Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Starting out with an 11-letter word, what describes something, perhaps a road or path, that has not been travelled on?

Answer: untraversed

Untraversed is not the same as uncharted. Uncharted means the path has not been mapped or recorded before; untraversed simply means it hasn't been travelled on.
2. Drop a letter from the previous word and anagram it if you think it's necessary to give me a 10-letter word for a thrill-seeker or explorer looking for fun.

Answer: adventurer

I'm probably the least adventurous person ever. Unless we're talking about food. Gastronomically, I'm like Sir Francis Drake. I don't know where I'm going with this analogy.
3. Which 9-letter word means to misjudge something?

Answer: underrate

"Wow, that eburge's quizzes are great! He's so underrated." said no one ever.
4. Which 8-letter word means to have come back?

Answer: returned

I returned to the UK after having lived in Australia for nearly 16 years. The weather is cold, dark, wet and blustery. It's fantastic.
5. What 7-letter word refers to a set of false teeth?

Answer: denture

If you were to go exploring in search of wondrous false teeth, would it be a denture adventure?
6. You've done well to last this far. Which 6-letter word means to carry on or put up with?

Answer: endure

Just be glad you don't have to endure gut-achingly bad puns in every question. I've got other quizzes if you're into that sort of thing.
7. Rather appropriately, we're heading down to a 5-letter word. Which word follows "Down" when colloquially referring to Australia, or just generally means beneath?

Answer: under

I used to live Down Under. Have I mentioned that before? I have, haven't I? Well, now I live... up over.
8. Which 4-letter word might mean a sand hill, or perhaps a work of science fiction literature by Frank Herbert?

Answer: dune

"Dune" was published in 1965, and the author Frank Herbert was just about the only person who enjoyed the 1984 film directed by David Lynch.
9. Roll call. Which 3-letter word is a man's name, particular that of Homer Simpson's neighbour or historical Australian bushranger Kelly?

Answer: ned

Ned Kelly famously wore what looked like an iron bucket on his head, with a small slit to see through. Ned Flanders, Homer Simpson's neighbour on animated television programme "The Simpsons" is known for his "diddly" tmesis, such as "Hi-diddly-ho, neighbourino!".
10. Which 2-letter abbreviation is used on the internet as Germany's country code?

Answer: de

The ".de" extension, of course, comes from the German word for Germany: Deutschland. The ".ge" extension is used by the country of Georgia.
