Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Jack knows that every 24 hours in the CTU is very stressful. What does the T stand for in the acronym? TRRRST

Answer: Terrorist

Jack Bauer works for the Counter Terrorist Unit. He not only thwarts assassination attempts, he also invades drug cartels. Jack has even prevented the detonation of a nuclear bomb. There is nothing Jack Bauer cannot do, although I suspect he does not know how to make the perfect Hollandaise sauce.
2. Jack then checks his firearm and ensures that he has enough of what? MMNTN

Answer: Ammunition

It is always important to have enough ammunition. Jack has used a variety of weapons throughout the seasons of "24", but it appears that his personal firearm is most likely a Sig Sauer P228 or P229. Apparently it can handle 9mm Parabellum, .40 or .357 ammunition. Jack often purloins firearms from the bad guys too and has been seen with a Glock, Desert Eagle and Walther PPK among others.
3. Just because he feels that today may be a particularly trying day, he decides to load his Remington. What kind of firearm is this? SHTGN

Answer: Shotgun

I was absolutely surprised to find an episode in Season 3 and in Season 4 where Jack actually packed a Remington 870 shotgun in his gear, although he never seems to need to use it.
4. Jack just cannot decide if today will be a stun, smoke or fragmentary kind of day. Which item can he not decide on? GRND

Answer: Grenade

In Season 5 Jack uses three M18 smoke grenades in as he provides cover for a helicopter. As far as I can tell this is a US Army signaling grenade, but seems to work for Jack.

Editor's note: As GRND is the clue, and only vowels are missing, the answer can NOT be plural.
5. For some close combat fighting, he decides on his trusty Ka-Bar knife. He places his knife in what? SHTH

Answer: Sheath

Jack never actually uses a Ka-Bar as far as I can tell. He uses a Microtech Halo in Season 1, which he took from a villain. He uses a kitchen knife in Season 1, another stolen Microtech Halo in Season 3, a Strider MG Dagger (Throwing knife) in Season 4, a NATO Military OTF in Season 5 and a bread knife in Season 8.

Although, it seems like he just picks up any old thing he can find to kill baddies with.
6. Weapons. Check. Now for communications. Jack decides that seeing as he never knows where he could be in the following 24 hours, he will pack a special type of phone which will hopefully keep him connected at all times. STLLT

Answer: Satellite

Satellite phones are useful for people who venture off the beaten track, away from conventional mobile reception. They are very useful aboard ships for instance and often have coverage anywhere on Earth. They make use of satellites that are in geostationary orbit (follow the direction of the Earth's orbit).

Some modern day satphones are indistinguishable from conventional mobile phones and should not be used as a weapon against villains.
7. Perhaps Jack will find himself in the jungle today. He certainly hopes so. This allows him to wear what? CMFLG

Answer: Camouflage

Although I could not find any of the Seasons of "24" which actually had Jack in camouflage, he was in the US Military, namely Delta Force where he partook in covert missions all over the world. Chances are that he wore camouflage at some point. Whether he actually liked it or not, who can say?
8. Jack decides to pack in rations, just in case his blood sugar drops. What is a common type of survival ration that he could pack? HRDTCK

Answer: Hardtack

This was obviously just fiction on my part. Jack Bauer does not eat. His blood sugar is disciplined and would be too terrified of letting him down at a crucial time.

Hardtack is simply a biscuit (or cracker) that is made from flour, water and occasionally salt. This long lasting biscuit was used more often on sea voyages and military campaigns. A biscuit from 1852, supposedly the oldest hardtack biscuit in the world is on display in a maritime museum in Denmark.
9. Before he leaves the house he dons his vest. You should not leave the house without it. What word would accurately describe his vest? BLLTPRF

Answer: Bulletproof

Kevlar vests are an amazing invention that have saved the lives of countless men and women in the military and police. Kevlar is a synthetic fiber. These fibres are closely woven together to make the cloth and often metal or ceramic plates are placed in the front of the vest.
10. Jack is ready. What word describes the edge-of-the-seat feeling we will have while watching him and asking ourselves "What will Jack Bauer do?" SSPNS

Answer: Suspense

Suspense is defined as "a state or feeling of excited or anxious uncertainty about what may happen". Every episode of the nine seasons of Jack Bauer's exploits is suspense filled and the series has won multiple Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
