Guidelines for Quiz Creation

Important: ALL of the following sets of guidelines are relevant for the category you would like to submit to. Please read all of them carefully and keep them in mind as you develop your quiz. Thanks!

The following sets of guidelines apply to quizzes created in Common Bond.

Guidelines for Common Bond

Introduction
Before starting please ensure your template has 'flash mode' disabled. 'HTML' is the only format permitted.
You must include in your introduction a hint what the common bond is without stating exactly what it is. If this is not in your introduction your quiz cannot be accepted.

For example your Common Bond might be a TV program, movie or celebrity, so you would say your Common Bond relates to 'entertainment'. That way no one knows exactly what the Common Bond is, but gives people an idea of what they are looking for.

Some examples include:
You cannot say it is a movie or a TV program, but you should say it is in the field of entertainment.
You cannot say it is an author, politician, etc., but you should say it is a famous person.
You cannot say it is a city, but you should say it is in the field of geography.
You cannot say it is an invention but you should say it is in the field of science and technology.

In other words don't make it too detailed--just enough to give the player a little bit of an idea.

Questions 1-9
A true mix of questions from different topics is required, not just from entertainment fields such as movies, music or television.

None of the answers to Qs 1-9 can be in the actual common bond (Q10). For example, if "Star Wars" is your common bond (Q10), neither the word "star" nor "war/s" may be an answer for Qs 1-9.

Please be advised: Quizzes may be rejected if the questions are repetitive of existing ones, too simplistic or generally lacking original material. Interesting information is required in every question in this category.

Question 10 must be a Fill in the Blank with the normal guidelines applied. Try to keep answers to no more than 4-5 words and NO punctuation. If guidelines are not followed, the quiz cannot be accepted. The info in Q10 must also explain how each answer (1-9) relates to the common bond

WARNING: Please think carefully about your answer to Question 10 and if it meets the FITB guidelines. If it is not accepted, then the time you have spent crafting your quiz may be wasted. Thanks and have fun.

NOTE Before starting on the quiz, all authors should ensure that Fill in the Blank is an option open to them. If not, they cannot submit a Common Bond quiz.

Guidelines for General

If you want to get specific with a single topic you would be better finding a specific category. The General category is not to be used because you can't find the correct one. If you are unsure, select a FunTrivia category that is at least close to the topic of your quiz. Exceptions are Alphabetics, By the Numbers, Colors, Common Bond, Country Specific (non Geography), Gems/Birthstones, Family Life, Names, Superstitions/Magic, Thematic Fun, True or False, Urban Legends, and World Records, which are all located within the General category.

    IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
  • Most questions should be multiple choice with seven in a ten question quiz.
  • All questions should have 2-3 factual sentences in the "interesting information" sections.
  • Questions on hair color, body height, weight and the like are not accepted in new quizzes.
  • Questions must be able to stand on their own and must not refer back to previous questions or the introduction (except in Common Bond quizzes).
  • Be sure that your questions are not date dependent. That is when an answer may be different in the future.
  • Fill-in-the-blank answers must be brief, contain no punctuation and should be relatively easy to spell.
