Answer: Centauri

Since the Centauri conquered the Narn homeworld, Sheridan thought it wise to train his pilots to fight the Centauri, in anticipation of Earth deciding to take up arms to stop the Centauri expansion. However, this act gets him in trouble with EarthGov since they are planning on signing a non-aggression treaty with the Centauri.

Answer: Who are you?

The Inquisitor came at the request of the Vorlons to interrogate Delenn. The purpose of the interrogation is to determine if Delenn is the correct person to lead in the upcoming Shadow War. Here is Delenn and Kosh's conversation -- Delenn: "Lennier said you were calling for me." Kosh: "Yes." Delenn: "Is there something wrong?" Kosh: "You, perhaps. We have sent for an inquisitor." Delenn: "An inquisitor? Why?" Kosh: "To be sure, about you. You will submit to his authority." Delenn: "How will I know who it is?" Kosh: "You will know, if you survive."

Delenn: "It is good to know what your people are thinking and saying about my people. .. And, uh, I often learn things about my own world before I'm told what 'I need to know and no more'."

Ever since B5 went online, there've been all kind of stories about the place. Strange lights, weird noises, people vanishing. Maintenance nicknamed it the B5 Triangle. Now they swear that something's making their scanners go haywire." Sheridan: "Anything to the stories?" Garibaldi: "Nah, every station has its phantoms."

So, tonight, we take you to the center of the controversy. An ISN crew and I recently spent 36 hours aboard Babylon 5, asking hard questions and, on occasion, get in a little over our heads. In the process of putting this report together, it didn't take us long to learn the most important rule of survival aboard Babylon 5: expect the unexpected."

Garibaldi is looking for Sheridan, and goes to C&C to find out where's he's gone. Corwin says that he has gone to Bay 13. Garibaldi says: "Bay 13? Nobody goes to bay 13." Corwin: "That's what the Commander tried to tell him." After Sheridan had his look around Bay 13, he goes to Kosh and says: "I found myself near bay 13 earlier and had look on your ship. It's an amazing piece of work. It made me realize just how much we still don't know about you, your culture, your people. And I was thinking, maybe we should spend some time together soon. Build some bridges, work toward a greater understanding of one another." Kosh: "Why?" Sheridan: "You tell me. You're the one who popped in my dream when I was in that alien ship a few weeks ago. It felt like.. I don't know...like you called me." Kosh: "I sought understanding. I listened to the song. Your thoughts became a song." Sheridan: "Has this ever happened before?" Kosh: "Once."

Sheridan explains to Ivanova that in order to raise more funds so that Babylon 5 can support itself, Earth has authorized the sale of B5 merchandise in a new souvenir shop. Ivanova comments: "Welcome to Babylon 5, the last best hope for a quick buck." Sheridan: "Commander." Ivanova: "But it's just demeaning. We're not just some...deep space franchise. This station is about something." I love that last line, since it is a not so subtle attack on the 'Star Trek' franchise and 'ST: Deep Space Nine' in particular, since both 'DS9' and 'B5' were on television at the same time. "Babylon 5" had to continually fight to exist, whereas 'DS9' floated along on the 'Star Trek' label.

The Narn-Centauri War is causing problems for everyone. The Narn are losing the war and G'Kar is desperately seeking aid from the other races. Londo is suffering because people are aware of his involvement in the war, and do not want to have anything to do with him or the Centauri. And to top it off, the Narn and Centauri have been starting fights on Babylon 5. G'Kar ends up taking a poison blade in the arm in order to establish his control over the Narns on the station. Londo agrees not to press charges against the Narn for the death of a Centauri troublemaker on the station.

