Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Taw Ms. jiffy sewn

Answer: Thomas Jefferson

1801-1809. Our third President. A great patriot, thinker, and writer, but perhaps he should have tried to free the slaves if he believed so strongly in equal rights.
2. Jaw nod dims

Answer: John Adams

1797-1801. Our second Prez. His son, John Quincy Adams, was a President, too.
3. Wool yam horrid tuft

Answer: William Howard Taft

1909-1913. Later he became Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
4. Sherbet hoof fur

Answer: Herbert Hoover

1929-1933. Homeless people's tacked-together shanty towns were dubbed Hoovervilles, since many blamed Hoover for the Crash of '29 and the Great Depression that followed.
5. Yawn fits jar rolled canopy

Answer: John Fitzgerald Kennedy

1961-1963. Young, handsome, rich, smart, and married to the beautiful Jackie, JFK was one of our most charismatic Presidents. He was assassinated in Dallas on November 22, 1963. If you're in your 40s or older, you probably remember where you were when you heard the news. Lyndon B. Johnson, his VP, took over as President that evening. Tragically, his brother Robert was also assassinated while running for President, and his handsome son died in a plane crash.
6. Franc land Dylan oh rows svelte

Answer: Franklin Delano Roosevelt

1933-1945. FDR served longer as President than any other person. He was elected four times. Roosevelt's New Deal legislation helped to boost the U.S. out of the Depression. He led the nation through World War II, but died in office when the War was almost over. VP Harry S. Truman took over. (Now Presidents can serve only two four-year terms.

A player points out that if a President dies in office and the VP takes over, the new Prez is allowed to run twice more IF he or she does not serve more than two years of the previous President's term--so a President could conceivably spend up to 10 years in office.) (Editor's note: Only the full name is acceptable as that is what the fracture represents.)
7. Raw knelt gray gun

Answer: Ronald Reagan

1981-1989. The Great Communicator. Not my favorite President, but I'm sad that he developed Alzheimer's.
8. Untrue yawn sin

Answer: Andrew Johnson

1865-1869. President during Reconstruction. Too bad Lincoln wasn't.
9. Grow fur cleave lend

Answer: Grover Cleveland

1885-1889 AND 1893-1897
10. Woolly yum muck kindling

Answer: William McKinley

1897-1901. There were a lot of Presidents named William, weren't there?
11. Shames knocks poke

Answer: James Knox Polk

1845-1849.
12. Gorge sherbet wok cur borscht

Answer: George Herbert Walker Bush

1989-1993. Dad to Dubya. Credited with ending the Cold War. Led the U.S. through the Gulf War.
13. Forge whooshing tin

Answer: George Washington

Our first Prez: 1789-1797. The Father of Our Country, the cannot-tell-a-lie guy. Led the Patriots through the Revolutionary War. Had wooden false teeth, they say.
14. Games medicine

Answer: James Madison

1809-1817. Husband to Dolley. If you want your boy to be President, name him George, James, or William--John might work, too, or even Franklin. I wonder what the first woman President's first name will be.
15. Well yum onery heiress sin

Answer: William Henry Harrison

1841, period. This is a sad story: poor guy died of longwindedness. After giving a 105-minute inaugural speech on a freezing March day (hatless), he contracted pneumonia and died! By the way, I left out poor James Garfield, 1881, who was shot by the deranged Charles Guiteau and later died of blood poisoning.
