The Crazy Horse Memorial is the largest PRIVATELY funded work of its kind in the US. It has received no governmental funds of any kind.

There are 2 night blasts each year, the first on June 26 to celebrate the birthday of Ruth Ziolkowski (wife of Korcak the late desiger & Sculptor) and the Battle of Little Big Horn (1876. The second night blast is on September 6th, to celebrate the dual anniversaries of the 1877 death of Crazy Horse and of the 1908 birth of sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski.
