We at TVC are really psyched to finally have reached the top of the mountain. I had actually thought we finished just short of the Mensans. When I think about all of the work that we've done to get here, it's so gratifying. I just love the people on this team, and it's the people who make this so special. Thanks for everything you do. All I can say is this: I am making some changes to some of our games, and the way that data is served from FunTrivia.
It will indeed be interesting to see what happens to scores over the next couple of months.

Wesley has explained it thoroughly on the relevant thread. In brief, each team is given a ranking based on their performance during the month on the ten designated games, and the total for the ten games is used to rank the teams. Results are reported each month, as well as cumulatively for the completed portion of the year. At the end of the year, the teams are given their final rankings for the entire twelve months.

The competition began last year. Wesley explains it in the thread linked below. There you can also see how the year progresses. What you haven't seen yet this year is a Quarterly year-to-date totaling and reranking of up to that date's progress.

On the menu, Team opens a list you can scroll down to find Stats and Ranks (Listed under All Teams). This then lets you choose either this month's ranks or the previous one.

The lastmonth.cfm shows last month's results. I was trying to show where to look to track current performance if you are trying to make improvements in TotY status. For that purpose, the Info and Ranks Table is still the place to follow day by day. I thought the Mixed addition was a done deal, mea culpa. Wasn't there to be another addition too? Obscurity, Expert, FMI or Word Wizard which were awaiting a team value to be developed at some point?
I'm gonna have to stop saying thank you Wesley if you keep punishing the Noggins for my faux pas. But, until then, Thank you Wesley for the tabulation fabrication. or in the words of Karl Childers, "mmhmm, mmhmm".

Do you throw it around inside your house when you play with it? Did it come with a pedigree? Is it sedimentary or metamorphic? Have you had it 'fixed'? Do you need a license/permit for it? Have you built it its own little rock garden? Have you bought it any concrete toys to play with? Do you plan to get the Roll that goes with it? Have you more rocks in your head to keep it company? Does it have its own chair? Bed? Have you bought any accessory outfits for it to wear? Have you painted a big C on it so it can be called crock? There's the game to play with it: the C on its chest, a big red cape tied around its neck and you throw it across the room! "Look up in the sky, it's Supercrock!" (as the cat that owns you runs out of the room.)

dippo, year to date is always only done on even months (Feb, Apr, Jun, Aug, Oct, Dec). Otherwise movement in the tables is just too small.

This thread is where you see the latest Team of the Year standings when WesleyCrusher posts them. I believe there is a statement somewhere earlier that it only happens every two months, since the incremental changes are too small to be worthwhile posting every month.

There was another thread that had these rankings posted. It was for last year's results. WC started a new thread for this year's data so we wouldn't be having to go to page 22 or 47 to find the latest results. Perhaps the thread title should include the year? Oh, it does! So if you want to see stats for 2011, you have to find the other thread.

You've not been in the end of May results in any way. The site just doesn't have any of your scores.

You had a monthly average of just over 850 for the first four months, so I'll credit you with an 800.00 score for May if we can't find anything more accurate. It's probably a bit less than you'd otherwise have achieved, but for fairness, I need to rather underestimate than overshoot.

Rossian - good news. I have been able to fully reconstruct your scores by checking which numbers were missing from the small teams table. The only one I couldn't reliably get that way was thankfully on the site itself - 106th in TvT.
That puts you at 844.86 points which I'll be adding to the annual total.

Thanks, Wes. I know that we don't always have enough players for TvT, but we normally score in the other qualifying games. Maybe Terry will be able to work out what went wrong, and it isn't that important in the grand scheme of things, but I don't want you to have to do this every month!

I do not want global challenge to be a team game. It is designed as a personal goal oriented game that is a long haul, and against everyone. I think it should be left the way it is, and not become another team game.

The Wild Mutant Noggins are working on the premise that there's a worm hole at the list bottom where all the pressure of the teams above will increase our density and force us through to the other side which would have to be the list top, right?

I don't usually do the cumulatives on odd-numbered months. They are far more manual work than the single month standings (which I have 90% automated) and there isn't that much movement on the table in just one month.
I don't think there will be any major moves except that about everyone will go up one place due to the disbanding of The Vicious Circle.

By my very quick check of the two lists next to each other, in the top 15, only the two pairs Devil's Advocates / Animal Farm and Music Moguls / Recycled Virgins have traded places. Everything else remains sorted.

My team, Trivia Bubbles, is in a creditable position overall, considering October was a bad month with two of us on holiday at different times. Since we're lucky to scrape six players most days, that had a major impact for the month. Thanks for the stats, Wes - as interesting as ever.

Just a suggestion, but could posters actually mention their team name rather than just saying 'we'? It saves having to check profiles to see who you are talking about.
I keep looking for a team called 'We', and I've added it to my list of possible names for the future, but they don't appear on the list at the moment.

You'll have to mount them into your quiz templates yourself, but if you're short on those, I have a few dozen lying around that you could use.

As the new leader of the ClassicalMusic/Mensan team, it falls on me to accept this great honour on behalf of the whole team and for Dr Bob who formed the team & brought us all together. He sure can pick 'em!
We're very proud to be the Team of the Year on the best trivia site in the world and hope that all the other teams will give us a good fight if we want to hold on to the title in 2013. I'm sure they will.
Congratulations to all the teams who won a virtual trophy, especially the Llamas who made us work for the top spot right to the very end.

Wes: you're amazing for all the hard work you do (not just for this, but for editing and advice and fun text for the challenges and also because you're way smarter than me but still a nicer/more tactful person. I admire you (and no, I'm not sucking up as it's unlikely I'll be writing any quizzes in your categories anytime soon lol).
Merely appreciation for what you (and all the staff here) do.
Flopsy: You're probably right on the "beware" part lol. Your team is formidable and there is no hope for my personal contributions to count, as I've been told I couldn't win even a under-6 watermelon seed-spitting contest (hangs head in shame). Am particularly looking forward to more picture posts from you in 2013 though, as they have all been lovely in the past.
Anyway, "good going" to ALL the teams! Many have made incredible moves up the ladder, but the main thing is that folks have fun and enjoy the company of their team and friendliness between their competitors. I think the Christmas messages between teams showed that spirit.
Not that I don't LOVE my team, but I converse with more folks (in personal messages) from OTHER teams. They are each fabulous in their own ways. Sure, it's nice that our team won for a change, but I wish everyone lots of laughter and love for 2013. If you have THOSE two items, you can get through pretty much EVERYthing : )))

I joined CM/M a year ago and have found it a warm and caring community of trivia friends, who, nevertheless, were able to brook a little controversy from yours truly - and more than once! There's more to us than just a bunch of trivia nuts and bolts. Make no mistake about it: I am a small cog in this machine! I'm renewing my option for another year.
That said, I'd like to pay tribute to my former team (twice over in two, two year stints), the Joliettes. I remember encouraging this group of overcommitted, exceptional people to pick a month and trounce the opposition. They did, more than once. But, like myself, my former teammates just can't maintain that level of participation year-round.
So there you have it - many friendships formed from what Terry hath wrought, with a healthy respect for all our diversity.