Answer: To receive judgement

Hedronn says that Delenn was summoned to face judgement for her actions: "You were told to wait before taking this action. Before becoming...alien to us. You've been away from us for too long, Delenn. Your contact with the humans has changed more than your appearance. If you are no longer one of us, how can you be one of the Nine?" -- This episode also reveals the deepening bond between Lennier and Delenn. -- Delenn: "Lennier, for the first time...I feel very much...alone." Lennier: "No. Never alone, Delenn. Never alone." -- Delenn: "Lennier, listen to me. The Council holds me in disfavour right now. I do not want that to spill over onto you." Lennier: "I'm not worried about that." Delenn: "Of course not. You are young. And youth is both foolish and vulnerable." -- Lennier: "Where you walk, I will walk. I have sworn myself to your side." Delenn: "You do not know, you can not know what you're saying." Lennier: "Yes, I do. Come what may Delenn, I will not leave your side while I am still alive." -- Delenn: "Very soon now I will be going into darkness and fire. I do not know if I am fated to walk out again. If it is your choice to come with me, then I could not wish for a better, or braver, companion."

General "Firestorm" Franklin is in command of the troops being sent to Akdor to help the Shilassen Triumverate put down a rebellion. He arrives at Babylon 5 with six ships carrying 25,000 soldiers. He tells Sheridan that he has also come bearing gifts: "New weapon systems for your defense grid. The very latest of Earth Force R&D. When they are on line, Babylon 5 will have enough firepower to take on a warship." Sheridan: "Are you sure this is wise? Babylon 5 is supposed to be devoted to peace. If we begin arming heavily." Franklin: "The galaxy is changing and Babylon 5 must change with it." Babylon 5 needs to be prepared to fight, especially with the Narn-Centauri War.

Answer: Turhan

Emperor Turhan has come to Babylon 5 to offer his apologies for all that the Centauri and his family have done to the Narn. He knows that he is dying, and that if he does not do this now, it will never get down. However, he is unable to accomplish this in full because of the failure of his health and the scheming of Londo and Refa.

Sheridan tells Ivanova that they are going to refuse to obey the order. They end up getting locked out of their quarters, so they have to spend the night in Sheridan's office. After one night of that, Sheridan came up with a different option. Ivanova: "They gave in?" Sheridan: "Ahem, no." Ivanova: "You gave in?" Sheridan: "Not exactly. I'm deducting 60 credits per week from the budget set aside to maintaining combat readyness and applying it against the rent." Ivanova: "On what grounds?" Sheridan: "On the grounds that I'm not ready to fight anybody until I've had a decent nights sleep in my own damn bed. You got a problem with that?" Ivanova: "No, none whatsoever. I rather like the idea of Earth Central paying rent to itself. There's a certain symmetry."

"Taro Isogi spent his life improving the lives of others. He built a business based on that principle, and he never broke a rule or harmed another to do it. Mars was his dream, Captain, now he's been murdered for it, and you're trying to cast the blame on him."

Answer: Copernicus

When the ship first approaches Babylon 5, it is broadcasting a repeated message: "This is the Copernicus. We come in peace." Ivanova mentions that the markings register it as the USS Copernicus. She further says that the computer does not recognize the design. Sheridan says that it was a sleeper ship "used in early deep-range exploration, back before we got jumpgate technology from the Centauri." The crew was put into cryogenic suspension until awakened by the computer, which was programmed to awaken them when they make contact with an alien signal. The computer was also programmed to change the heading to trace back the origin of the signal. These ships have not been used for over 100 years.

When Londo and Vir go to see Refa off, Londo sees Elric boarding the station. Londo says to Vir, "Great Maker! A Technomage!" Vir professes no knowledge of the technomages. Londo explains, "they use science to achieve the affect of magic. I haven't seen one in years. They almost never travel. They don't like to leave their places of power. To see even one of them is a rare thing. To see more than one at a time is considered a very bad omen."

In the council chambers, Londo is protesting the absence of the ambassardors from Narn and Minbar. Londo: "Here, you see? One deserts his post without any explanation, the other one picks the most breathtakingly inconvenient moment possible to explore new career options...like, becoming a butterfly!"

