Cm - Cq Movies Trivia Questions

1. One of the most commented movies in 2021 was the American movie "CODA". What does CODA mean in this case?

From Quiz
CODA

Answer: It is an acronym describing a child of deaf adults

The film "CODA" focuses mainly on the Rossi family, with four people: the parents and two children, one of whom is the CODA (child of deaf adults), the only hearing family member; the parents and the other child are deaf. The word coda or CODA is an acronym, which refers to children of deaf adults. It specifically refers to a person who has deaf parents or guardians. The word "child" does not necessarily mean "young" but it does indicate a family relationship. CODA is pronounced as a word and not as individual letters and is used as a noun, referring to a person.

2. The film "CODA" begins with Ruby, her father Frank and her brother Leo working at the family business. What was this business that had her waking up very early in the morning?

From Quiz CODA (2021)

Answer: Fishing

Ruby, Frank and Leo Rossi work aboard the ship 'Angela Rose' trying to catch haddock to sell to a local fishing company. As they work the nets and separate the fish from the trash Ruby sings loudly. Their work is difficult and the small amount they receive prompts Leo to tell his father that they should sell directly to customers but he initially rejects the idea. Since Ruby works on the fishing boat early she does not get to change or shower before going to school prompting both another classmate and her mother to tell her that she stinks like fish.

3. This is only the second film directed by Charlie Chaplin in which he did not have a leading role. What part did he play in 'A Countess from Hong Kong'?

From Quiz A Countess from Hong Kong

Answer: Ship's steward

The size of his role can be judged by the fact that he is the last performer listed in the cast list at imdb - he makes two brief appearances as an elderly, slightly seasick, steward. This lack of acting involvement allowed him to focus on the directorial demands of the film, which some feel were poorly done (calling it outdated and stilted), while others praise the simplicity, and consider it an artistic choice. You can decide for yourself.

4. Which description best fits the film 'Coraline'?

From Quiz 'Coraline': Buttons for Eyes

Answer: Stop-motion fantasy

'Coraline' was filmed in a warehouse using stop-motion animation. The models were created using a 3D printer and some of the clothes were knitted by hand. Japanese illustrator Tadahiro Uesugi worked as a concept artist, and over 30 animators and digital designers took part.

6. What game did Roger and Carolyn daughters play in the beginning of the film?

From Quiz Conjuring, The

Answer: Hide and Clap

Christine was blindfolded by her sisters, Nancy and Cindy. They spun their sister around several times and then ran off to hide. Christine called out for her first clap and headed towards the front of the home. Her sister Cindy was sitting in front of her when she called for the second clap. Cindy did not clap and her mother told her she was a cheater. Christine eventually found her sister, Nancy, hiding in a closet.

Moreover her addiction was so bad that any money she did lay her hands on was immediately used to fuel her shopping habit.

From Quiz The Constant Gardener

Answer: Kenya

Justin Quayle, the movie's protagonist, is posted as a diplomat at the British High Commission in Nairobi, Kenya. The movie explores the Commission's various connections within Kenya. Alongside this perspective, the audience sees another aspect of Kenya through Tessa Quayle, Justin's wife, and ultimately these experiences connect. All of Miguel's family worked in the business and Miguel shined shoes to help the family. After Miguel's grandmother talked to him about the importance of spending time with family on the Day of the Dead, she had the idea that it was time for Miguel to start working in the workshop, but Miguel wasn't excited about the idea. The family's knowledge and affinity for the business was also apparent in the Land of the Dead. When the family members were looking for Miguel, Pepita used her powers to uncover Miguel's footprints. The first script for the film that eventually became 'A Countess from Hong Kong' was called 'Stowaway', and was written in the 1930s with Paulette Goddard, a regular Chaplin leading lady (and his wife from 1936 until 1942), intended to play the Countess, with Chaplin himself as the male lead. It was nearly 30 years later that the film finally reached the screen, with Sophia Loren in the title role. The movie was initially a financial failure, recovering only about half of its cost in the American market, but overseas revenue and the substantial amount earned by the score pushed it into profit. Those who haven't seen the movie may still be familiar with its theme, which became a hit for Petula Clarke as 'This is My Song'. The version finally used in the film did not include the lyrics, just the music.
