Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Will Ferrell appeared in every skit as the host, Alex Trebek. What other "SNL" cast member appeared in every "Celebrity Jeopardy!" skit?

Answer: Darrell Hammond

Darrell played the role of Sean Connery in the first skit, which aired on the December 7, 1996 show. In the next two skits, he played Phil Donahue, and then John Travolta, and after that he played Sean Connery for every skit until the very last one on the May 18, 2002 show.
2. Another funny part of the skits were the categories, which became more ridiculously easy in later skits. However, the categories in early sketches somewhat resembled actual "Jeopardy!" categories. Which actual "Jeopardy!" category appeared in every parody?

Answer: Potent Potables

In the first three sketches, it was usually near the middle of the board. However, from the fourth skit (Sean Connery, Minnie Driver, and Jeff Goldblum) on, "Potent Potables" was always the first category on the board.
3. In the skit with Sean Connery, Hilary Swank, and Keanu Reeves, as Alex announces the categories, he notices that Sean Connery has placed a piece of paper on the board that reads "Things Trebek Sucks". Alex then rips the paper off the board to reveal what category?

Answer: Potpourri

Alex Trebek: "Here are the categories for 'Double Jeopardy!'. They are: 'Potent Potables', 'Foreign Flicks', 'Things Trebek Sucks', wait, [Connery starts laughing] all right, [he rips the piece of paper off the board] let's continue: 'Potpourri', 'Hot or Cold', 'What Ears Do', 'Is This A Hat', that's where I name an object and you say whether or not it is a hat. And finally, 'Colors That End With 'Urple'."
4. In the category "Famous Titles", Tom Cruise had to name the title of what TV show in his audio daily double?

Answer: "Batman"

He actually responds with "What is 'M*A*S*H*'?", to which Sean Connery then responds with "What is 'After M*A*S*H*', the one with Jamie Farr", and Adam Sandler then begins to sing "The Chanukah Song", so Alex decides to end the round and proceed to "Final Jeopardy!".
5. Complete this line spoken by Alex Trebek: "We'll start with you, Mr. Cage, you wrote, and..."

Answer: your podium is gone

Other weird things Nicolas Cage, played by Jimmy Fallon, did in this skit were have 8 dollars at the beginning of the round, and just say "Who, why, where?" when asked to select a category.
6. What was Jeff Goldblum's response to the "Final Jeopardy!" category 'Letters of the Alphabet'?

Answer: the number 2

Trebek: "Let's go to Jeff Goldblum, who appears to still be doing Tai Chi. Let's see what your answer was: [screen reveals a big number 2] The number 2."
Goldblum: "Ah-ha, ah-ha, ah-ha! The letter 2, my friend!"
Trebek: "No, 2 is a number!"
Goldblum: "I, uh, I can't read or write."
Trebek: "Good for you."
7. In the game with Sean Connery, Tom Cruise, and Adam Sandler, there was a category called "The Number Ten". Alex Trebek clearly states, "In this category, the correct response to every question is 10. When I stop talking, just say 10. OK, let's give it a shot." What was the clue that was revealed from that category?

Answer: This is how many fingers you have.

Alex Trebek: "This is how many fingers you have. Tom Cruise?"
Tom Cruise: "5." [buzzer sounds]
Alex Trebek: "No! Adam Sandler?"
Adam Sandler: "Yeah, this one time, I was with some friends on a boat, and this guy on the boat was like, 'Come to the back of the boat!'" [he runs out of time]
Alex Trebek: "Time is up. The answer was 10. You have 10 fingers."
Sean Connery: "I'll show you a finger Trebek."
8. How many times did Norm MacDonald appear in the "Celebrity Jeopardy!" skits as Burt Reynolds from 1996 to 1999?

Answer: 4

He was in all of the first three, with Sean Connery & Jerry Lewis, Phil Donahue & Marlon Brando, and John Travolta & Michael Keaton, while he was still a regular cast member. Also, on the October 23, 1999 show, when he was the guest host, he once again played Burt Reynolds (or Turd Ferguson) who played against Connery and French Stewart.
9. In the last skit, a rock & roll edition, one of the celebrities portrayed is Dave Matthews, done by none other than Jimmy Fallon. What DMB song does he begin to sing when called upon to give an answer?

Answer: "Ants Marching"

He simply says "I did it, guilty as charged" when Trebek asks him if he rang in, but he goes all out, guitar and everything, when asked to give an answer to the clue "Of Simon and Garfunkel, the one that is not Garfunkel".
10. Besides Winona Ryder, the guest host who played Bjork, what non-'SNL' cast member appeared in the last skit, which mocked Dave Matthews, Bjork, and Sean Connery?

Answer: Alex Trebek

As they are getting ready for "Final Jeopardy!", the real Alex Trebek enters and notes that all the celebrities did not know the answers to any of the questions. Sean Connery then makes fun of the real Trebek as well as the one played by Will Ferrell.
