From Quiz
What They Say on 'Lost': Part Two

Answer: Penelope Widmore

Season 2, "Live Together, Die Alone". Desmond and Penny are madly in love, but her father, Charles Widmore, is keeping them apart. When Desmond got out of military prison, Charles Widmore was there to pick him up. Desmond is not happy to see him, as Widmore has never liked Desmond and did not give him permission to marry Penny. Widmore shows Desmond a box full of letters, letters Desmond sent to Penny while in prison that Widmore had intercepted. He also offers him money to stay away from his daughter. It is not shown whether or not he took the money, but it has been established since then that he did not. Desmond does stay away from Penny for a while though, that is until she finds him. Desmond is preparing to go on a boat race around the world, run Charles Widmore himself, and Desmond intends to win it to get his honor back. However, he becomes shipwrecked on the island that he calls home for the next three years.

2. "Ah, you guys have an inside joke. How absolutely wonderful for you both"

From Quiz What They Say on 'Lost': Part One

Answer: Charlie

Kate tells Charlie to ask Jack about his tattoos, resulting in this sarcastic response from Charlie. This is from season one, "Pilot: Part 1".

3. Who said the following, right before being shot by Sawyer in season three? "OK. I give up."

From Quiz Famous Last Words 2

Answer: Tom Friendly

Tom Friendly was killed in the season three episode, "Through the Looking Glass." He was attempting to surrender to Sawyer after his plans had failed and several of his comrades lay dead. Sawyer shot him anyway because he didn't believe him. Tom was a member of the Others who was apparently loyal to Ben. Throughout seasons one and two, he acted as a menacing spokesperson for the Others and was part of the group that kidnapped Walt from the raft.

4. After Libby was shot near the end of season two, what were her last word/words?

From Quiz Famous Last Words

Answer: Michael

Libby regained consciousness for a short period after Jack injected her with heroin. Her last word of "Michael" was her attempt to tell Jack that it was Michael that shot her. Jack misinterpreted her by thinking that Libby was asking if Michael was alright. She died seconds later without getting to tell Jack and Hurley the truth.

5. Complete the quote: "What's he going to do, call you a _____?"

From Quiz "LOST" Quotes-- Seasons 1-3

Answer: 23

This quote is from the episode entitled "Dave." Dave wants Hurley to take a graham cracker from Leonard's plate, and all Leonard could say was 4 8 15 16 23 42. They were sitting in the mental institution, playing connect four.

6. "You left out the part where you wanted to see if I got eaten by something."

From Quiz "LOST" Season Two Quotes

Answer: Kate

This quote was said in "Man of Science, Man of Faith". This was in the scene where Kate was talking to Locke about why he wanted to go in the hatch so badly.

7. "Dude, I know how this works. This is gonna end with you and me running through the jungle, screaming and crying. He catches me first because I'm heavy and I get cramps."

From Quiz Get "Lost"... Who Said It First?

Answer: Hurley & Hugo

Season 1 - Episode: "Outlaws" This was said by Hurley when he and Charlie were digging a grave for Ethan in season one. Hurley thought Ethan would come back to life to get them, just like the bad guy always did in horror movies.

8. Dr. Arzt said, "I got news for you. There are forty other survivors of this plane crash, and we are all _____________ too."

From Quiz "Exodus" Quotes

Answer: People

Arzt had an earnest conversation with Hurley while the others were inside the Black Rock. During this time he seemed to speak for the general population of the other survivors whom were not addressed during the episodes. He complained about the formation of cliques on the island and sarcastically referred to Jack, Locke, and Kate a "merry band of adventurers". Arzt added the line, "You people think you're the only ones on this island doing anything of value." Most likely this was specifically stated to hint that, elsewhere on the island, other activity and/or planning was occurring and did not involve the main survivors whom the audience had been following. Therefore, neither the viewers nor the title characters were aware. This sets a scene for next season to have some unexpected surprises arrive, supposedly in progress already.

9. In the pilot episode, Charlie said this: "That thing had a certain gargantuan quality to it!" Who is he talking to?

From Quiz Chat With Charlie

Answer: Kate

Kate was suggesting that they go after the monster in the jungle. Apparently Charlie thought it was dangerous, since he protested with the above quote.

10. While searching the jungle for Charlie and Claire, Jack asked Locke, "Do you think it was Ethan?". Locke replied, "It certainly____ like it was Ethan."

From Quiz "All the Best Cowboys" Quotes

Answer: feels

Jack and Locke asked everyone at the caves if they had seen Claire, and learned that she and Charlie had taken off down the path to the beach. When they found the footprints, Jack said to Locke, "This doesn't make any sense. How can one man drag off two people, one of them pregnant?" Locke responded that Jack should ask the question of why, not how, and that Sayid said there were "others". They could not account for all their people, he said- if they were their people.

