Thomas Heywood Sr. is his name. He owns the Minnesota Twins. He dies shortly after the beginning of the film. Thomas Sr. has a tape with a message, as part of his will, that states that he wants Billy to own the Twins. Thomas Sr. has specified that if Billy is still too young, Thomas Sr.'s aides are to run the business for Billy until Billy is old enough to do it himself.
