Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. A popular Brain Teasers category on Fun Trivia is Fractured Words. See if you can decipher this one (just say what you see): Tall aversion

Answer: television

It's your television. The questions in the Fractured Words quizzes may ask for one or more words (look at the hint to see how many); the clue words must be real words themselves. There are also fractured word quizzes in entertainment-related categories.
2. Another BT word quiz category is Wordwise. Can you solve this one? ALL WORLD

Answer: All over the world

Wordwise is a rebus-type category done in text, kind of like a text-based video game except you don't move from scene to scene or have to fight zombies. You solve them by looking at word positions, words inside words, deciphering phrases (like the example in this question) and other methods to taunt you.

In a photo rebus quiz authors can use pictures or drawings to make rebuses a lot like the ones we used to find in newspapers and comic books.
3. Before and After is a type of quiz in which you must determine which word connects two others. Fill in the blank on this one: Percy Bysshe ___ Winters

Answer: Shelley

This type of quiz may involve names or (hopefully) well-known phrases. While the usual format is for the player to guess the middle word of a three-word answer, occasionally an author will write a more difficult quiz, giving the middle word and some clues about the phrase; the player must guess the first and last words.
4. Can you find the word spelled backwards in this sentence, which is itself a clue? Don't forget to snap the latch shut on the cookware bin.

Answer: pans

Back Words quizzes usually give you clues in the sentence to help point you to the correct word to reverse. Or they may ask you to find words which are the reverse spelling of each other. Or they may give hints and ask you to come up with a palindrome (a word spelled the same frontwards and backwards).
5. Can you find the correct automobile manufacturer in this Hidden Words question? I waited for days to get an offer from that company.

Answer: ford

Hidden Words quizzes present you with serious, or silly, statements, and you must find certain words which are inside another word or which span two or sometimes three words. The quizzes may have a theme or just be random sentences. You'll also find hidden word quizzes in other categories besides Brain Teasers.
6. Can you figure out, and insert, missing vowels in this title of a book and movie with the help of a hint? NVSBL MN

Answer: invisible man

Missing Letters quizzes rely on letters being removed from words; you need to put them back. The clue may be straightforward or a bit cryptic. Mostly you'll be asked to reinsert vowels but some quizzes ask you to fill in missing parts of a word, or alternate letters may be left out.
7. Want to try an anagram question, in which you rearrange the word in capital letter into another word? See how you do on this one. This guy will cometh, according to what we saw at the CINEMA.

Answer: iceman

"The Iceman Cometh" was a 1973 movie. Some anagram quizzes would have you make a new word, or two words, from a group of highlighted letters. Others require you to come up with synonyms of highlighted words which use the same letters.
8. What word would fit with these words? Wagon__, Pin__, Bicycle__.

Answer: wheel

Words in Common is one of the largest categories in Brain Teasers. You may be asked to find a common word, such as in this question, or be given a word (like 'tar') to which you will have to add letters to make a new word. This type of quiz is open to a lot of inventiveness.
9. Can you find the correct answer in this Number Phrases question? 3 F in a Y

Answer: 3 feet in a yard

The categories are getting a little tougher now. Number Phrases quizzes fall under the Wordplay division of Brain Teasers. They involve a phrase with many letters removed and using one or more numbers to guide you to the answer. Not always easy to write or solve, they often involve some head scratching.
10. What kind of Brain Teaser would this be: Jack has five doughnuts; Sally is allergic to spinach; Tom likes basketball; Lucy didn't get invited to the dance. Who has powdered sugar on his or her face?

Answer: Logic Puzzle

Well, we just ran out of fairly easy categories. My setup for the question here is somewhat basic (okay, a lot but I was having cognitive issues) but in a logic puzzle you have to deduce answers from a set of parameters (usually 5 to 10 in a Fun Trivia quiz), which are designed to make you think and reason. Having a pen and paper nearby would also be a good idea too as some of these quizzes are very complicated and require quite a bit of work.