11. Hurley: "I'm a big guy. It's gonna be a while before you're gonna want to __________________."

From Quiz "LOST": Quotes

Answer: "Give me a piggyback ride"

Hurley is talking to Charlie in this scene during the episode titled "Confidence Man". Charlie was trying to find some peanut butter or peanuts for Claire and asked Hurley if he had anything. Hurley said that all the airplane food was gone, but Charlie insinuated that Hurley was still pretty big and that he had to have something. Hurley got offended and said the above quote, and also informed Charlie that he was down a notch in his belt.

12. "You're about the closest thing I got to a friend, Doc."

From Quiz What They Say on 'Lost': Part Two

Answer: Sawyer

Who would have thought that Sawyer considers Jack his friend? This quote is from season two, episode "?". Anna Lucia and Libby have just been shot and killed by Michael, but none of the survivors are aware it was Michael who did it. In a previous episode, Anna Lucia and Sawyer had sex, which was all a part of Anna Lucia's plan to steal Sawyer's gun. This is the same gun that is used to kill her. Although he and Anna were not exactly close, Sawyer, along with everybody else is obviously shaken by these horrific deaths. He also, no doubt, feels somewhat responsible for her death. If she hadn't gotten his gun she would still be alive. He confides in Jack, telling him he slept with Anna and that is how she got his gun. He says he never even knew her last name. Jack asks him why he is telling him this, and this is when Sawyer says, "Cuz' you're about the closest thing I got to a friend, Doc. Because she's gone."

13. "Are you one of those hardcore spinal surgeons?" Who asked Jack this question?

From Quiz What They Say on 'Lost': Part One

Answer: Kate

Kate asks Jack this because she thinks it's odd that a spinal surgeon has tattoos and Jack says, "That's me. Hardcore." This quote is from the same episode as the previous question, "Pilot: Part 1".

14. Who said the following, right before being killed? "Look, I only took her money. It ain't my fault your dad overreacted. If he pulled the old murder suicide then I'm sure he's down here somewhere. Er, maybe you could take this up with him..."

From Quiz Famous Last Words 2

Answer: Anthony Cooper

Anthony Cooper was killed by Sawyer in the season three episode, "The Brig." Anthony was the biological father of John Locke and a conman that went by many aliases. While using the alias, Tom Sawyer, he seduced James Ford's mother, Mary, and then used her in order to swindle money from her and her husband, which resulted in the death of both. This prompted James to take on the alias "Sawyer", and to hunt down his namesake. Sawyer wrote a letter to Cooper that he had carried with him for years. Cooper refused to read the letter; instead, he ripped it up. Enraged, Sawyer strangled him with a set of chains while in the hull of The Black Rock.

15. Who said the following right before dying? "All right. All right, we're not gonna take any more of this stuff than we need, because nitroglycerin is extremely temperamental. So we just--"

From Quiz Famous Last Words

Answer: Leslie Arzt

While giving his speech on the dangers of nitroglycerin to Kate, Jack, Hurley, and Locke, Arzt is unconsciously waving his hands. This detonates the dynamite and seconds later pieces of Leslie Arzt are raining onto the jungle floor and the fellow castaways.

16. "What are you going to do, hit me with your Jesus stick?" Who said this?

From Quiz "LOST" Quotes-- Seasons 1-3

Answer: Charlie

Charlie said this when he wasn't cooperating with Eko, and Eko was getting a little cranky. They were traveling to the drug plane, where Eko's dead brother Yemi was.

17. "How about that? Current brought us back. We're home."

From Quiz "LOST" Season Two Quotes

Answer: Sawyer

This was said in the episode "Adrift". Sawyer sarcastically said this to Michael while they were floating on leftover pieces of the raft.

18. "It's French, the French are coming! I've never been so happy to hear the French!"

From Quiz Get "Lost"... Who Said It First?

Answer: Charlie

Season 1 - Episode: "Pilot" Part 2 This was said by Charlie in season one when the group went up into the mountains to try and find a signal for their radio. They found a distress signal of the French woman Rousseau instead.

19. "We are not going to take any more of this stuff than we need, because nitroglycerin is extremely ____________."

From Quiz "Exodus" Quotes

Answer: Temperamental

This was one of Arzt's last words. He clutched the soaked bundle in his hand and called out directions, about to say "So we just..." Instead, the dynamite exploded and Arzt became another of the island's casualties. (Pieces of him even landed on Jack.) The explosion most likely caught all viewers off-guard, and clued to both audience and survivors that there were no guarantees on the island, and that the danger surrounding them would certainly claim more lives as time progressed. Hurley believed the accident was his fault, due to the curse trailing the unlucky numbers.

20. Also in the pilot episode, Charlie says "No, this is the _____ version."

From Quiz Chat With Charlie

Answer: teeny-tiny

Sawyer had just shot a polar bear with a gun he took from the marshal. Kate says, "You think this is the thing that killed the pilot?" Charlie replies, "No, this is the teeny-tiny version." The thing that killed the pilot was the huge "monster" in the jungle.

