Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. We all know that Mack Bolan is the Executioner, and that he's fought evil through well over 200 books in the series. Does anyone remember what his first target was, in book number 1?

Answer: Triangle Loan Company

The Triangle Loan Company was Bolan's first target in 'War Against The Mafia'. The loan company was a front for the Mob and had destroyed his family. Sam Bolan had borrowed money and couldn't pay it back. Sister Cindy was forced into prostitution because of it.

When the father found out, he shot his daughter, wife and himself. Bolan came back from Vietnam and decided to avenge his family.
2. In the first 35 books or so his war was targeted against only one Enemy. What was it?

Answer: The Mafia

The series started as a simple war against the Mafia. It continued as such until 1980, when creator Don Pendleton decided to expand Bolan's war to Terrorism and whatever needed to be addressed.
3. Who is Bolan's chief friend in Government? This man has stuck by him since the beginning and tried to protect him, except for one time in Book Nine where he briefly joined the effort to stop Bolan. A move he regretted, for it nearly cost Bolan and Himself their lives. What was this man's name?

Answer: Hal Brognola

Hal Brognola is as much a fixture of an Executioner novel as Bolan himself. He showed up for the first time in the second or third book and is still there today.
4. Mack Bolan fell truly in love only a very few times. The first time was a short one, but it was enough for him to entrust his only living relative, his little brother, to her. What was her name?

Answer: Valentina Quarrente

Val Quarrente was Bolan's love and the caretaker of his little brother. She first met him when he was running from the police in the first book, hiding him for a few hours and cleaning his wounds. They spent a night together and a bond formed between them.

She was as pure as he was dirty, yet she loved him anyway. Val eventually marries an FBI agent who adopts Bolan's brother. All this with Bolan's blessing, of course.
5. In the Mafia world of these novels the high enforcers were a group named after a playing card. Bolan often impersonated one of these enforcers to create havoc within the organization. What the calling card that Bolan always gave under this guise?

Answer: Black Ace

The Black Aces were the most feared members of the enforcers, with enough authority to terminate even a boss on the spot if necessary. It was a perfect Persona for Mack Bolan to use to exterminate his foes.
6. We know who one of Bolan's friends in the government was from an earlier question. Bolan had one other, an undercover agent who was feeding him information for his personal war. Who was he?

Answer: Leo Turrin

Leo 'The Pussy' Turrin was the man responsible for the pimping of Bolan's teenage sister Cindy. He also turned out to be a federal agent. Bolan's respect for the law let him overcome his desire to kill Turrin and as time went along Turrin became one of Bolan's best friends.
7. On his way out of Las Vegas, Mack Bolan picked up a new friend. This friend had been a chopper pilot in Vietnam who had found himself jobless when he got back to the states. He met Bolan as a mob pilot tricked into flying him into Bermuda. He ended up as a willing cohort to Bolan's war and an ally lasting through over 200 books.

Answer: Jack Grimaldi

Jack Grimaldi, often referred to as G Force in later books, can fly any type of aircraft you can think of.
8. The mob in the books has a very strict way of dealing with enemies, it's usually done by doctors skilled in torture and in keeping a human body intact and screaming for days or even weeks. What is this process called?

Answer: Turkey Making

Turkey making was one of the most heinous things that was done by some of the mob bosses to people who cross them. It was also one of the things Bolan himself knew he faced if he was ever caught. Bolan had his own way of dealing with the turkeymakers. He didn't let them live long enough to do it to anyone else.
9. Mack Bolan's war against the Mafia ended after 38 books, the last six of which were a six day romp across the USA, courtesy of Hal Brognola and this lovely female special agent who grew to love Mack Bolan. What was her name?

Answer: April Rose

April Rose, a young fed with a personality as firey as her hair, was Bolan's companion and ran his Stony Man farm after he came back to government service. She was killed in Book 62, Day of Mourning, in an assault planned by a KGB traitor in the White House.
10. For the final question... According to the books, which war saw the beginning of Mack Bolan's military service?

Answer: Vietnam

According to the legend in the books Mack Bolan first saw action in Vietnam, though it doesn't gel with the average age given to him. His age has been fudged more than once, considering he's still fighting like he's in his 30's, despite the fact that he should be approaching seventy.
