Her second husband, Joseph, died on a British prison ship. Then, her third husband died a few years after the war due to the conditions on the same prison ship. All of the other wars mentioned occurred after she had died.

According to legend, George Washington asked her to make the flag. Many people believe this is true but some believe it is false. It is a mystery in history.