21. How many lines did Ethan have in this episode?

From Quiz "All the Best Cowboys" Quotes

Answer: Three lines

Ethan physically appeared only once in this episode, coming from the jungle and standing over Jack in the rain. Ethan stepped on him and said in a robot-like tone, "If you do not stop following me, I will kill one of them." (First line.) He leaned over and said, "Do you understand me?" (Second line.) When Jack fought back, Ethan kicked him away and said, "No more warnings," (third line) and vanished into the rainy jungle.

22. ________ : "Trust him? No offense, mate, but if there was one person on this island that I would put my absolute faith in to save us all, it would be John Locke." Who said this?

From Quiz "LOST": Quotes

Answer: Charlie

This scene took place on the beach during the episode "Hearts and Minds". Charlie says this to Jack when Jack asks him what he thinks of Locke. Charlie trusts Locke because Locke helped him kick his drug habit. Charlie is British, and with the exception of Claire who is still missing in this episode, is the only other person who would regularly use the word "mate" when talking to someone as friend.

23. "You may have been to Phuket, Doc, but I've been to Tallahassee. Let's just say something was burning and it wasn't from the sunshine."

From Quiz What They Say on 'Lost': Part Two

Answer: Sawyer

Sawyer and Jack are engaged in a game of poker with the stakes raised: All of the medicine Sawyer stole from the hatch. Sawyer calls him with the aspirin and raises him a bottle of Amoxicillin. The quote comes when Jack asks him if he even knows what Amoxicillin is. Sawyer, it seems, has finally met his match. Jack wins back all the medicine as a humiliated Sawyer sits in disbelief. To make it worse, Kate and others witness his humiliating defeat. Sawyer asks why he didn't ask for the guns as stakes (which Sawyer also stole from the hatch) and Jack says, "When I need the guns, I'll get the guns." The poker scenes were very funny scenes from an otherwise serious season two episode titled "Lockdown".

24. Kate: "It was full of bees." _________: "I would have thought Cs, actually." Which character said this to Kate?

From Quiz What They Say on 'Lost': Part One

Answer: Charlie

This is from season one, "House of the Rising Sun". When Charlie sees Jack and Kate stripped of there clothes, Kate in her bra, she tells Charlie she had to take it off because there were bees in it. Charlie makes this funny remark and receives a dirty look from Kate. Charlie should know, too. Dominic Monaghan, who plays Charlie, and Evangeline Lilly, who plays Kate, have dated on and off in real life and were even once engaged. Go Charlie!

25. "Wow. You're beautiful. Hey. Hey! I just gave you a compliment... Aren't you gonna to take my pants off first? You are beautiful." This is said by a man named Wayne. But who is it that he is speaking to? Hint: She kills him shortly afterward.

From Quiz Famous Last Words 2

Answer: Kate Austen

This conversation took place in the season two episode, "What Kate Did." Wayne was Kate's biological father, although Kate preferred if he wasn't. He was an alcoholic who frequently beat his wife (Kate's mother) and made sexual passes at Kate. Fed up with his actions, Kate set up an insurance policy for her mother's house, and then blew it up while Wayne was sleeping inside, thus starting Kate's long run from the law. This conversation is the last anyone heard from Wayne.

26. Whose final words were "Walt, wait!"?

From Quiz Famous Last Words

Answer: Shannon

Shannon had been seeing a dripping wet Walt in various places on the island. Obsessed with getting to him, she runs through the jungle calling for him to wait, she is then shot by Ana Lucia after being mistaken for an Other. She dies in Sayid's arms.

27. "I'm a _____ guy, Sweetheart."

From Quiz "LOST" Quotes-- Seasons 1-3

Answer: complex

Sawyer said this to Kate. He wanted to avoid telling her something, so he gave her the easy answer.

28. "See ya in another life, brother."

From Quiz "LOST" Season Two Quotes

Answer: Desmond

This was said in a flashback in "Man of Science, Man of Faith". Desmond said this to Jack, not knowing that he would see him again on the island.

29. "Do not mistake coincidence for fate."

From Quiz Get "Lost"... Who Said It First?

Answer: Mr. Eko

Season 2 - Episode: "What Kate Did" When Locke tells Eko about pushing the button every 108 minutes and that he thinks it is his destiny that he was brought here to push it, Eko surprises Locke by telling him this quote, and Locke begins to think that maybe everything he is doing in the hatch isn't real..

30. How many times, throughout all of the three "Exodus" episode parts, is the word "exodus" spoken?

From Quiz "Exodus" Quotes

Answer: None

There are many references to religion and biblical events (such as the exodus which occurs) and yet the word never appears in any of the episodes. The "exodus" would refer to the departure of the raft to "freedom". (Or so they thought.) Many other quotes have religious references in some way. Sayid talks about following- and losing- "the light"; Sawyer says Michael has the patience of a saint; the Mary statue is shown. Most significant, however, may be the source of the light within the hatch. Yet it may not be a light of rejuvenation; when the bright light of the boat appears from the darkness in the ocean, the survivors on the raft are delighted- until they find their discovery is not at all what they had in mind.
