to it for long enough, but I just wish that I had found that motivation sooner ... Never mind, the main thing is that we got there in the end, eh?

Take it slow and steady, rayven!!! No reason why you should't get there either!

yep! laugh

My scales are showing 65kg today. It is taking a while for my brain to catch up with all this .. I keep thinking that the scales must be wrong or that the makers of the clothes are making them bigger for the sizes. smile

haha .. so in fashion that I can't budge from it wink Still hovering around 65kg mark .. it flirts with the 64s but that's cool, while I'm not eating many 'bad' foods I am not as diligent as I have been and am eating around my maintaince calories. I've started the couch to 5k programme now too. I can walk fast for a long time but I find running hard so I'm doing this so push me that bit more.

Congrats Lioness! That's wonderful laugh

I've put back on a little, and am just over 65kg again, but I'll soon get back on track.

64.5 kg today with shoes, so that brings me back to my weight on 22 April (which was without shoes). Roll on the next week or two to see a real loss again.

You all sticking to your plans, girls?

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Fri May 06 2011 02:20 PM

I'm trying. When we went to New Orleans, we ate a bunch but we also walked a lot. Now that we're back to routine I'm eating more sweets and not walking as much. I'll try harder now that it's actually gotten warm here.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat May 07 2011 05:05 AM

Good on you, Rayven laugh I got sick of it being so hot here I got a treadmill lol The weather isn't too bad at the moment that I'm getting out and about more but it's great to have it for early/late/hot/cold/mozzie kind of days that it's easier to stay in that go out!

The couch to five k is a programme that over 9 weeks will have you running 5kms, Toni. It's just gradually builds up your runs in intervals - the first week is running one minute with 1.5 minute walks in between. I've just finished week two and so far so good. I got a ipod app that breaks into your music to tell you when to run or walk and so on. Still somewhere between 64 and 65 kg but I'm really trying to to tone up so I'm hoping that I am burning fat but building muscle too. That's the plan anyway!! lmao
Posted by: Santana2002

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat May 14 2011 06:11 AM

Sounds great, Jill! I think I'll Google that programme later on today and see if I can't do something similar!

I'm back hiking through the fields again, so am hoping to burn off another 2 kilos at least before the end of the month, when my family will be over. I'm still hovering around the 64kg, but have been having KFC and Mc Donald's a bit too often recently to expect any better.

Perseverance is the key, rayven! I'm sure you'll get back into the swing now that you're back to your usual routine!
Posted by: Copago

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sun May 22 2011 02:38 AM

If you have an iphone or similar there's heaps of apps you can get. Dare I say I actually enjoy the programme?? (whodathunkit? lol) Although in a couple of weeks it's starts being 25 minutes nonstop running which will be a challenge.

Scales are showing 63kg!! We've been shearing the last couple weeks and it's just full on so all that extra movement obvioulsy helped me plus I was the cook as well so kept it mostly healthy and still did my exercise every day. Not sure if I was my life to be that busy all the time but it helped. smile
SO am now under ten stone ... I remember being that big in first form at high school. That's crazy!!

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Wed May 25 2011 04:54 AM

You *enjoy* all that running and getting sweaty and dusty??? Hmmm, sometimes I wonder about you, really I do! grin

OK so I had a read up on the couch to 5K programme, and I'm tired just thinking about it, ... but it does have it's merits, and I think I may just do something about it. I'll do all the prep-reading up work for a week or two, just to get into the right mindset, then when I feel ready for the challenge I'll jump in! Do you do all yoru running on the treadmill, Jill? I'm half afraid that if I got one it'd just gather dust a lot of the time. As it is, I have to force myself to use my stationary bike (so I 'save it up' for bad weather days, hihi). The thoughts of getting the benefits of an hour long speed walk in just a half an hour of running is very tempting ... I'll let you know if I start!

In the meantime I'm still plugging away at maintaining my 63-64kg. It's not so easy having houseguests, but by the end of next week I should be back to my usual routine. Then there's just my son's birthday and a weekend away in Marseille ... I'll more than certainly indulge a bit for both occasions wink

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Thu May 26 2011 02:49 AM

I'm still around 9 and a half stone, which is fine at the moment. Once some holidays are out of the way, I shall try and get into diet-mode again. The main annoyance is that me and Mum don't attend a gym any more, which helped a lot with my weight loss, and I have no opportunity to do any gentle exercise.

