According to the opening paragraph of Appendix F, the boundaries of the old kingdoms went as far inland as the Misty Mountains. After Aragorn regained the crown, he did not travel to Arnor for seventeen years, in 1436. In the unpublished, abandoned epilogue, Tolkien writes of an earlier journey by Aragorn into his northern realm, although there is no other reference in Tolkien's writings to this earlier journey.

2. Appendix B: What was the date of Sauron's fall and the Ring destroyed?

This is one of the very few direct allusions to Christianity that Tolkien included in LOTR. In some traditions, March 25 is the date that the angel Gabriel came down to the virgin Mary to tell her she would conceive the Messiah. He discuses this allusion is Letters of Tolkien, and comments on how most people miss it.

Tarostar was killed by the Easterlings, only to be avenged by his son.

Sam thinks that Frodo is dead, and that he must finish the task of destroying the Ring, and so he takes the Ring, Frodo's sword, Sting, and the Light of Earendil, given to Frodo by Galadriel. It is only after he has just started to get the courage to actually leave Frodo that Sam hears orcs coming and puts the Ring on to hide from them. He overhears one of the orcs saying that Frodo isn't really dead, only stunned. Sam then decides to rescue Frodo from the Tower.

26. Denethor appears rather unhappy to Pippin and Gandalf, something has obviously gone awry. We quickly discover that Denethor has indeed learnt of the death of his eldest son Boromir. How is it that he has come to such news?
