You might be surprised if I tell you there is an organism that can live without water for nearly 120 years. What is its name?

Answer: Water bear

Water bears have a shell like a tortoise. When they feel there is no water present in their habitat they cocoon their whole body into their shell and slowly decrease their rate of metabolism. Now they can live for up to 120 years without water.
2. After water comes food as an essential part of our life. Without food, no organisms can survive. Humans can also live for several days, even weeks without food. But there are some organisms which can do better. Which of these animals can live for a month, or possibly more, without food?

Answer: Cockroach

Cockroaches are really interesting organisms. They can live for at least a month without food, with some references saying three months. Without water though, survival is only possible for a week. This can enable them to survive in areas in which other animals might perish.
3. When you sleep, both of your eyelids are closed. There is an animal which can sleep with one eye open. Which of these animals is it?

Answer: Dolphin

Dolphins are aquatic mammals. They are one of man's best friends. They usually sleep with one eye open to keep watch for their enemies or predators.
4. Do you sleep at night? Of course you do. Now tell me what type of work you can do while sleeping? Of course, nothing. There is a bird that can sleep even during flying. Can you name that bird?

Answer: Albatross

The albatross is one of the largest birds in the world. Once they are fledged, they spend most of their time flying over the seas and oceans. They even sleep while flying but this can make them easy prey for their predators.
5. Like the brain, the heart is also an important part of an animal. It pumps blood that circulates through the whole body. Which of these animals has three hearts?

Answer: Octopus

An octopus has eight tentacles. It doesn't have only eight arms but also has three hearts. The functions of all the hearts are the same, i.e. to pump blood. Octopuses live underwater in seas and oceans, and have suckers on their arms which help to catch their prey.
6. Until now, you have read about brains and hearts. Now it's time to ask about the tongue. The tongue is an interesting muscle that lets us taste food. Do all organisms taste with tongue? Not all. Which of these animals tastes its food with its legs?

Answer: House fly

Houseflies are the vectors that carry diseases to our houses. They taste food with their legs. They have taste buds on their legs which we usually have on our tongues to taste. Houseflies can spread diseases like typhoid and cholera, so beware of these insects.
7. Can you live if you have been cut in half? No. One of these animals can be cut in half and each piece will grow into a new animal. Which of these animals can perform this trick?

Answer: Starfish

A starfish is a marine invertebrate animal. The starfish is an amazing animal because it can regenerate if it is divided into two equal halves. This can only occur when part of its central core is present in each detached part of the starfish. The starfish first repairs the wound that it got during the cutting or detachment.

Then it starts creating new cells which in turn sparks new growth of that part. Some organisms, like lizards, can regenerate a tail. Your human liver is capable of regeneration after illness or trauma, to a certain point.
8. The head is an important part of an animal. It has eyes to see, a nose to smell, a tongue to taste with and even a brain with which to think and act. But there is an organism that can live for as much as nine days even when its head has been cut off. Which of these animals can perform this feat?

Answer: Cockroach

Cockroaches are really amazing animals. They can live for nine days even if their heads have been cut off. They are very small but can adapt themselves to any situation. They can even hold their breath for nearly an hour. Isn't it amazing?
9. Most wild cats have one thing in common in addition to their diet. That is their sound. Most big cats can roar. Which of these large cats can't roar?

Answer: Cheetah

The cheetah is a member of the cat family. It can run with a top speed of up to 110km/h, but it cannot roar. They usually make a purr sound when they are sitting near each other. They are also the weakest members of the wild cat family.
