Demon's Souls/Dark Souls Trivia Questions

1. In "Dark Souls 1", Kingseeker Frampt will tell the player that they'll need the Lordvessel in order to eventually link the First Flame. What does the Lordvessel do?

From Quiz
"Dark Souls" Trilogy Lore

Answer: Harbor the Lord Souls

Once the Lordvessel is acquired, the player needs to locate the four Lord Souls and deliver them to it in order to access the Kiln of the First Flame. Without the Lordvessel, the Lord Souls would be useless.

2. What is the first boss you encounter in "Dark Souls"?

From Quiz "Dark Souls" Trilogy

Answer: Asylum Demon

The first boss of the game, found in the Undead Asylum, is the Asylum Demon. While it is a very difficult boss for so early in the game, you can usually beat him using the tried and true method of staying behind him and rolling into his attacks when need be.

3. Keeping with the first game, what makes the bonfires in this game different than the bonfires in "Dark Souls 2" and Dark Souls 3"?

From Quiz "Dark Souls" Trilogy

Answer: At the beginning of the game, you cannot travel between bonfires

"Dark Souls" was unique in the fact that, when a player first comes to Firelink Shrine, the bonfire does not allow them to travel to other bonfires. Instead, the player must unlock shortcuts throughout the world that keep bringing them back to various bonfires. However, after beating Ornstein and Smough in Anor Londo, Princess Gwynevere gifts the player an item that allows them to warp to any bonfire from the one they are resting at. It usually takes a player about twenty hours to get to this point in the game though, so those shortcuts come in handy early on.

4. What is the first location in "Dark Souls 2"?

From Quiz "Dark Souls" Trilogy

Answer: Things Betwixt

Things Betwixt is the starting area of this game where the player first creates their character. This area is basically a jumble of big caves and passageways that can give the player a lot of areas to get lost.

5. In "Dark Souls 2", the player will eventually have multiple encounters with what is essentially Drangleic's military force. What is their name?

From Quiz "Dark Souls" Trilogy Lore

Answer: Dragonriders

The Dragonriders are King Vendrick's Royal Guard. They have a very rigorous acceptance process, like any military or regulated militia might, and wield high quality weapons with heavy armor. The player will encounter one as a boss fight at Heide's Tower of Flame, then will encounter two Dragonriders as a boss fight at Drangleic Castle. In "Scholar of the First Sin," they will also find one Dragonrider as a mini boss at Shrine of Amana.

6. Released in 2009, what is the name of the video game from FromSoftware that was a precursor to the "Dark Souls" series?

From Quiz "Dark Souls" Trilogy

Answer: "Demon Souls"

"Demon Souls" was released in 2009 for the PlayStation 3 system. While it gained a cult following when it was released, it was not until after the publication of the "Dark Souls" trilogy that this game became widely played.

7. In "Dark Souls 1", once the player defeats Lord Gwyn, they're prompted to Link the First Flame and end the game then and there. What must the player give up in order to finally finish the job?

From Quiz "Dark Souls" Trilogy Lore

Answer: Their soul

A cutscene will play which will show the player's character being slowly set ablaze by a bonfire from within the Kiln of the First Flame. Their character doesn't, at least initially, seem hurt or in any sort of distress, and eventually the Fire covers their entire body. After this, end credits roll and the player will be forced into New Game+.

8. In "Dark Souls 2", there is actually only one ending that involves the player gaining a very prominent role within Drangleic. What role is this?

From Quiz "Dark Souls" Trilogy Lore

Answer: Ruler

With Vendrick out of the picture, the player will link the First Flame and, in doing so, become the new formal ruler of Drangleic. Much like "Dark Souls 1," the game essentially ends here. Though the player isn't kicked to NG+ like the latter, the storyline ends at this point and the player won't be able to do anything of lore significance for the rest of the play through.