Sheridan has spent the last two years on the Agamemnon out on the Rim, but has been reassigned to Babylon 5 by President Clark and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The Agamemnon was built after the Earth-Minbari War, and fought alongside Sheridan during the Earth Civil War and even served as the flagship during the final battle of that war. Captain Ryan assumed command of the Agamemnon after Sheridan was reassigned.

This is from one of the sweetest scenes in the show. Vir and Lennier meet in the Zocalo, at presumably a previously arranged place and time, to discuss their lives as ambassadorial aides. Here is the rest of the conversation. Lennier: "Sometimes I get so close, and yet it seems I'm shut out of the important things." Vir: "It's a useless feeling. The ambassador is definitely going through some changes. He even looks different." Lennier: "Indeed, and now with the military starting to stampede over everyone and everything..." Vir: "The coming and going and secret meetings..." Lennier: "You never know what it's all about, until later, when it's too late." Vir: "They never listen to us." Lennier and Vir: "It makes me nervous." Vir: "Same time tomorrow?" Lennier: "Sure."

Sheridan asks the Inquistor to tell her the truth. This is his response: "The truth? You are not ready for the truth. The facts? If that's the only way to get to my work. They call upon me when I'm needed and preserve me when I'm not. And they have called upon me now for this interrogation. You will allow me to finish the work that has brought me here -- or you will let me leave because either way I have told you all that I intend to."

Draal appears to Delenn and then to Sheridan (just as Sheridan steps out of the shower..."a real live honest-to-god shower with running water and everything"). Draal says that he has been watching Sheridan's actions on Babylon 5 and is now confident in Sheridan's loyalties that he felt himself now able to introduce himself to Sheridan.

Ivanova, finally getting over her initial dislike for Talia, lets her stay over at her quarters while Talia's quarters undergo maintenance. They have some interesting conversations regarding their former hostilities. Also important is the fact that Sheridan et. al were discussing bringing Talia into their little conspiracy before the later events in the episode take place.

You see?"

Here is the relevant portion of the conversation between Sheridan and Delenn about the Shadows and the Vorlons. Sheridan: "Anna. The Icarus. They found something. They woke something up." Delenn: "Yes. Once awakened, the Shadows could not allow them to leave, in case they would warn others. Those who would not serve were killed." Sheridan: "But were they all killed? Delenn, maybe some of them were kept alive as prisoners. Anna might still be alive. Morden..." Delenn: "must be released." Sheridan: "But after what you just showed me, how can you ask me to let him go?" Delenn: "Because right now they do not know how much we know. Last time, the Shadows lost because they moved too quickly. Now they are being careful, gathering their forces slowly. If you push Morden, sooner or later, he will tell you what happened, and then he will be killed, and you will be killed, and the Shadows will move now, before we are ready for them." Sheridan: "How are they going to know?" Delenn: "Because Morden is never alone. Listen to me. Aside from the Vorlons, we do not have the First Ones to help us this time. We are on our own. We will have only one chance to stop them, and if we fail, billions will die. There comes a moment when each of us must pledge himself to something greater than himself. You told G'Kar he had to decide between revenge and the good of his own people. Now you must make the same decision, Captain. It will be the most important decision of your life."

Franklin learns about the fugitive alert and confronts Garibaldi, that the charges against Jacobs have to be false. Garibaldi counters: "Stephen. The last time you vouched for a doctor friend of yours we had three dead bodies, half the station was trashed and an Ikarran war machine was burning through decks and shooting at everything." Franklin: "Alright, fine. You don't want my advice, don't ask for it. But I'm telling you there's been some kind of mistake. The Dr. Jacobs I knew would never sell our Earth." Garibald: "Maybe he's not the same Dr. Jacobs you knew any more." Dr. Jacobs was Clark's personal physician, and knows that Clark did not have a cold as they claimed as the reason for his leaving Earth Force One before it exploded. Jacobs came to Babylon 5 with the evidence.