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sun Jun 05 2011 12:18 PM

As I celebrated when I lost a few inches I must be consistent and report the progress since. Ideally I'd have a 32 waist, whatever weight goes with it as I do weightlifting so have to include the muscle. But 10 stone is probably ideal. I got down to 34 and 10 1/2 or so but after maybe a year put the whole lot back and have now pretty well stuck at 11-3. Not ideal by any means but the steps required to lose the rest would be virtually banning any food between meals, and as I don't drink or smoke may hold out for a few months to drop maybe half a stone but could never keep it up for life and keep it off. The price to pay doesn't seem worth the result for the final amount to me.
Posted by: JaneMarple

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Tue Jun 14 2011 03:48 AM

And after a really good holiday, I only put on half a pound in two weeks, which makes me 9 stone and 8 pounds. Hopefully I will lose a few more pounds in the coming weeks! smile

It must have been a really good holiday, Jane laugh SOunds like you had a great time.
Sorry for being absent lately frown Sitting around 62kg here and feeling great. laugh
I've kept up with the running programme and finish it off next week. At the moment I'm on 28mins of running (plus warm up cool down walks) and I won't say it's easy but I get through it pretty well. I'ev alredy found another app that will cover me for afterwards .. it's a 10k one. *eeek* Haven't been doing any other exercise the last coupel weeks. We've had the floors done in the house so had to move the furiture out and then back in .. that will do for my weights I think!!

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sun Jul 10 2011 02:25 AM

OK so it's been well over a month since I posted here. The best I can say for that month is that I didn't gain any weight, then again I only lost 100g, so nothing much to be proud of there. I am fully aware that it's because I was less stringent about 'treat' foods like wine and snacks, and did practically no exercise, so I didn't expect any better.

The next few weeks here are pretty calm, no more visitors, parties or invitations, so I should get back into the swing of things.

I'm back walking, and have integrated day 1 of the couch to 5K programme into my routine this morning. I hope I'll have the stamina to get to the end of the programme and build up to a half an hour, even if it takes a little longer than the programme suggests it will. Motivation is high as a result of a potentially fatal incident recently which really brought home to me just how much I want to face my future in the best of shape possible and in good health! Now doesn't that sound all high-fallutin and noble??? hehe ...

Hope you are all keeping on target!!!

Cool, how's the programme going, Santanna? I finished mine but haven't started on the 10k one yet. The last month has been so out of whack that it's been hard to keep a regular routine happening. smile

I had a bout of kidney stones this week which didn't do me any favours. When they say it's more painful than childbirth they aren't kidding. SO having three days in hospital and on a clear fluid diet (I will never eat beef broth again .. seriously, 3 lunch and dinner I could handle but when they served it up for brekkie I was nearly sick) I thought would show up nicely but there was no change on the scales. How does that work?? lol

Re: Saturday Weigh-In Part 2! - Sat Aug 13 2011 04:11 PM

I'm afraid to say that I didn't get far into the C25K programme, I got hit with a dose of hip bursitis (inflammation), which flares up every time I run for longer than 3 or 4 minutes (x 3 or 4 repetitions) during the session. I've also been having trouble with my feet (verrucas, ugh), and as a result I spend one week out of two barely able to hobble along ...

So sorry to read that you've had kidney stones! What a horrible experience! When my husband went through the same thing I was in a muck-sweat just seeing the agony he was going through!

Shame it didn't knock off a kilo or so for you, though, isn't it? At least then you would have had some benefit from the crisis! I reckon you must be pretty much at an ideal weight, though, if even that didn't have an impact on your total.

Me? I've finally hit -20kg exactly, leaving me at 63.7 kg. Another 4.7kg to go and I can 'stabilise'. I'm really looking forward to being 'off' the diet, but fully intend to stick to my new habits and definitely continue to be lots more active. I'm certain that it was the 'couch potato' lifestyle which contributed mostly to my weight gain in the first place.

I really should post in this thread more laugh I'm around the nine and a half stone mark, I'm not sticking to the "diet" as much as I used to, but still content with my weight. I'd love to lose half a stone or so for the heavy Christmas period though! laugh
Today is always a special day for me. All of the members of Funtrivia have watched my weight loss over the past eight years. Today marks the eighth anniversary of my "reasonably healthy living" regime. I'm about 4 stone lighter than I was eight years ago - slow and steady wins the race smilee

Jane well done in maintaining your weight loss. I saw the 'fat' photo on Facebook and was hoping that it was your before photo and not a massive weight gain since I met you last year. smile

Such a great change, Jane. You were one of my inspirations when I started this so a big thank you to you.

Nothing has changed here . .still the same. Had a week or so away and didn't always make the healthiest food choices but was back to normal when I got home.
On the trip I did go to a boot camp with my brother early one morning where you just go through exercises with a group and a trainer egging you on. I thought I was pretty much half fit these days and I did well and kept up no worries. But my god I could hardly move the next day ... must have been muscles I haven't gotten around to touching!! lol

You still discovering those type of muscles, Jill? grin Me too, when I do stuff like kayaking for several hours I suddenly realise just how many muscle groups I blithely ignore ...

Jane, like Jill you were one of my primary inspirations to get on a sensible eating plan, and thanks to you I did it the right way: no fad diet, or unrealistic goals, just a slow and steady pace making changes that are easy(ish) to assimilate into every day life, and getting more active. Your continued maintenance of the 'new you' is equally motivating as it proves that with a little self-control I too can avoid the yo-yo dieting syndrome. I'm glad to see you keep posting updates here from time to time, it reminds me to remain always vigilant and to get back on the straight and narrow after I let things slip for a bit.
